Hi all, I'm new here- been stalking this thread since v1, pretty much read everything and you've 90% convinced to get the X-S

Just a few things I've noted though...
(1) battery problem? so far no one has confirmed if completing a few charge cycles (whatever that is- charge, use till dry, recharge?) will stabilize the battery usage. Also read the software updates might solve battery problems- though how, I dunno (android noob here).

(2) Yellow tint on screen? Hopefully it's just a Taiwanese problem... though if it happens here I hope we can exchange it with the warranty, like iphone users did?

(3) I see yeelin04 has staff discount... first ever post here and I'm already asking for a discount. Embarassing

@yeelin04: how does it work? I join the list, and then go to sony mobile in pyramid to pay and collect- that simple? Can choose between color and all (I haven't decided)... and I'm also actually still leaning a little towards the X-P. Just a little though :3 Please advise

@china_dude: Not sure... I would like to play around with the demo unit first though... but since I'm a smartphone noob I don't think I will even know if it's cacat or not=.=;;

Yup, first smartphone... started with 3310, then to 5130, and now, most likely X-S

You did that? Impressive jump. Haha. My 3310 is dead. Haha. Tilt it sideways, press call button and it goes off.

N8? Ahh, Symbian phone. I'm going to miss my simple 5130's S40. Got to get used to touchscreen-droids quick otherwise I'll look like a sakai when testing the demo unit,

Haha nolah... my 3310 was free, 2nd hand from my uncle. Still a student then with no money (didn't want to ask for money to buy a phone, and didn't want to work lol)... used it for 3 years before it died:P

Nono, 5130 is a keypad phone... can touch the screen but no effect. lol. I just 'touch' my friend's touchscreen phones sometimes... blur and dunno how to do anything. ^^;


Looking forward to it, hehe. Hope the battery drain is not that bad though... I won't complain if one charge can last one day. Otherwise I will have to leave my droid at home when I travel=.=;;



lol, I never thought that iphone would kill off normal handphones... was very happy with my 5130. Crazy loudspeakers

lol. I went to a Nokia store recently and asked the fella behind the counter, 'so this one runs on symbian too?' and he replied very forcefully 'no it runs on meego. very different thing.' sensitive haha. I always thought of meego as just an upgraded symbian...


Yup, that's what I'll be doing mostly... Though I'll probably use the camera a lot. Dunno if the battery can last... looks like I can't leave my camera at home when I travel:(

Hehe true, I guess. Normal phones are slowly dying off... I think iphone is a good phone, but somehow I don't like all the publicity and attention it gets. Maybe that's why I like the X-S.. Sony is being so si wen (ah, ladylike? lol) about it.

Tizen? Chinese for earthquake? lol. Another competitor huh... dunno if we really need so many. And no point if the phone makers don't want to use it...

I'd be happy if they included a bluetooth headset... that would be awesome (but unlikely). Don't really need a HDMI cable because I don't have a HD TV, hehe.

Wah. So strange. Feels like I'm entering a different world... previously all I had to do was 'don't turn the phone on when you get it, charge it for a few hours' according to the tech people... now I'll have to train batteries. lol.

Free gifts who knows? Hopefully Sony Mobile will have some nice freebies:)

Ooh. Looks like there's no need to worry about battery consumption/lifespan then. Excellent info... I saw nothing like all this in the 'professional' reviews. Actual user feedback FTW;)

From old world of 'simple use, charge, throw when it dies' batteries to the new world of 'pokemon-like training necessary' batteries. lol.

...hold on, I'm pretty sure my old candy bar used Lithium Ion batteries... grr, so those salespeople only told me half the story when they said to do a long charge before turning on the phone. :0

@mackzai: Samsung GS2 vs X-S? No idea lol. But considering all the rumours about GS3... maybe you might want to wait longer:) Personally I'd still prefer X-S because of the design (don't like slab-like smartphones)...
