Hey there everyone,

I'm new to this game. I'm trying to build a i3 Prusa too. But I want to enjoy the build to I want to assemble everything and buy the components on their own. In a way it's way cheaper than buying the kit.
I found the steppers and filament locally: http://www.yumeprinter.com/product-category/accessories/
This stepper motor 1.2A should suffice right? http://www.yumeprinter.com/product/lm8uu-linear-bearing/

for electronics anyone supplying this locally with good price?
This is what I found so far: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Geeetech-Ramps1-4-...=item4d1a775a3f
good price and free shipping.

Ideally i want to buy everything local, but I find it hard.

Any help?

I think most of the thing you can find locally, just the price might be slightly expensive than those in ebay or aliexpress.

For stepper motor, you should look at the torque value, then the current will depends on how much your motor driver can deliver.

Filament I would recommend http://web.qwikfab.com/. So far havent face any problem with my print.

I bought my Ormerod Printer Kit from RS Malaysia. I never get any parts from local supplier so far, mostly I search around aliexpress. But blomker is quite active here, maybe you can contact them. yume seems have reasonable price as well.

Some one mentioned in previous post that is a hardware shop selling bearing and laser cutting service if you are near klang valley.

Thanks for the recommendation! : thumbs:

Yes, the printer don't need the rest and I do but it won't take more than half an hour to start a print. I try to keep my printer busy as much as possible.

2nd Prusa i3 up and running, this time using ramps 1.4 and 400w PSU. I did abit of power measurements, the hotend pulled about 3 amps and the heatbed about 7.
Also noticed that the PSU couldnt regulate the 12v properly, after a while it dipped to about 11.5. Must be one of em cheap PSU's

Made a custom holder for the ramps, fan and mosfet heatsink, moved the mosfets onto a heatsink.

Hey man,
Where did you buy the kit?? Or did you assemble things yourself?
I plan on buying a kit I want to get most of things locally.

My first i3 was a kit (from aliexpress), 2nd i3 (the one pictured above) is assembled from parts, 90% of which is from aliexpress. Things which i bought locally were the smooth rods, afew bearings, and screws and bolts.

Did you have to pay any import taxes?
