highly flexible so a lot of incompatabiliy, unstable n tons of viruses issues which is very annoying.many android users forced to deal with it.stable is ms,apple and even nokia trying to deliver.ms will slowly ditch the limitation in the future but they wouldnt compromise with those issues as stated above.just my 2 cents
*
I don't see how Android can work in the long run. These bugs, incompatibility issues are just way too crazy.
Looking at future Windows Phone but Nokia people criticising Elop's decision to go full out on WP...

Yeh, too bored. How many times can you talk about a 41mpx phone? 41times? 1 post for 1 pixel? yawn.gif

Wait for Windows 8 tablet. Sure full flash support. laugh.gif

QUOTE(emino @ May 15 2012, 10:05 AM)
Nah. Even Adobe Flash is abandoning flash for mobile and runs towards HTML5

Abandoning is one thing but the usage of Flash content is another thing. Even though Adobe has decided to abandon Flash, most of the contents in the web still contains lots of Flash content, especially online games in browser like what ne0cz said, Farmville. So, giving support is still good even if it's going to be abandon. Like Meego, getting support even though abandon is good. Like Symbian, getting support even though abandon is good too. doh.gif

QUOTE(anthonywcl @ May 15 2012, 11:39 AM)
The phone camera was great but the display not so satisfying
*
Yes, still qHD. Symbian is going to die with qHD. Nokia didn't want to increase the resolution cause if they did, applications will have to be rescaled to fit the newer resolution but of course Nokia could have doubled it and give us 1280x720 and apps only need to be doubled in pixels but Nokia thinks it's not necessary for Symbian. doh.gif Haih, Nokia.

QUOTE(haley0918 @ May 16 2012, 03:09 PM)
it's a new standard of resolution for image or video requiring over 4k pixels horizontally.

QUOTE(tonberry_ax @ May 16 2012, 03:19 PM)
4X 1080p of recording... imagine how much processor power & file size it needed. 808 still not up to that standard IMO.
*
4 times 1080p in simple words. A feature that will blow people mind as well. Gain even more attention. I hope the device is capable. I mean, it's handling 38megapixel photo. 4K video is merely around 8 or 9 megapixel of video as compared to the 41 megapixel sensor available for use. Of course video encoding is a whole different story and it's a very demanding task. Hopefully we can see at least 2k recording maybe (even if it's with custom hack)? Just a niche feature to showoff and capture the attention of consumer and of course force other manufacturer to catch up in terms of photography and videography. Dreams don't usually come true in Nokia World. @.@

Apparently, Pureview 808 will only start selling during end of June period. Though, brochures are seen in Nokia stores now. There're dummy sets if you want to know the dimensions of the phone. Not sure if it's dummy, maybe it's real device? brows.gif cause they put in the glass cabinet.

to be honest, what sold me the most about the phone is sound quality during video recording. it is way better than most m43 and dslr.

i used to own sony nex , the sound quality is very bad, distorted whenever there's bassy sound.

panasonic gf2 is much better than sony nex, can change mic levels etc and no distortion but the sound quality still cannot match the one in pureview.
*
PureView 808 can record sounds up to 140db. That's why. rclxms.gif

There are 3 different modes which you may use to shoot stills on the Nokia 808.
The first being Auto mode which as the name suggest every settings is controlled by the phone itself except for the flashlight keeping things as simple as possible.
The second mode is Scenes. In this mode you are able to choose between various scene types namely, Landscape, Auto, Close-up, Portrait, Sports, Night, Night Portrait, Spotlight and Snow.
The last but definitely not least mode is the Creative mode. This mode offers full control over a huge range of settings. Exposure, White Balance, ISO, Neutral Density Filter, Focus mode (infinity, hyperfocal, close-up and automatic), Colour tones, Capture modes (bracketing, interval, self-timer), Saturation, Contrast and Sharpness. Besides, Creative mode also lets you choose between full resolution and 3 levels of PureView mode (8MP, 5MP and 3MP). Your settings can be stored as 3 different pre-sets for quick use in the future.

ISO is one of three settings used to control exposure. The other 2 being f/stop value and shutter speed which in this case is not available for adjustment manually. An increase in ISO simply increases the sensitivity of the sensor to light. However by increasing the sensitivity in light, noise level will increase alongside.

White balance is the process of removing unrealistic color casts, so that objects which appear white in person are rendered white in your photo. The unrealistic color cast is caused by the difference in light source. A candle light for example casts orange shades onto your image requiring the adjustment of white balance to ensure that white-coloured objects appear white in your photo. Basically, it is like a calibration tool to recalibrate the colour tempereature of your camera.

Focus mode is used to control the focal distance. Infinity is basically used when the subject that needs to be in focus is far off. Your camera will focus on the furthest possible distance. As far as I know, Hyperfocal will result in the same reult as using Infinity focus. Hyperfocal simply means objects that are beyond the furthest possible focus distance achieved by your camera in Infinity mode. Close-up would obviously be used when shooting Close-up requiring a short focal distance and Automatic being automatic.

Contrast in the imaging is the difference between the lights and the darks. If you have a picture that has little contrast, its usually very subdued. If you take an picture and turn down the contrast, the light parts of the pic become darker, and the dark parts become lighter. If you turn it up, the opposite happens. Generally speaking, turning up the contrast makes the subject stand out a bit from the background. Its not always, but generally.

Saturation is the amount of a color. Increasing saturation sort of purifies that color and brings it out, makes it stand out potentially. Decreasing it draws that color out of it. Desaturating generally means removing all the color altogether.

Anyway, a few quick tips to shoot good photos.
(1) Rules of thirds usually works great. The rule of thirds is an imaginary tic-tac-toe board is drawn across an image to break it into nine equal squares. The four points where these lines intersect are strongest focal points. The lines themselves are the second strongest focal points.
(2) Photos are always better shot with proper lighting. Ensure you have the best possible lighting while shooting the subject to obtain a best possible image.
(3) Different angle produces different results. Try it out and obtain the best possible angle.
(4) Experiment all you can. Take a million photos if you need. Practice makes perfect. smile.gif

isn't it's same old focus as N8?

1. Close Up (Macro) - AF mode
2. Anything else (Hyper) - DOF mode

so when close up only need those AF mode other the lens just extented to DOF and everything in focus?

hmm.gif

They have 3 different focus modes. Close-up, Infinity and Hyperfocal. I think Infinity and Hyperfocal is the same. Don't understand why they placed 3 different modes there. hmm.gif

duno if buying from hp shop, will i have the free gift or not..  blush.gif

It feels very cheap when holding in hand.
Anyway, really depends on package. Besides, not even sure if outside shop will be selling original units of Nokia 808.
It may become like N900 time. Limited units only available from Nokia Retail Store since it isn't the main attention Nokia is putting on. hmm.gif

If other shops have it then it's great, the price can go down further from outside shops.

Get it from Mines Nokia Retail Store outlet. I have just been to that place. They have stock for black colour Nokia 808. You may try it out too if you ask. The tripod has not arrived so you will get your tripod later when the shipment arrived. smile.gif
I think Nokia Retail outlet at Mines probably still have quite a number of units in stock. hmm.gif
