im planning on getting a new laptop for gaming , especially battlefield 3 smile.gif

my budget is around 2-3k ringgit but i tak tau anything about graphics cards and gpu stuff . so can anyone here suggest a computer with specs decent enough for battlefield 3? i dont really aim for ultra settings, specs which can let me play the game smoothly without looking like garbage is good enough

To be honest laptop is not for gaming. I suggest you to get a gaming desktop instead.

Lets say if you really need the mobility and the portability of having a laptop, and you really want to buy a laptop, you can consider this one:

Asus N55Sf-S1515v [black], i5-2450M + Nvidia GT555m (2GB) + 1920x1080@2899[Bang & Olufsen]; 750GB (7200rpm), USB3.0, Sonic Master subwoofer

HP dv6-6c19TX, i7-2670QM + AMD HD7690M XT@RM3099[Beats], 4GB, 750GB (5400rpm)

HP Dv6-6114TX, i7-2630QM + AMD HD6770M + BluRay@RM3799 [Beats][2.63kg], [4GB RAM] Beats headphones, HP optical mouse, HP 500GB external HDD

For the Asus laptop, it comes with Full HD 1920x1080 screen. But you can't run Battlefield 3 on that Full HD 1080p resolution. Even with the lowest settings, it will lag. The Nvidia GT555M can only support up to 1366x768 at low medium settings, to get 30++ fps..

Thats why laptop is not really awesome for gaming.

If you want to get a desktop with RM3000 budget, you can easily play Battlefield 3 at any settings with a smooth gameplay without having garbage looks.

If you don't mind playing games on low then there's lots of option. If you're thinking battlefield 3 then it's going to be a problem though. I'm using an MSI GT683 with 560M card and playing 1376 x 768 low setting. Have to play this setting for smooth gameplay. If lower cards, I'm not sure if they can handle the graphics. Maybe possible to play at 1376 but with lag.

GTX560M is equivalent to a desktop GTS450, slower by 2% than GTS450. Shud be able to play at high settings at 1366x768? whats ur frame rate when running at high settings?

The laptop MSI GT683 is around RM5000 - RM6000? quite expensive...can build crossfire HD7970 or even GTX580SLi

Why do you need a gaming laptop when you have a gaming desktop already? Like you going to 'game' whenever you go right?

Anyways TS, save the hassle and just get a gaming desktop. Laptop for gaming generally is a waste of money (speaking based from my previous experience)

Thumbs up for that.

Look at how Battlefield 3 runs on Alienware M11x, Alienware M14x, with Nvidia GT540M and Nvidia GT555M respectively. You can't really run Battlefield 3 on high settings, probably low settings to get minimum fps. Same goes to the overpriced peace of shit Razer Blade laptop with Nvidia GT555M.

What about M18x, MSI, Sager, Asus Republic of Gamer? I know these laptops either support GTX560M, GTX460M, GTX570M, GTX580M, HD6990M, HD5870M, but by the end of this year, try running the upcoming games at ultra settings. They will suffer. EXcept if these laptops are MXM GPU powered, then u can upgrade the graphics card, going to cost a lot.

Desktop for the win, i have experience with real gaming laptops also (Asus Lamborghini GTX560M)
