hehehe. what conductor that can make the water to decrease it's degree celcius when a fan concentrated to the conductor. any idea? means that the conductor touch with the water. this will prevent from water hydrating. don't think of keep the temp to 24c. 26-28 is good enough. the main achievement is minor water hydrates. this is better. isn't it?

hmmm... dont think its possible... normally conductors main purpose is to try to bring hot temperature to room temperature. but if u wanna bring room temperature down to cooler temperature dont think it will work, u can experiment tho who knows maybe im wrong? XD  u also add in another risk in ur aquarium when u add in unknown metal conductors into ur tank as they might rust or have foreign poison in them...
*
so, this is busted method lor?ok. then, how come dolphin mini chiller that using fan can achieved certain decreasing celcius yah?

hmm... if im not mistaken that chiller follows how a fridge works to chill the water. but still, i dont have a chiller to decompose as of now so i also dunno hahaha XD
*
mini chiller is using fan and conductor only. no gas applied.huuhu

if im not mistaken, they use TEC, using peltier effect to chill the water, if use for small aquaria let (nano tank?) it is effective, above that real chiller is more useful...
*
the cost expensive kah? can't we do that?to get better fan? boring with current fan. huhu

the problem is, the coleman icebox will not give a continuous temp dropping. let say, the ice become water.not cold anymore. you may take time to replace the ice. i afraid the temp swing will affect the faunas.huhu. than the maintenance too high lor. metal tubing, that is conductor of heating transfer is titanium, aluminum and copper. the most cheap is copper. aluminum, too expensive.huhu. this is just my point of view.huhuhu. i hope you not mad with me.huhu

this is my idea...at least no need to wreck a fridge just to DIY a chiller, which IMHO is much more expensive than to buy an actual chiller itself...

that is why must get electronic temperature controller, with probe inside water...

u connect the ETC unit with water pump, n set it to kick in(activate water pump) when temp let say, go above 26, n then cut off let say, when it goes below 25...

ice inside coleman will last long, since there is no direct contact of water from aquarium with the ice in the coleman
then i cannot say anything anymore...by all means, DRILL THAT FRIDGE!!! biggrin.gif

sometimes DIY is not just to cut cost, like me, i DIY alot (not just aquarium stuffs) because 1. it is fun, 2. because i like to DIY (i come from the generation where we watch MacGyver on TV n aspire to become like him when we grow up biggrin.gif) n 3. because i believe i can do it... biggrin.gif
*
FOR ME, JUST DO IT. if you fail, you got a lesson. maybe can use on upcoming diy.hehee. if you suceed, i want to know the secret. share to us yah? smile.gif

ok... todays discussion:
i have already set up my planted tank 1 1/2 half week ago but i did not include tourmaline BC in my tank. i included the other 4 elements which is bacter100, penac w, penac p and also clear super but did not add in tourmaline just for experiments sake. tourmaline is said to help growth of roots and now the experiment had been proved that my plants really did have slow growth rate.

question:
can i add in the tourmaline bc now into the water or does it have to be under the soil? XD
*
from my experience which is not much,i think that it is ok just to put into the water. just switch off the filter for a moment and wait for the tourmaline to settle on the soil. at least, the plant got contact with the element. and make sure you put in the tourmaline after water change.so, that the tourmaline didn't washed away or diluted of a water change. correct me if im wrong.

Actually the discussion was killed before that itself...muehehe...

It is doable...downside is cost...

TEC model one, i guesstimate the cost to be ard 400 to 500, based on part price in internet stores...of course if one could source the part in malaysia, the cost would dramatically decreased...i guess...

N TEC makes heat as much as it lowers it...after it reach its optimum working capacity, ir dramatically become inefficient...

The poor mans/troll science chiller, i derive the idea based on 'red-neck ac unit'...it seems to work, so aquarium chiller should do too...of course one needs to actually DIY it 1st b4 knowing it...

owh.i didn't notice that.huhu. where you study at bro?

kinda...but i dun hav test kit for gH n kH...so just leave it for the time being...furthermore fishes in my tank are rated hardy, (or can be 'abused' a little... tongue.gif )

my logic, unless ure keeping very expensive, sensitive fishes such as altums or discus, then u can worry less about kH n gH...

just my worthless 1/2 kupang opinion btw  icon_rolleyes.gif

edit:- anybody doses phosphate in their tank? can recommend me any good product for dosing phosphate?
*
i use borneowild products. so g double o d good.hehehe. price is ok lor. rm60 for 500ml. ok lor for me. i dose 1ml aka 1push twice a week for my 2ft tank. both.hehehe.

the result is good.

i've 3 ottos in my 350mm tank. seems ok, not so crowded. and i fed them with normal fish pellet and also betta fish pellet. they manage to swim till the surface to get the food.
also i fed them with algae wafer but usually the yamato will take it first and hide
doh.gif
will try to squeeze in 3 SAE later this weekend. both SAE and otto price rm2 here in JB. but yamato a bit expensive, rm3 each
*
you will regret kaw2 put in sae.i got two. the fight each other until one commit suicide by jumping out of the tank. 1 1/2 month in the tank and suddenly kill himself.huhu. maybe too stress with the other one. gonna take out the sae. the tank not so peaceful with the sae around.huhuuh
