Hi All,

I am looking for a good MTB in the range of RM3k or below if possible (might be able to stretch to 3.5k). I was initially under the impression that the bikes were cheaper but when I went around surveying the prices caught me off guard!

I'll be using this bike to go to work (the office is about 10 mins away; up hill and straight roads), for easy/medium difficulty trails with friends and also for long distance rides around Putrajaya or cities.

Any suggestions on the bikes and where I can get them at cheaper prices?

this would be good if you accept buying from ebay... taiwanese love these..

is it safe to lock my roadbike at Batu Caves to go for stairs climb?

Friends want cycle to Batu Cave and run up... my concern, is there any bicycle parking and safe to park there?

I thinks need to lock the bike to lamppost or signage post! Anyone have experience this?

i wont recommend a size personally from height and inseam measurements as all frame geometries are different...

you have to try out different sizes to see what fits you properly as some people has long torso or freakish long arms which will require a longer effective top tube length and some people the other way round despite both being simillar in height...

inseam alone pretty much determines the crank to saddle length and does nothing much to help bike sizing...

of course there is a standard guide based on height and inseam if you look on the net... but that only serves as a rough guide and you will have to size it up or down depending on how you feel on the bike...

do you need cadence sensor? if yes, go with polar. if no, go with sigma.

i have polar cs200cad, was difficult to set up the first time. had to really get the position/distance between head unit and sensors correct. you can throw away the manual.

the downside of CS200, the speed and cadence sensors are sealed, so you can't replace its battery. on paper, it's good for 3500 hours. but, actual might be less. the speed sensor is RM1xx. HR strap and head unit batteries can be replaced.

i so want to climb through your monitor and stab your fish balls with a knife now...
it's a shop almost facing a big empty lot... yellow sign board... can't miss it... you will see it jus as you are sligtly veering left along the street...
get the rotor 3D cranks too... you should see it hit 7.5KGs... or so i think...

as far as i can tell you... the R7s isn't exactly the most reliable wheel out there... i own a pair of the 1st gen ones which uses the j-turn spokes.. the current one uses a straight pull one... and i broke hell lots of drive side spokes without much reasons... if you are worried about wheel reliability... i suggest you get a pair of 32-spoke set with mavic open pro... a properly build set of wheels will last very long up till the rims wear out...

was jokin about the rotors... it's not for most people...

i dunno how much you can save by swapping a 2nd hand set of 105 grouppo..and you risk it havin unforeseeable problems... i am not saying you need to build the most perfect bike in the world... but saving money this way might not be too worth it in the long run...

furthermore,  if you take a look how much a set of 2nd hand 105 costs in BBS and how much you think you can sell it it making a profit swapping a new for 2nd hand group... that's like saying buying a brand new vios and swapping in an engine lantai from the chop shop so you can sell your new one for a profit...

errr... i got no knowledge about shades except i did own a pair of rudy project back in before 2000s... for only a 100 bucks... i didn't know what it was until i saw jan ullrich wearing it during his deutsch telekom days...

those shades must costs more at least 500 bucks nowadays... sibeh expensive...
