Hi all, im new & I'm in the midst of hunting my 1st aro. Any GH keeper here? Went to XL y'day saw one GH very nice, tagged at 7k plus. Book by one enthusiast. Anyway XL is not like what I expected, typical LFS with a few mature aro & alot of stingray for sale. Anyway I don't see anyone keeping stingray with their aro's here. Anyway will stick around more to learn, pretty impressive & informative forum.

Nice MG, congrats on great choice and good husbandry. I was wondering, how come the lateral line on ur aro looks black?
Hi Jenn77. My fren keeps several XBs with two stingrays in his 6 footer comm. He offers one for me but i dont wanna consider any fish addition for now, let alone something i never tried before. So i'll stick with Aro & bichirs for now.

About ur hunt, u plan to get a GH straightaway? I know the price is very affordable now as ppl sell Aros almost everywhere, but i think thats too hasty an approach. Many aro keepers (including me) start with cheaper ones 1st, not that because we couldnt afford better choices, but to make things easier if something bad happens. For me, -and maybe for me alone- pet keeping is not entirely about the price, beauty, or types, but the most important is the spiritual bond. Many has started this hobby with sparkling interest, but soon abandoned their fish and even the whole tank after a few months.

But if u really think its in u, then go for it. If anything u wanna know, dont hesitate to ask around and learn. I still consider myself a noob, even this is my 4th aro. Yes i'm still learning around, both in reality and on net. Sifus here would be more than ready to help with information.

Dont forget to update ur hunt. Good luck bro  biggrin.gif
Ooh thank you very much for your concern. Honestly I'm in the planning stage, so anything could happen now and then. smile.gif

Hi jenn..
Since ure looking for a GH..perhaps u could drop by our aquarium shop..we are located at kota kemuning..
The black is internal infection..sometimes the black line will appear below on their belly..

Hmm yes I will this coming Saturday. smile.gif I'm more interested at GH+BBMG or GH+XBMG.

Sorry for the blurry images, dont have enough time for more shots.

Just curios, won't the tile under the tank confuse your aro? Also encourage DE? Any reason why you put the tiles pattern below the tank?

Wondering, does LFS sells dead crickets? LOL I know it's funny, but I am not very keen holding live insects, so am wondering if there are dead crickets sold in the LFS?

Yaah me too.. icon_question.gif Anyone feeding dried krills to their aro's? I think its a good food too. smile.gif

bro from ur facebook u got sell the lipan?
*
They said lipan you need to cut them in small pieces and cannot take frequently, very poisonous. But its good for the coloration of the aro, esp. red color ones.

Personally, by going to the LFS, it's another way of keeping the hobby alive, getting social while exchanging ideas etc.. Long time ago there was no such thing as Internet. Being so called fish keeping enthusiast, me and my buddies used to walk miles away to LFS just to look at fishes. Anyway didn't know aro's will go on starving mode, how long does the starving lasts?

Would really like to go if i live around Klang Valley. Hows their pricing like, for an xbbbmg? Choosing from a comm batch can be beneficial, as u can see & compare which is superior, good or bad..

Well, he is asking for 1.8k each and do not know if it's negotiable. He's a breeder, farm at Bukit Merah. Didnt ask if he allow to take pics of the aro i mentioned. Neway, not promoting but just sharing info. nod.gif

6 2 2 at 1.5k?

O.o

Impossible bro..unless second hand set..

Frankly speaking for a good set..guarantee set with superior water quality..
Guarantee tank no leakage
Guarantee wooden cabinet from the best workmanship
rm6k got balance..

To fill more input, better water quality i would say sump system with selected medias..

For a more quiet system definately canister..

Added on December 6, 2012, 4:41 pmOh yea..rm6k is including aro..top quality aro..
*
Wow.. so nice deal! Hmm.. top quality aro.. 24k GH? drool.gif

Btw, anyone visit Oriental Aquatics at Sungai Buloh before? I alwiz passby during lunch time but no time go inside and look see. I saw alot of buyers from aro forum showing Oriental Aquatics Cert. nod.gif

Canister
- quiet
- space saving
- good for pressured flow medias..e.g. biohome, subtract pro etc
- I find it irritAting to be maintain.. not user friendly during maintenance..
- will not wet your cabinet..coz u can carry the entire canister to toilet..

Sump
- simple..can see every part of it..
- could attract mosquitoes
- noisy
- user friendly during maintenance
- need some technical skills to make sure the medias are fully utilize..
- will wet your cabinet during maintenance
*
Hehehe.. will make your floor wet also. But I still prefer SUMP, can get a stable & clean water. smile.gif
