Hi, finally going to start my home renovation. Need all sifu opinion here.

Should I get a main contractor to help me on the renovation or I should get multiple contractor for different works?

Here is my flow of renovation:

Wall extension > wiring> piping> tile > wood work ( kitchen cabinet, TV cabinet & wardrobe) > iron grill> plaster ceiling> painting > furniture & electrical appliance > done!

Pls provide your opinion, thank u!

for this one wood work ( kitchen cabinet, TV cabinet & wardrobe) > iron grill> plaster ceiling> painting

my flow as below

plaster ceiling> painting > iron grill>wood work ( kitchen cabinet, TV cabinet & wardrobe)

as if you already pasang grill and KC, the painting job would be troublesome

smile.gif I engaged various contractor instead of main one, as in my location, it turned out cheaper as I dont need to spent more as a part of the "salary" of the main contractor, not sure in other area, but in my area, it is cheaper but with the risk of "pointing finger" when there is any problem, but during reno, I m there to see their work, so any problem, I will know which party caused that. smile.gif

LeeyunG, what your opinion of doing the woodwork (Kc, wardrobe, TV set) before or after internal painting?

I preferred do it after paint as painter, easier to paint and also painter will not patiently protect ur KC/TV set from paint, and no matter how you protect, by using roller, there are small drop paint splitting around one, so 100% will kena ur KC/TV set, proper flow should be after paint

You might want to do the grille first before the wiring.
I had someone broke into my under-reno house and cut off most of the wirings.

Noted with thanks. Now, sourcing for the good contractors for wet work + Wiring + Piping, contractors for carpentry, contractor for plaster ceiling + Painting and contractors for grill. If you have any good one, please recommend.

Thank you thank you!

Added on March 23, 2012, 6:20 pmWow... Today went to meet up with a few contractors for price comparison and idea. After seeing these contractors, there are so many area need to amend even though I have the 3D plan with me. So, lesson of the story, no need to engage an ID fellow to draw the 3D plan, the contractors able to give you more idea. Moreover, some contractor even can draw you the simple 3D plan FOC.

Damn... Wasted few thousand to get somebody to draw the plan...

Too bad. Pay the ID already. Now working on the meeting up contractors, discussion on plan, waiting for the quotation. Today, I went to a kitchen cabinet specialist, Kubiq Kitchen in Kota Damansara. The concept is quite good. You mix and match and design your kitchen cabinet based on their modular system. Got a rough estimate on the pricing but still waiting for quotation from the my others kitchen specialist. Need to compare price and see how... Anybody have experience with kubiq Kitchen?
