I cancelled my Maybank Sony card last week 31/1/2013. The total due amount was Rm819.47. Went to a Maybank branch and filled in the credit card cancellation form. Paid Rm820 via CDM since the queue was long.

After that, I called customer service just to expedite the process. Was told again that it has been cancelled, was given a reference number as well.

Today, I login to M2U and saw that my card is still listed, with an outstanding balance of Rm18.76 and the statement was on 3rd Feb

Why is there a new additional charge? The card has been cancelled

Usually they need 3-5 Working Days to (Update) Procced your Request... sweat.gif
But any Enquiry You can Call up Customer Service to ask at 1300886688.hmm.gif

When I called them, the rep just said it is the finance charges, but does it make sense since I confirmed with the rep at the Maybank branch about the total outstanding amount which was RM819.47 as of 31/1/2013/. Paid Rm820 on the same day. The card was cancelled on the same day as well, not only via the form at the branch, but I also called Maybank customer care to expedite the whole thing, and the rep confirmed there are no more outstanding amount and the card has been cancelled on the system sad.gif

Or Better You Call CS Again... blink.gif

Calling the CS does not bring it anywhere, I've just lodged a complaint via email and at their FB page

Just waiting for the reply from them tomorrow. Rm18.76 is not much, but why should I pay it if the card has been cancelled and I've paid all the outstanding balance. rolleyes.gif

Possibly the payment RM820 (cash) was made after the Statement Date ... what is your CC Statement Date ?

My statement date is every 3rd each month. The payment of RM820 was made on 31st Jan 2013 rclxub.gif

So the DUE DATE for the outstanding RM819.47 is on ~23 or 24 January 2013. [20 days from Statement Date]
You made payment on 31 January 2013... so Finance Charges was applied.

The total outstanding does not include the finance charges as of 31.01.2013?

Nope... the Finance Charge will take effect on 3 Feb 2013 (new statement)

If only the rep at the branch told me about this last week. When I ask her what is the final amount to be paid to cancel the card, that was the number that she gave rclxub.gif I assume it is including all the current finance charges as of 31st Jan 2013

The charges will be known even to the Customer Service as of 31-Jan-2013... it's only know after 3-Feb-2013.
It's good to know Statement Date, Due Date to know when to avoid these charges.

Call the Maybankard CS to "waive" it, acknowledging the CS didn't do her job very well..... Known Fact: anyone who paid late would kena finance charges

Just got a call from Maybank credit card dept, they told me that the amount of RM18.76 will be reverse and I don't need to pay for it rclxm9.gif

Hi all,

I read from Public Bank for this RM388 cash back method...

My Webpage

RM 150 cash back from RM1000 "RETAIL PURCHASE"

and RM 238 for RM5000 balance transfer from other bank...

Is this package good? Is online booking of hotel consider RETAIL PURCHASE?

Thanks for your answer!!!

I've applied for this card 2 weeks ago, and still being process sad.gif earlier today, PB processing department called me asking me to go to any PB branch as my signature on the form that I fax was not clear. Have to submit the form/documents either by email or fax to entitle for the promo.

For me, its a good deal, spend Rm1000, and get Rm100 rebate since Rm50 will be use to offset the GST for the card icon_idea.gif

The balance transfer is a good deal too, a 24 months tenure which is a 5% one time fee

Example;

Rm5000 + 5% = Rm250

the Cashback for the balance transfer is Rm238

So you only pay Rm12 for the balance transfer fee biggrin.gif
