This dongle is at RM26 only. I do not use it on 24/7, but I don't see any reason why it couldn't do that.
For 24/7 duty, I prefer to use LAN cable with my Model B RPi.
*
ok configured, but not as easy as expected cause i need to install driver(hardware version 2.0). Thanks.

ya, really interested, but not many ppl in malaysia capable of designing the io board. I meant doing things like adding usb hub, converting a usb to sata, adding RJ45 chip, etc.

I believe that is the whole point of RPi 2.0, which is to enable/make it easier for common people to create IO boards.

Don't randomly give it a name. There are model A model B, and revision 1 and 2 for both A and B, and B got 256 and 512 mB of ram version, but this is CM. So called compute module, like processors on a mobo. So there are many types of pi. My company has designed an add on board for model b. Now looks like making more sense to do with CM.

today have power failure at my home, so when checking my raspberry pi box, i have this message:

CODE

root@rasberry /var/log # tail messages

root@rasberry /var/log #

if i just run fsck it will give error:

fsck from util-linux 2.20.1
e2fsck 1.42.5 (29-Jul-2012)
/dev/mmcblk0p2 is mounted.
e2fsck: Cannot continue, aborting.

i've tried to run fsck on next reboot e.g
CODE

root@rasberry / # touch /forcefsck
root@rasberry / # shutdown -rF now

it will run only on /dev/mmcblk0p2 but not on /dev/mmcblk0p1

CODE

done.
[   23.011849] EXT4-fs (mmcblk0p2): re-mounted. Opts: (null)

but still contains this error under dmesg
CODE

[   28.671238] FAT-fs (mmcblk0p1): Volume was not properly unmounted. Some data may be corrupt. Please run fsck.

how can i run fsck successfully for mmcblk0p1 ?
*
Try google for fstab fsck, if still cannot consider have another sd card to start pi and plug in current sd into an sd card reader then try again fsck /dev/sda

Hi, I want to ask, is this thing suitable to replace a pc that is dedicated only to printing document? I was thinking to replace that pc with this because that pc is old and gonna cost me more if I were to maintain that pc up.

Thank you in advance
*
ya if the printing can be done in linux, there is no way to install windows on the pi. and must through USB port, no parallel port available.

any idea how to setup NAS for raspberry pi? I want can expand at future. Now might be 2 hdd and next time can be more. should I link hdd to a USB hub then to the raspberry pi? or a hdd enclosure to raspberry pi? Will it better for heat and power saving on 2.5" instead of 3.5"? I also don't want too many power plug on it as if use 3.5 every hdd required 1 power plug.
*
dont think its a good idea, first, the pi is slow, very slow indeed, and the USB bandwidth will be shared with both HDD, SD card and network(all usb, SD card access and network are split off from 1 single USB chip), guess max should be 30mb/s or 4MB/s, while a normal HDD can do ~100MB/s. get a cheap NAS instead.

Thank you for the reply, I'm aware that windows can't be installed on raspi, while parallel port getting more lesser these days but there are cables from parallel to usb so I don't worry too much about it though. I also had to buy a good quality usb hubs for the raspi connected to all of the devices.

The main reason I wanted to go to raspi as dedicated printing pc because the old pc got its motherboard broken, some hardware also need troubleshoot, running on windows and easily get infected with viruses (change file into shortcut viruses).

I searched some of the info about dedicated printing pc that you must install CUPS and go through series of steps (typical of linux) in order to get it running. I also wanted to know what about scanning though, I got a separate scanner and I want to direct copy from scanner to printer aka photocopy via pc software
*
and 1 important point is missing, driver for the printer, it must support linux, raspberry pi uses OS called raspbian, its ported from debian, so u might need to search for debian print server. ive never done that, but i dont think its a difficult process, even step by step tutorial are available.

*
sorry couldnt test for you as the only printer i m using belongs to the company and shared by everybody, i dont want to cause problems for others.

Can a model B / B+ handle 20+GB 1080p MKVs with DTS audio or higher ? Wanna use it as my main media player for the living room
*
It can handle not more than 30mb/s video decoding. Hardware limitation. Do your calculation.
