Hi guys, I'm interested with Xperia P for its design, camera, and white magic display, but somehow I'm worried about the loudness level of the loudspeaker for this phone as what I've seen in GSM arena its rated Below average score. I don't want to own another low volume phone again as my current phone is Vivaz which I always missed a call due to the ringing volume is too low...

Any Xperia P User kindly tell me how is the ringing volume for this phone?

yes this method works. I updated mine to ICS CE this way.

comparing the Xperia P and Xperia Ray, for me the Ray seems to have a louder sound. However, the P itself is already quite loud.

Important is to choose a proper ring tone so you can hear it clearly.
*
I see.. so far I've never tried any Xperia Ray yet, But I know Neo V without XLoud ringing is loud enough for me... By the way how's XP camera compared to ray?? Battery life? I heard coming ICS going to make XP battery life 4X longer...

I've tried to select ring tone that going out loud, and those ringtone is ridiculously Loud on my W995 until I only have to turn 70% of the volume only, But having the same ringtone on my Vivaz, even at Max volume its still so soft until I always missed my call! can't even compared to my previous W995 on 50% volume!!

QUOTE(wanttobuylaptop @ Aug 28 2012, 10:46 AM)
for me P is already too loud for me. with Xlaud on there is some buzziness when having max volume. but tat is overkill. around 70% is speaker is very loud already.
*
Can you clarify a bit on the "Buzziness"? It seems like Xperia P is back to my option again! rclxm9.gif Just wondering why GSMarena says the ringing volume is low and makes me worry

hey guys this phone battery life ok or not?

just on fb and twitter, taking picture using wifi or data 3g..

can last long 1 days?
*
I heard the battery life greatly improve after ICS update... Sony claim up to 4 times. They say can easily reach 2 day for normal usage... What concern me the most is the Loudspeaker ability only so that I don't miss a call easily in Shopping mall

i thought cracking sound is normal in full volume with xloud? too loud already i guess...
battery life about same...seriously, the problem is with on screen time and our batt simply too small.

Added on September 5, 2012, 12:30 pmi also realized that the phone will no auto discharge with the battery is full...
*
I heard from Sony forum they advise keep it running for about 3 days after ICS update then battery life will increase... not sure if that works with your Xperia P

what i did was basically full charge, then let it drain to 0% then full single charge to 100% again for about 3 times.

Seems does improve batt life. buy may just be placebo effect

battery is shit, really. but the design of the phone and overall is stunning.

Hey guys, after ICS update, did you guys try the Extended Standby mode? Just simply go Settings – Power Management – Activate Extended Standby Mode. I heard this helps improve battery life even thou it sounds more like a function that disable data after 15 minutes...

Im using SmartConnect instead. It was previously known as LiveWare Manager.

basically, it will use specified times to enable/disable settings.

e.g. 6am enable wifi, off data.
6pm, off wifi, enable data.

Does help to extend the battery life.

*
I see the Extended Standby mode to be quite useful to me as I don't use much data and wifi as well, so I guess this may helps in keeping the phone stay longer?

besides that have u guys tried with the Extended Standby mode before? How long can it last?
Let's say the usage will be roughly around:
10sms/day
30minutes of Call a day
30minutes of wifi connect
10minutes of photo snapping
30minutes gaming
1 hour of song listening

I just want a preparation to accept the fact of the battery life on my usage...

i think if its bundled with XP then it should be with the Smart Headset not Livesound. Note tho that they look exactly the same.
*
What difference between those headset? got different function? Sound Quality??
Besides that i don't understand what u mean by LiveSound is not supported with XP... is it plugged in 3.5mm jack but no sound? I got no idea about this... sweat.gif

difference is :

Livesound Headset works with Sony Ericsson phones ( e.g. Xperia Ray, Xperia Arc)

Smart Headset works with Sony phones ( Xperia S, Xperia P).

what that means is that if u plug in the unsupported version, nothing will work at all ( no sound, no mic ) and even prompts you a message "headset not supported".
This is Smartheadset:

Perfect Partners: Xperia S, Xperia P, Xperia Sola , Xperia U ( although one of the guys here tested it was not working)

this is Livesound:

Wow. no sound some more! Then i have another concern here... Does Xperia P works with normal 3rd party headphone? Besides that the Ear bud in the box of Xperia P is MH750??

with normal 3.5mm headphone/earphone sure will work....  just need to be careful when buying the one with mic.

there is 3 type of 3.5mm jack for stereo phone (should be more if mention mono).

user posted image

new Sony Xperia (2012) line phones use CTIA 3.5mm standard (basically same as Apple's iPhone)

if want to use omtp in ctia jack or vice versa... get the converter like LU2

How does it perform? is it good enough so that I don't need to spend more for extra headphones? I kinda miss my W995 headphone performance....
