anyone have encounter this before? I did call Maybank CS and they did mention they can accept pledge of FD but it subject to processing department to open the figure.

anyone if have my same problem, i hope you can enlighten me estimate what amount need to pledge, a basic estimation is good so when I go apply can nego with them biggrin.gif
*
In another bank, the amount pledge = Credit Limit. Take note that there might be an extra fee. My personal advice is, dont bother to upgrade to Plat by this method as you dont get much benefit from Plat anyway. Deposit the money to other FD with higher return is more beneficial biggrin.gif

Hi all, 1 question..

If I am in a spot where i cant use my 5% Titanium rebate and Amex rebate.. I have to choose between OCBC 1% or Maybank2card Visa (I think its 2xTP)... which will you go for ?..

saying the transaction is RM100..
*
QUOTE(fruitie @ Mar 17 2013, 01:58 PM)
Maybank2Card VISA is 1xTP.
*
Fruitie is right, MBB 2 Visa gives 1x TP which is ~0.5% so OCBC ti is a clear choice here.

Hi guys, way back on 1st January 2013 I published an article titled My Bragging Rights and My Credit Cards 2013 at my main blog which have been subsequently deleted by google. Anyway I just published an article at my previous blog (which have yet to be deleted by google), So if you are interested, click here to see My Credit Cards as of  January 2013.

In the above mentioned article, besides going on a bragging spree, I also touched on conversion of MBB Treats Miles to Enrich Miles.

Nice to see you still around biggrin.gif and finally a blog post

It is not stated at the application form? You can find out the docs from HSBC website.

Anyone cancelled their booking with Agoda and received the entitled refund on the credit card payment before? Just would like to know if it will be a hassle or straight forward issue. Thanks

Recently I apply for this UOB credit card. Thn i received the UOB platinium One card 1 month ago. But then I changed my mind to not use the card, so I did not activate the card at all.

Today, I recieved a letter from UOB. When I opened it and surprisingly it is the bill statement. How would I get a bill statement when I not even activate the card?! The bill statement is RM50 for GST.

So I call UOB for confirmation. The operator told me that I did not activate the card but charges for RM50 GST is automatically applied when the card is approved no matter the card is activated or not.

I felt like being cheated. So I asked her to cancel the card and reverse the RM50 charge. The operator told me the charge is cannot be reversed. So I must pay the RM50 even I want to cancel the card.

So she recommended me to use the card at least 3 time in 30 days (actually is 60 days but 30 days already passed) to get RM50 GST waived. Then I ask her, so I can use the card now? Then she said my card is not activated so if i would like her activated it now or not.

I felt totally WTF. First they charge me RM50 without my card being activated. No sms, email and letter to notice me about it. The worst part it that, I can't even use the card because it is not activated!!

So is this action by UOB consider SCAM? What should I do? any advice?
*
The bank is right. RM50 GST is charged by the government and is charged regardless whether the card is activated or not.
The operator is good in a way that she informed you about the 'swipe 3 times for RM50 cash back' promo.
She asked whether you want to activate it or not, right? How are you going to use the card if it is not activated.
Also, isn't there a statement about the GST tax on the application form? No sms/email/letter is needed.

What you can do now is to activate the card, swipe 3 times, get the RM50 cashback and cancel (if you want). Make sure you read the terms and conditions of the promo and see if you are able to get the cashback before the RM50 GST due date, else you may need to pay it first to avoid interest.

But that did not happened to other bank which I applied but did not activated.
Yes, how would I use the card if it is not activated? How was I was charged for smthing that I could not use?
and there are no sms or anything for it. I not even know I was charged for the card that is inactivated.  I loss 30 days for using that card as part of the promo.

refer to my additional reply above on what you can do.

Some banks apply the auto thing, some don't but why take the chance. Once you apply, you ought to be aware about the RM50 GST already.

You do receive the monthly statement right?

Yeah man, some agents will say anything to push the sales. Just take this as a lesson and next time, you know what to do. Read the terms or get black and white.

Hi guys,

I have AMEX corporate card from Maybank, just charged up about RM 11k by various transaction oversea.
Hi, i dont own the corporate card so maybe it is different. For normal maybank cards , we can see the statement balance from M2U. Try sending an email to AMEX.

Is there any limit how much i can pay amex using maybank2u? Cuz my ATM withdrawal limits 1k. Does that apply to online payment using maybank2u?

My company will bank in the claim in the few days close to the due date. And i am afraid i cant pay all if maybank2u has any limit per transfer to my AMEX.

Thx for info.

Not sure, never face any issue before. I suppose as long as your account has the sufficient fund, you can pay.
