Jpeg 2000 is a new format variant for JPEG.
It have better compression yet better image quality then std JPEG.

Another advantage is it support streaming loading,

eg, Normal JPEG will only appear on screen once 100% is receive.
But in JPEG2000, picture will appear base on % of file receive. This is useful if the image is big.

Can be more specify and detail on your question?

cheers

I dont think Photoshop can do it at the moment (CS). Use LuraWave JP2 to produce this kind of format.

Yeah something similar with progressive JPEG but this allow you to control the display quality and compression on application side.

Popular with medical imaging cause the image is huge.
