hi there sifus.
wanna ask about unpaid credit card debt.
lets say credit card holder has about 40k debt and passed away without paying that amount.
what happens after that? will the bank target the family members of the deceased? or is there any kind of insurance that could waive the whole debt?

QUOTE(hye @ Apr 21 2012, 04:52 PM) The bank will claim the dues from the estate that is under the deceased name. This can include but not limited to EPF, bank, estate, etc. There is such insurance but it need to be subscribed before the cardholder is deceased and not every bank offers it. Interesting as the last 7-10 days many people come in here (CC section) with question that can lead to build cc debts without realizing the consequences if the whole thing spirals out of control. In most cases, they have the perceived notion that they know what they are doing. Myself being brushed off one too many times by 'kids' who are cc novice but think highly of themselves. thanks for the reply. in anyway, could obligation to pay debt extend to family members?

hi there.
Im using a maybank visa credit card.
When I open my online statement, it always says,
Statement balance RMXXX Outstanding balance RMXXX
i always pay the 'outstanding' balance because that is the only figure that keeps changing every time i make a payment using the credit card.
but the statement balance, there has been an amount of RM200 plus, which i dont know what is it about.
If its a balance that i need to pay, then why dont just put it under the same group? like just put it as outstanding balance.
I want to ask what is that statement balance about, and do i need to pay it?
