I'm planning to get an Xperia U, but not quite sure what's included in the ori set package. can sumone enlighten me? also, for recent buyers of Xperia U, what is the latest version of Android out of the box?

thanks a bunch!
*
colleague just bought 1 yesterday from 1U promo for RM750.

What's in the box:
-ori charger
-ori usb cable
- screen protector
- phone
- battery ( yes it's a removable battery)
- extra bottom cap ( if buy black version, u get black and pink cap. If u buy white version u get white and yellow cap).
- car charger+usb cable.

Latest version is still GB but there is an ICS update that should be arriving in coming weeks

on ICS i feel it's best to switch off animations/transitions and force GPU rendering so lag is less noticable.

can i beam 2 phones together? without using any chips i mean
*
android beam relies on two aspects: software ( must be ICS and has the function enabled) and hardware (Must be NFC phone).

what you do is switch on android beam, and when you tap two nfc phones with android beam enabled, u can send files, pictures, video, music over to the other.

+1... i am highly agree with you, why cant sony just offer a bigger battery / delovep a better battery tech since they are oem battery for so many notebook... my xp also sucks battery...worse then nexus i would said, and my nexus have more apps then xp...my god...so when i reach office, i charge it, even if the battery still got 80% or wat... cause u nvr know ur battery anytime will just drop 10% in 1 hour in 3g idle mode.
*
main drain is because of the WhiteMagic display. I set it to super low brightness (less than 1/4).

i'm just discussing a phone as it should be smile.gif
i appreciate that bro is providing me solution, but that's really is sony incompetency in making a good device sucks..
i am seriously worry about sony survivability. nowadays almost all of their business unit losing money, and whole corporate balance sheet is seeing red for many releases already..
*
agreed, but also have to look at the logics.. the screen is realistically 4X brighter that normal phones. so pushing it at a standard setting (like the gsmarena test) skews the results. (i.e. a 1/4 setting is already equal to at least 1/2 or more on standard phones like SGS2).

It's like saying, i bought a 3.0 engine car, and then complain that it drinks petrol like water compared to a 1.0 car. Just my 2 cents.

and what is the latest price for xperia u?

Yes and Yes,

Galaxy Y is too low spec compared to U. ( I owned a Galaxy Y and my wife uses Xperia U).
Latest price depends where u get. I 've seen ori going for RM750

eerr....wats that?

personally i prefer official updates...mainly coz theyre simple to do

not much of a phone techie to know how to go with custom roms.

besides,,,the phone is for the wife... so i just want it to be up to date before handing it over to her as a surprise
*
Just to give some info since im on AP set.

My AP set comes from Taiwan, so ur update is still using PC Companion. Difference is that since the updates are pushed by region. E.g. i will get the notice when TW has an update. PC Companion itself is not region specific, it depends on your phone to pull the correct update information.

Alternately, can flash an official generic ROM. Which means that it is still authentic firmware from Sony, but for different region. e.g. Generic Europe ROM so your updates will be based on when Europe gets their updates.

my suggestion would be if your a 'techie' type of person do consider the AP - cos ur more likely to mess around with your phone tongue.gif

those not so techie, ideally stick with Ori warranty so any issues u can easily bring back to shop for rectification.

thanks for the info... i read something about setting the region in the pc companion or something like that? n how to find out wat region ur phone is from?
there is no region setting for PC Companion. it really depends on your phone to determine the region. To be specific, the SI number is used to determine which region the phone belongs to. Most (if not all) the sets should already be on ICS.

Perhaps what i can suggest is when u purchase it, check that it is already on ICS. go to Settings-About Phone and under Android Version you should see '4.0.4'. Under Build Number it should be ' 6.1.B.0.544'.

if not, ask vendor to update for you smile.gif

perhaps get those transparent jelly cases so you still see the red. The worry is scratching the aluminum back although it's not as scratch prone as iphone5 tongue.gif

blink.gif transparent jelly case? never seen one before.. got link?

showed my wife the nilkin matte case... she wants the dark pink karer... i personally prefer the red case though...
she does! rclxm9.gif

but shes gotta be a lil more patient before being able to use it... need to cut her sim to micro sim n also do the whole backup contacts thing.

Something like this. The clear version will allow the full red glory of the Xperia P to shine through tongue.gif
p/s: im using this btw. its a bit on the pricey side (rm30+SP) but quite durable and snug fit.

i think any of those running GB or ICS will alr have a hotspot feature. e.g. Galaxy Y ( makes a good cheap hotspot tongue.gif )
