is it possible to turn my raspberry pi to a chromecast like device? I want to cast my Windows 10 desktop to my TV using RPi. Will be through ethernet. I see there way for Android, but not Windows.

Just me, for a download box, I use
raspberry pi for 3-6 months, switched to atom
D510 base PC for 3-4 years then to low budget,
Build Ryzen 3 2200G last month.

Minus the monitor around RM1.5K.
You can lower the build. Mine is 500GB SSD.
More user-friendly experience with Window 10 Pro.

My reason is running at low watts. Builing a intel Atom or Ryzen watts is high.

Why didn't continue use raspberry ?

As he mentioned, it is user friendly in Windows OS.
Raspberry Pi is great if you are familiar in LINUX OS.

No doubt the pi is cheap, low watt and good enough for some.
It is also a personal choice.

Power bill is not an issue to me, not using it for 24/7
for a download station. 2 years ago it is relevant but not now.
Nowadays a 8-12GB file just takes less than an hour.

I don't know how much can 1GB can do but mostly just normal usage.DDL and torrent.
As for Micro sd card.Which one would be the best for usage?
About linux , I just think of 2 usage is more than enough,set up and ddl.Not using for other usage.
Do you know any raspberry pi community discussion ? large enough to get like almost instant reply on technical help ?
8-12GB takes days with smyx 2mb and upload will take forever and sometimes even fail because of timeout.

I just wonder whether it can last 24/7 without a fan in a box ? I plan to get one too.

I do not think it will take days if you are getting the maximum or
more downloading speed you subscribed to.

Timeout problem, I think it is because you are using the very basic methods
of downloading.

- 16GB or 32GB simcard is more than enough for your application, as a torrent box with STRE.amyx slow connection.
You can have bigger size of simcard like 64GB or 128GB, but I would rather save that money to get an external USB hard drive later.

- The RPi could run 24/7, but make sure you buy the good power supply unit (5V&2.5A output) or their original PSU.

Wish you could quickly buy one and you will spend lot of times in setup and configuration later.

I am no expert in these stuffs but i am running a rasp pi B+ for years.
I am doing single boot on PipaOS (a very light OS fork from debian). My main usage is pretty light, Tunnel my browsing via SSH, torrent (by using a 32GB thumb drive).

My setup is as below

1. Fanless with casing
2. 8GB samsung Class10
3. 32GB metal case thumb drive

If i remember correctly i had "burnt" 2 microSD cards but that is like running for 24/7 after years(which i forgot the exact lifespan)

I run my torrents using Transmission Daemon, which has a webUI.

When torrent , speed will depends on seeder , if the seeder only uploaded with somewhere near 100kb , we only get 100kb maximum.

I haven't buy anything yet.I just wonder whether a good SD card can give faster speed on r/w.64GB does not cost so much , below RM50.
But there are a lot of sdcard model and brand , which one is reliable ? Since i will be running 24/7 but will turn off once a week.

It really takes time to read all.Maybe will wait for Pi 4 for better performance since max is 1GB ram and 1080p video.
