I tried to purchase from element14 earlier however received a bad impression of the site. For one thing it kept timing out, hence emptying my cart till I re log in. I made sure I was in MY's site, all prices was in RM. Despite countless timeouts I managed to select my stuffs, key in address, entered my cc details then finally it brought me a page stating the "WEB SITE IS UNAVAILABLE" and politely ask me to contact their sales team. Couldn't they just give that notice way earlier instead of wasting a customers time. Wtf. I think I'll just get from eBay. Much more pleasant experience.

Where to buy a Raspberry Pi in Malaysia?

Ubitap Components - shameless plug here, I run this webstore  tongue.gif
element14
RS Components
Thundermatch

...and there are a few individual sellers in lelong.com.my , mudah.my , ebay.com.my and not forgetting LYN's garage sales.

Price varies from RM111 to RM150 for RPi 512MB RAM Model B board and from RM95 to RM130 for RPi 256MB RAM Model A board.
Be sure to check the accessory bundles, you can't run a standalone RPi board. You might get a good value for your money there.
Check on the availability first before you buy, else you might have to wait for days or weeks.
Perhaps the OP can put this info on the first page?

Just bought 2 sets from you =D

Somebody created a custom image called Ultimate Raspbian, designed for (retro) gaming in mind. The idea is you can multiboot to different OSes (ish) designed for specific use:

- Raspbian
- RetroPie for gaming
- XBMC for media

but a release never happened.

So someone else did it. It's different than booting different OSes though. It boots to raspbian, but starts in a Launcher called EmulationStation that you select to boot/run

- LXDE, the desktop GUI
- XBMC
- Different game emulators - SNES, MAME, etc
- Apple II
- x86 DOS
- prDoom
- Quake Arena
etc.

Been using this so far, it's awesome! Not fully polished though. But better than running Raspbian & LXDE underneath, and XBMC/RetroArch on top.

Download it, and flash it to your SD card here.

I'm pretty interested on how SNES emulates on RPI. So far I read it's stable at this moment but I could be wrong. Still waiting for my unit to arrive rclxm9.gif

Received it! Thanks Ubitap. Love how it looks in its case.

just for normal internet... watch drama.... put tv as my monitor...

I guess you already answered your own question then. For HTPC options there's raspbmc, openELEC, XBian OpenELEC etc.. Raspbmc being the most noob friendly.

Isn't torrent just a p2p protocol? What does it have to do with online storage?

I didn't know what CEC but I'm pleasantly surprised my TV supported it. =) Still, having a mini wireless+touchpad makes life much easier especially during typing

Hehe sweat.gif Thought I already pasted it. Build quality cheap plastic, there's excess plastic from manufacturing process at some areas. However it works great and portable. Slightly longer than my Sony Z1 and narrower

Dude, thanks! I assume you got it from the website you gave.

What do you do with your RPi now?

*
Yep. I've gotten around 4 RPis plus various accessories from Ubitap now. So far I only know how to configure it as a media center, I'm using openELEC. I'm gonna try this tomorrow =D http://lifehacker.com/how-to-turn-your-ras...nsole-498561192

What kind of game controller are you using?

Have a wireless Logitech F710, used it to play PS2 emulators on PC. I'll try to see if it's supported

OK, awaiting your report.  rclxms.gif

Finally had time to work on it yesterday. I'm happy to report F710 is supported. It's working right off in Emulator Station but for actual gaming, you need to configure it for each types of emulator you plan to use. So far I tried and successfully run Sega Megadrive, SNES and GBC. Had some problems with N64 couldn't run the ROMs, crash halfway; GBA needs BIOS, already transferred it in but I guess location error. Will work on it further tonight. Anticipating lots of issues with PSX.

bro, may I suggest the Odroid C1, which is about 2.5x more powerful than the Pi, at the same price of USD35. It was just announced last week, and by January, stocks should be available.

Of course it takes in 2x the power, but still 5V. It's likely using the 2.1mm DC connector, but the pics aren't clear yet.
*
Where will it be available locally? Btw here's the link to the power. RPI handles max load of 1.8A, not sure the max for C1 but product listing shows the psu is 2A.

edit: oops ps ps

Locally, not sure, since Odroid does not have a wide presence, and largely caters to Korea and US markets.

You could always try getting from Odroid directly, but I read that their shipping fees can be hefty. Maybe a bulk will be good.

Pi can work with minimum of 700mA, IINM, but Odroid *may* need a 2x minimum, since the GPU is more power hungry.
*
Hmm I'll just wait and see first. My main reason is to build a robust emulator station. At the moment, even with OC, my RPI running PSX games can be quite draggy at times

I got a B+ for christmas this year. Is there anywhere in Low Yat Plaza that has a selection of raspberry pi cases and tools etc? Also, cheapest place to buy a keyboard and wifi usb dongle? I've never had to buy this sort of stuff in KL before.
*
Not from Lowyat but you can get most of the accessories here. I bought from these guys couple times now. Fast service and quick response.
