Jz like wmkr said,  keep it simple, no need use blackwater..old birds here do not suggest anyone to play with blackwater or ph up or ph down or any chemical that will trigger the water hardness or pH level of the water..jz do at least once WC a week..and ur aro should be healthy as it grow..playing with all these blackwater, etc etc water chemical thing a, is like treating a human with testestorone and estrogen from time to time..imagine this week i inject high dosage of testestorone to u, u suddenly become damn man, voice rough, wuah super man..then next week, i inject lotsa estrogen into u, u sudden become pondan..suffer u know bro..

So ur aro same thing..keep it simple..dun use blackwater..weekly water change..ur aro adapt to the weekly water change routine..then it will be healthy as it grow

agreed.. if u want to play with blackwater or ketapang leave's then get a red....

red aro needed more acidic water to live. compare to gold aro.

sorry for ur lost, as for hb u can find it at a lot of lfs now.. they are selling at around rm350-500 per piece at size 4-5 inch

2ndly, you're too impatient in fish keeping..fish keeping requires great patient bro..

bro..based on what u've explain..

1) ure too impatient..though u might know the risk on what ure doing, still ure rushing on things..

2) with the old water still in there while u only introduce a canister filter, that wouldn't even harm your aro a bit..old water, new medias, i see that as no risk towards ur fish..your tank only 1 arowana, even if the ammonia level starts to climb, it wouldnt be this quick to kill ur aro..so if ure saying install new canister kill ur aro is wrong..doesn't make sense..

3) so, old water, new medias, new canister..ur aro died within hours..why?

Simple, there gotta be some grease in the new canister, which have to be wash throughly until all the grease are gone before u started using the canister..

2nd suspect murder, u didnt clean your new medias properly which could possibly has contamination..bad bacterias or impurities..

3rdly, don't tell me that when u introduce ur new canister, u do 100% water change?

Since u didnt provide enough info, these are few mistake that i could point out..

I saw those picture that u posted bro..those core colour is nice, purplish..but i dont like..coz isn't clean enough..jz my personal opinion..until today i only saw twice..clean deep blue based..no horse shoe..with thin deep gold frame..deep blue based + thin deep gold frame only at size 12inches, black tank..no horse shoe markind le..that fren of mine he sold 8pieces to one guy at rm6k..those were crossback bb..after i saw those..i went outside see those with horse shoe marking, potong steam man..

Then another juvenile i saw with clean core of bb but thick frame..that was back at pandan indah 168..he put the price rm7888..but according to bro kent, he sold at 5k+..

Clean bb with thin ring..must cost a bomb..

Jz my personal opinion bro..i dun mean anything bad..

there is a big differences in btwn tanning a golden arowana and wtt a golden aro..

I doubt if there is any LFS out there could explain this and direct u to use which light is much proper for what usage and will bring what kinda outcome..

I dont get to explain to u here, unless i got the product in hand..and explainin in words is a pain the ass..hehe..

Wait till when i open up my LFS, then u come visit me.. *wink*

no problem bro..

Be sure to :
- maintain temperature at 34 (most important)
- no air bubble (important)
- low power water pump shoot away from aro
- no feeding until that aro recovered, continue without feeding for another 2weeks
- salt at 1liter of water with 1gram of salt.
- off lights
- do not frighten ur aro, do not touch it.
