Hey guys.. I have no clue which mouse is good and whatnot.
I have yet to read up on any..
I am currently using a Razer Abyssus..

However, I'm thinking of getting a new mouse. And might try out SS.
I'm looking for a mouse that is ergonomically friendly (don't want to get carpal tunnel syndrome).. Which mouse would you recommend? Something that would make my hand stretch out unlike my current Abyssus.

When I hold the Abyssus, my hands will be tucked in and apparently.. that causes CTS.

Thanks smile.gif

EDIT:

Any comments on the SS Ikari optical/laser?

Hmmm what game are you playing? IMO FPS gaming ikari optical seems to excel but lack of macro programmable button
Maybe you can look at Xai or the sensei

Not a lot of FPS.
Will be playing Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2 when it releases.
So is laser overkill for ARPG and MMOs?
Is the build quality different for optical and laser Ikari?

I want a big mouse so that it stretches my hand out and the Ikari seems to do that..
Will check out both that mice.

Haha thanks brows.gif

Not a lot of macro buttons, I'm using the Abyssus now and there's only the left and right click and the scroll.
I would like maybe two just in case.

My hand isn't that big, would the Ikari be troublesome for me?

Also, is the build quality different between the Ikari Optical and Laser?
According to this review:
http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1350/ste...ice/index5.html

Is it true? Is it worth the extra $20-$30 bucks?
Since I'm not really a FPS player, not sure if the laser will be noticeable to me.

Thanks notworthy.gif

Well I've tried my friend's Ikari and it's very comfy for me. (Currently I'm using DA BE) my hands aren't that BIG. But I'm a palm gripper so that's why the Ikari was comfy to me. You need to see how you grip yo' mouse when getting a new one. (If not need to re-adapt)

What's your budget? BTW can try asking in Gaming Mouse V5 Thread for recommendations. biggrin.gif

Thanks smile.gif Didn't know that existed. Will post there now.
If I'm not mistaken, I'm a 'claw' gripper.. I'd rather a different grip where it forces me to stretch my fingers out..

Well, I'm in aussie now.. So I expect the mouse to be a tad bit expensive because of the tax sleep.gif
Maybe $60-$70 max?

it has more CPI therefore more sensitive than the ikari optical

Yeah, I understand that.
But in terms of build quality?
I don't mind getting the Ikari optical even though it has lower CPI but it has to be as solid as the laser in terms of build quality.
If it is the same, then I'd probably get the optical.

consider a slippery mouse or a grippy mouse but with a risk of peeling rubber
slippery-ikari optical
grippy-ikari laser

If u dont have budget to getting a new SS mouse , try Sensei . It have good build with processor and suitable for "claw" gripper and it is consider big size tho. http://steelseries.com/products/mice/steelseries-sensei or wait for the Sensei RAW tongue.gif

Honestly, the Ikari laser would be better. More solid and the sensor is better. IMO, optical sensors not really good, not all but laser would be a better choice. I used the Ikari laser before, very comfortable.

Correct me if i am wrong, the Ikari optical is plastic built while the laser is rubber. Plastic builds are a pain the ze arse because it gets slippery and you will lose grip.

No lah, where got slippery..unless you rub lube on it la. biggrin.gif drawback is that the dried sweat residue is sometimes quite disgusting..

even the rubber also is not grippy.
thats why SS made xai grips tongue.gif

if a mouse is nicely designed, doesnt matter rubber or plastic, can grip nicely...like the imperator tongue.gif

Oh i left out on the dried sweat part. Haha.

But the Ikari Laser's rubber is quite good what. Xai's one is even better of course. But honestly , ikari's grip is much better than the Xai's.
