QUOTE(butthead @ Mar 12 2012, 04:20 PM) they have mostly MTB stuff... why would you be interested in a jamis anyways? looking at the Ventura range? or Xenith? yeah, saw their album on facebook. :/ am interested at the ventura range, something nice and simple for beginner bike. I had jamis as my first proper bike, trail x3 The Ventura Comp was voted for the best sub 800 dollar bike in the market in 2009.... they are not bad for being a butted 7005 aluminum frame... xenith, i have yet to see one yet... |

Hi all sifu! Need some opinion here. I have 2 choices for my bike computer. Polar cs200 and sigma 1909 her. Which is a better choice eh? I'm getting it from my frequent flyer program so its practically free. Thanks !

QUOTE(butthead @ Jun 22 2012, 02:15 PM) i see, choosing from 2 diff bikes with 600 bucks diff. Cheaper one has alloy chainstay and normal rims and microshift groups. and the one 600 more exp has a carbon chainstay and mavic wheels + 105/tiagra groups. So am thinking if the diff is worth the 600 |

QUOTE(butthead @ Jun 22 2012, 04:36 PM) if a well made hybrid carbon end bike... i think it is worth 600 irregardless of the parts.. they just used carbon on the part where there is massive power transfers... this was a norm in the late 90s on high end bikes before the big advancement of carbon frames... I see. The only big difference i see between them were the chainstay and the mavic cxp22n rims. as for the groups... it depends on what wheels vs which mavic wheels... usually it will be aksium race... if you get ksyrium equipe, all the better... microshift is no different from shimano...it is cross compatible with shimano but a different shifter layout... i would say personal preferences win at this point ...full microshift group? seldom seen it on a bike... wat bike is it btw? Its a khs flite 450 full microshift. |

QUOTE(butthead @ Jun 25 2012, 02:43 PM) the carbon chainstay is really up to your personal preference... in terms of performance in stiffness.. it would of course be better than the full alloy bike... but still succumb to bottom bracket flex... is the higher model this http://www.khsbicycles.com/05_flite_500_12.htm or this (ultegra -105 mix) http://www.khsbicycles.com/05_flite_720l_12.htm if the latter one then really quite worth the RM1.4k difference.. Btw the bad part here is i took a 52cm top tube frame. I'm 180cm tall. is this ok? :/ |

QUOTE(butthead @ Jun 27 2012, 04:31 PM) most people will tell you it is too small.. but i'd say go with what you are comfortable with.. it has yet to be too small a frame yet to call it too small... But le butthead, how to know if im comfortable with the size of the bike? =.= i know this sounds dumb, haha.slightly smaller is usually the safer way as you can still extend your reach with a longer stem and stuff... once you are on too big a frame... you are quite limited although you can try to use the shorter MTB stems to reduce length and stuff.. that is if you don't mind... Btw my seat tube is only 47, is that too short? my lbs said length of seat tube is not as important as long as the top tube is long enough. QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Jun 27 2012, 05:09 PM) My bike is S size too, around size 51 i think.. Hmm, in that case i think my top tube 52cm is fine then =.= I'm 178.. but my torso is not that long.. I just adjusted my bike, seems to gave me problem for ride above 40km previously.. yet to test out the new position.. you won't usually able to experience anything odd below 50km i think my stem is only 90mm, can extend to 110 if needed what adjustment did u make for your bike? i still cant believe i am taking a size 52 bike =.= Added on June 27, 2012, 5:21 pm QUOTE(mavericksam @ Jun 27 2012, 05:12 PM) guys.. am planning to get my first road race bike... was being recommended Nice list, emc r2.8 was on my list too 1) EMC Etape R2.8 2) Polygon Helios 200 3) Volcano St Gallen 4) XDS 700390 Team Machine budget is about 2k plus minus... any idea about these? http://www.khsbicycles.com/05_flite_450_12.htm After months of searching finally found a nice and cheap one (Y) Price after discount rm2,250 This post has been edited by yuanyi: Jun 27 2012, 05:21 PM |

QUOTE(butthead @ Jun 27 2012, 05:26 PM) comfortable as in you are not too out-stretched in whichever handlebar position you are holding... don't feel un-easy on the bike...also it is a preferential thing... some people like to sit more upright for long riding... some like the low-down pro look and sacrifice some comfort... Hmm, le butthead, bike sizing really doesnt make sense, haha. yes... seat tube almost does not matter nowadays since it can be compensated easily by seat post adjustments... top tube is hard to affect the changes as it requires stem changes of different lengths... maybe you have too much activity with your hands.... if you know what i mean it's telling you to stop it... frame sizing doesn't make sense sometimes... for instance and lack of examples... Alberto Contador (1.76M tall) frame size : 52cm stem : 120mm top tube length (assuming it's ETT) : 537mm saddle height from BB : 748mm http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/pro-...rmac-sl3-27088/ Lance Armstrong (1.77M tall) frame size : 58cm (Trek pro fit geometry) stem : 120mm top tube length (assuming it's ETT) : 573mm saddle height from BB : 758mm http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/pro-...6-series-25622/ Chris Horner (1.8M tall) frame size : 58cm (Trek H2 geometry) stem : 120mm top tube length (assuming it's ETT) : 560mm saddle height from BB : 760mm http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/pro-...ssl-atoc-30223/ Tejay Van Garderen (1.85M tall)... would have wanted ryder, but no pro bike review frame size : 56cm stem : 140mm top tube length : 565mm saddle height from BB : 817mm http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/pro-...-mclaren-30841/ Andy Schleck (1.86M) frame size : 58cm stem : 140mm top tube length : 573mm saddle height from BB : 782mm http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/pro-...e-france-30814/ as you can see... might not make sense.. You are totally right about the comfort on bike. I think the 52.5 cm top tube is alright for me then -.- phew.. For the riding position, is it necessary to have ur feet touching the ground btw? |

QUOTE(nlik @ Jun 28 2012, 12:04 AM) i think i got lucky. me 178cm height and very happy with the merida 903 SM frame. geometries . Seat height is like set to '80', and it took several adjustments of the seat height , front and back till it felt just right. Nice one. I saw ur model with he same exact size in my lbs. Nice bike btw! But bit over my student's budget lol.Tonight the group attacked Kesas from bkt jalil to Glenmarie and back. Added on June 28, 2012, 1:48 pm QUOTE(minizian @ Jun 28 2012, 11:21 AM) i went to TS bike shop to look at emc and an old man treated me badly. I wanted to show him my r2.2 pic to him and he scolded me "U cant take picture here, its a rules" i was like wat the F,,k i just wan to ask him if he had that in stock or not.... Then i asked him if he carrier mavic wheel he just snobblish tell me "look there" pointing at stack of wheel, "if it was there then we have stock, if not there then no stock"... i was so pissed off and walk away shaking my head I think the boss simply ask an old man to jaga the shop.
