Hi bros.... needed all your advices. I had a 4feet aquarium which I have a pig nose and some other small fishes in it for the past 3 weeks.

Today I went to buy a golden cross back arowana, before adding the arowana in the tank I let it float in the plastic bag for about 30mins in my tank while I added another 10% water in it. I added the ocean free anti chlorine as usual.

Few hours later the arowana was swimming in my tank, the fish starts to behave strangely n then the belly went up. sad.gif I tried calling the shop but they told me is due to chlorine poison. And they say ocean free anti chlorine is not good etc.

For the past few weeks, non of my 15++ small fishes like tiger barb fish, blue tetras, plecos had no issues. So would like to get advices of where did things go wrong for me. It's a very sad day for me la, as I been wanting to have an arowana as pet and today finally got it but the fella only lasted few hours sad.gif

So the Aro passed away? Ocean Free is a reputable brand. Did you under dose? There is a possibility of water chemistry issue that affected the Aro. Mind sharing where you bought it from? There has also been cases of fake anti chlorine on the market but never heard of it happening to Ocean Free. What strange behaviour did you observe? Is the tank new and what kind of filter are you using? Ever measure nitrate, ammonia etc during the Aro incident period?

How long after the Aro passed was the picture taken? Very pale for a crossback even when it was still alive. Cert?

Hi bro,

Yes the aro is dead, i left it for few hours but still no movement or whatsoever, so i already removed from the tank. Following the oceanfree instruction for 4ft tank is 3 1/2 capful, but i did add more than that just in case. I bought this arowana from LongYu in cheras and the anti-chorine from Fish depot from sunwaymas, i think they are quite reputable? My tank is more than 3 weeks old now, and i have more than 15+ small fishes as i mentioned above with my pig nose turtle. Im using canister filter Dolphin C1600, inside the filter media im using consists of biorings, purigen, zeolite, and seachem matrix on each trays. The water has always look crystal clear and clean and non of my other fishes or the turtle has issues with it. I been doing weekly 20% water changes also the past few weeks.

I do not have those tester kits to test the nitrate , ammomia sad.gif the shop owner ask me to bring some water sample to them tmr though.

Pale i think is bcoz of the pink/white lights i think... and yes the arowana has cert. The boss willing to give me some good discount for a 2nd one as replacement, but im thinking of want to be better prepared first before putting another arowana in it. So still trying to see where did i go wrong here.

Hi guys, need advice as i will be upgrading my 4ft tank to 6ft. currently im using the canister filter, and my new tank will be using sump. i have ordered some biomedia like seachem matrix and i still have some leftover biorings (bout 2L) , so my question is can i just put them in a big mesh bag and soak inside my 4ft aquarium to build good bacteria in it while waiting for my new aquarium to reach? I currently have a pig nose turtle and 1 small arowana.
