Have a question regarding vouchers redeemed from Maybank, particularly Harvey Norman's. I don't have the vouchers in hand so I have no idea on the T&C.

Is the following scenario doable? Perhaps you've tried doing something like this, but at a different merchant?

QUOTE
Product price at Harvey Norman: RM3000
Payment method:
5 x RM50 vouchers + balance pay by credit card (in full or easy payment). To make it sweeter use M2AMEX card during the weekend  brows.gif

Note: 9700 Treatpoints = 1x RM50 Harvey Norman voucher

Definitely DO-able.
Harvey Norman Voucher via MBB TP redemption is on-the-spot redemption and directly use.

Didn't know that. Thanks.

I just bought a new Toshiba i5 4GB notebook from Harvey Norman for RM1299 yesterday. Converted my TP to RM300 HV cash voucher.

Wow what a great deal! Is that the last unit left? And which Harvey Norman outlet?

The Main Immigration office in Pusat Bandar Damansara (Blok I) accepts CC... not sure AMEX accepted or not

They have moved elsewhere about 1-2 months back. That block is mostly empty now, even the restaurants and small shops have closed down. Even the traffic is better than before!

Added on April 22, 2012, 2:14 amI experienced something new today. Let me just copypasta my post from the ipad section:
QUOTE
Just bought the new IPAD together with iphone 4s and the usual accessories from epicentre e@curve. Wanted to buy the IPAD from Harvey Norman but they ran out of stock.

And I got a story to tell.
I paid with my M2AMEX card.
After signing, I noticed that the staff was pretty slow in packing the items and all. She was looking at the screen and talked about something with her colleague. Another staff joined at the counter.

Suddenly the cashier suka suka say something along the lines of "sorry actually there is a surcharge for credit card.. 2.5%.. this bill can void and redo again". To cut a long story short I threw a fit since they were insisting that I should pay the surcharge (with a new bill); I told them there is no bloody sign that says there will be a surcharge for whatever credit card, plus the cashier or even her colleague did not mention ANYTHING about it before I swiped and signed. I even told them I will report to Tribunal Tuntutan Pengguna Malaysia (I am still going to report them) because my case is rock solid. Even asked the staff to call their boss. The staff made me wait for a good 10 mins talking to the boss on the phone in their store room.
Since this is a long story cut short... tongue.gif I left with the items I paid for without paying for the ridiculous surcharge.

...and I am going to town with this story.

I believe I can even complain to Maybank/AMEX right, since they're using Maybank's terminal?

Thanks for standing up for yourself! At least our education here has not gone in vain and it is shocking that a well known retailer dare to attempt such a thing.
You may complain but Maybank is likely to ask for evidence of the surcharge. Retailers are aware of this as well thus they do not separate the cost of the item and the surcharge - same tactic all over the world.  That's why shops will either cost the surcharge into the item price and indicate it as one single price or ask you to pay for the surcharge in cash so that the evidence of their crime is not visible.

Bank penalties for the surcharge conviction can make the retailers cry even for first time offenders. Let alone if caught twice.
*
Yeah I learnt from here that the surcharge is on a 'willing seller willing buyer' basis. Whenever I want to pay with CC at certain shops at lowyat the staff never fails to mention about this surcharge.

The thing that riled me up the most was the fact that they wanted to void my paid receipt and do a new one plus the surcharge. One of the buggers even make a serious face and say "If not we have to void this purchase, we refund to your card". I mean seriously, even if you want to attempt something outrageous like this to your customer, choose your words wisely; say something like "We are truly sorry sir we made a mistake with the transaction. We left out the 2.5% surcharge for credit card. Sorry for the incovenience, but will you allow us to void this bill and do a new one?"
Of course I won't allow them but I won't be as angry. laugh.gif

Epicentre e@curve had 3 chance to inform me about the surcharge before I decide whether to proceed with the purchase or not.

1. By putting some sort of display in their store, telling customers about this surcharge. In lowyat stores they normally put this on the pricelist.
2. The staff who entertained me, answering my questions about the iPad and all.
3. The cashier, who didn't even ask me if I'm paying by card or cash, I simply hand over my card when she told me the amount to be paid. Then she inserted the card in the terminal, I signed the slip and not long after that the xxxx has finally hit the fan (judging from her face). Maybe the system showed that there's supposed to be a surcharge or something.

