you sure u bought a toyota Avanza ??
it sounds more like a Proton Avanza ...
from what i heard .. Toyota car is indestructible one ...

Indestructible, maybe. Hit the concrete divider on Karak, spun around and hit the metal railing on the other side and then hit the divider again. Car was totaled, but I walked away with one small bruise on my foot, even w/o airbags.
But trouble-free, hardly. I just got used to it lol. I'd say my Inspira (whenever it arrives) has a long list of issues to top before I'd even consider it to be "troublesome".
Maybe I got a Perodua Avanza by accident instead (oh wait, ALL THE AVANZAS IN MALAYSIA
IS ASSEMBLED BY PERODUA). Or, to be precise, a Daihatsu Xenia (coz my mine was built in Indon yo).

Shesh, mechanical reliability issues aside (which in my gearbox's case, happened anyway), I'd say T and H's "superiority" in the fit and finish department is overrated - at least in the low-mid end range.
Case in point, my family's Insect rattles like crap too. Ditto the old 3-series. Plastics were better on the BM though, in it's defense.
Want a perfect fitting car? Get a VW lol, but I'd wager it'll have it's own set of problems.
But one thing I can't fault it Toyota service, at least in my area. Penang Toyota SC totally diffrent story though lol.
