Just sent my car for first service at 1000 km at Proton Edar service centre. Brought my own Synthium 1000 5L. After an hour, the Proton guy gave me a bill of RM140++ and told me all the motor oil was used up. A few items were changed as well e.g. Magnatec, etc. How do I know all these things were actually changed? For I know, they could have just topped up the motor oil and returned me my car with original parts unchanged! Sorry la... I a bit paranoid especially since I know how workshops can falsify insurance claims.

About oil, we CAN request for SQ to use Full Synth oil rite? What oil do they use in that case eh?

normal servicing it is highly recommended you bring to the smaller SC where you can actually watch the mechanic service the car, some even will chit chat with you..

you are not paranoid, it happens, imagine the mechanic kept your brand 5L synthium 1000 and top up some left over engine oil from other cars, and considers it a job well done...

there is one way to check is use the dipstick, before and after you service, the engine oil after service should still be golden and clear..as compared to before you service the car.

y RM140???? no free oil filter all that??? got see the details on the bills?

whatever that is available in stock to sell to you...best if you wanna choose your own oil then go to the smaller SC to service, they are more flexible...bigger PE SC will tell you void warranty if you used anything other than petronas engine oil

@sothys: Any reccomended small SC in the Klang Valley area for normal service then? Bringing along my own bottle sounds like fun also.