BTW, the total amount is RM4370.80
If I accepted the 2.5% surcharge, I would have paid RM109.27 more! Even the Maybank2card 5% cashback cannot offset this! doh.gif

I will try to get Tribunal Pengguna to at least make them put a display about this surcharge... not sure what sort of authority they have, gonna be in contact within these few days.

I have a question, Eon bank had been handed over to Hong Leong Bank about 3 months ago, all the credit cards had been replaced with HLBB card during the merging.  However things start to get funny where i keep getting late charges and interests since i change to their service 3 months ago, I try to call and even approach the bank but all they says is that they have no clue of what happen and they have no details of the charges in their system, they ask me to pay the amount 1st and will fix it for the next statement, so I did it for 3months and now it's the fourth month yet nothing fix, am consider to cancel it next month after paying all the debt if nothing are done by their side.

Anyone actually having this problem?  According to them all the existing Eon Bank CC holder are facing this problem but I wonder if it's really the case or I'm the only one been fooled around by their lies?

I am using EONBank GSC card and so far there's no such problem.

Question about combined credit limit across several cards.

I have 3 cards from Maybank (VISA petronas, Maybank2card).

I wanted to buy something earlier today but I didn't have enough balance on my AMEX. Actually there's zero outstanding on the AMEX itself, but since the CL is shared so I had to bank in the amount that I wanted to use via Maybank's cash deposit machine (to my AMEX).

So I went to this shop and only discovered that they don't accept AMEX when I was already at the cashier... I gave my M2VISA card but it was declined. I didn't ask the cashier to try a second time. This VISA card have about 3k outstanding from a 12 months ez-payment scheme.

I was under the impression that since the CL is shared, this VISA should be able to 'use' the extra available balance that I banked in to my AMEX account.

So yeah, just want a confirmation on this.

I have called the CS and got the confirmation... if I overpaid on my AMEX, the extra available balance won't be shared with my other MBB cards. doh.gif
Oh well, learned something new today.

Recently I made a purchase at Birkenstock BV.
When I gave the cashier my AMEX card, she took it, paused for a bit and asked me "Sir do you have visa or master, we prefer visa master". I was a bit surprised because I don't think it is nice to talk like that to a customer. I replied "I want to use AMEX" and she just slot in the card without saying anything else.
I've never experienced something like this before, even at shops that clearly state "we prefer VISA/MC".

I wanna buy the laptop @ RM 3xxx ++

but my credit limit just RM 3k, i already call them give temporary increase the credit limit, but not successful, anyone know how to make it successful or have another way so i can purchases that laptop by using credit card? because i planning to do installment
*
Not sure if this applies to your bank or installment method but what I did to buy something that is beyond my available credit limit is to overpay to the card that I used.

For example, if your CL is RM4000 (and available balance is RM4000 since you have no outstanding) and you want to buy a laptop that is worth RM5000... you bank in RM1000 to that credit card account. Technically your CL is still RM4000, but your available balance will be RM5000.

So be careful with HLB CC and make sure you pay before or on the Due Date.
I've asked for waiver from their CS.... and they told me to pay the Interest first, wait to be creditted in the next statement  doh.gif  doh.gif  vmad.gif  mad.gif

I thought the current policy is; you will only be charged interest if you missed the due date by 2 days? Wasn't this implemented by BNM?

QUOTE(charymsylyn @ Jun 17 2012, 12:10 AM)
The latest ABM policy is no late fees if payment received/clears after 3 days from due date, which does not necessarily mean the same as no interest charged. As per the example, different banks interpreted the policy differently. Basically if you are not sure, just pay before the due date.

Not sure hence the question.
As shown by charymsylyn, it turns out to be a no late payment fees instead of no interest.

I applied for a Platinum MC with CIMB but got rejected. blink.gif

Currently working in Australia, family in M'sia. Annual income >RM150k. I told them about my situation before applying and they said overseas income is OK. I submitted all requested documentation including payslips and confirmation letter to them, but when I called up to check on status the lady just said 'unsuccessful' and wouldn't give me any reason. She just said wait 6 months and apply again. rolleyes.gif

I'm planning to use my card to pay the downpayment for my new car.
I recall reading somewhere in here that some dealers/distributors won't allow this if the amount is big... my DP is RM45k.

Share you thoughts/experience please.

Applied for 2 different cards at 1U just now.. was surprised to find out that all they need is your IC - insert it into the KWSP machine, use thumbnail verification and they print/check your records there. I asked if my salary slip is needed, agent said no.

When was this implemented? hmm.gif
