I'm trying to flash a new kernel to my phone but in Win7 it said can't install driver or something when in download mode and Odin can't detect my phone. I tried using CWM mode but somehow the superatmos .tar file isn't showing up either even I already have put it in the internal sd card. Cause and solutions, guys? Mine G version btw.

QUOTE(TheLaptopDudeGuy @ Feb 26 2012, 06:37 PM) CWM only flashes .zip files, .tar files only can be flashed by odin or mobile odin pro. Have you installed kies? Yes. I thought someone said Kies suck? QUOTE(antt00 @ Feb 26 2012, 06:37 PM) You cannot flash a tar file in CWM. Only zip file with the proper script. If your rooted, go download mobile odin from market and use that to flash teh .tar file. oh, pardon my noobness. Somehow after all this reading of the guidelines I still can't somehow manage to grasp the understanding of this flashing kernel and roms. Sigh~ I there anyway I can make the Win7 detect the phone in download mode? because in normal mode it can connect to computer using usb debugging just fine.

Ok, thanks guys. Installing Kies now. Hopefully it works. Btw, to flash custom say superRom in CWM do we need to do the wipe data thing before hand? and how long does it normally take?

QUOTE(TheLaptopDudeGuy @ Feb 26 2012, 07:08 PM) Wipe generally doensnt take that long, maybe 1 min i guess Not the wiping but flashing the rom? I tried to do one earlier but it stuck somewhere 15-20% and I aborted by by rebooting the phone. Might give it a try one more time after I finished flashing this superatmos kernel.

QUOTE(freddy manson @ Feb 26 2012, 07:11 PM) i just posted a full wipe way, the correct way.. few posts ahead (look up) wiping ur system will make sure the ROM starts writing new config for the system, this is safer~ if u install via CWM it wont take long.. but if u use Odin, it'll take even faster! I'm in CWM righ now and I don't see that option. All I got is reboot system now, apply update from sd card, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition. So the wipe data/factory reset will work the same I guess?

QUOTE(antt00 @ Feb 26 2012, 07:48 PM) Are you rooted with custom cwm? Otherwise you only see the samsung cwm. No. But I do installed ROM Manager and my phone is rooted. Atm, flashing superatmos kernel using Odin. Say, how long does it normally take and where is the PASS gonna showed up if successful? right now on the message box I see it stuck setup connection for quite sometime. Added on February 26, 2012, 7:56 pmwait, the latest message in the box is upper or lower one because the upper one said added. Does it mean successful already? QUOTE(waveweaver @ Feb 26 2012, 07:58 PM) It much easier for you if you're using Mobile Odin Pro. Easier when flashing kernel/roms and also updating new/latest firmware. ~~just my two cents~~ I try to buy it earlier but payment failed. I guess I don't have enough credit on my debit card and at this of month I kinda can't afford it actually.

Yesterday downloaded odin mobile and manage to flash to superatmos kernel. But somehow I can't flash ROM. I tried to flash superROM I got from here. But when I try to open the file in odin mobile it says 'partition could not be found in file'. What does that mean? Any guidelines on how to properly flash ROM using this Odin Mobile?

QUOTE(waveweaver @ Feb 27 2012, 11:17 PM) You flash kernel/firmware (tar or tar.md5) with Mobile Odin. You flash custom rom (zip files) with CWM if i'm nor mistaken. Before this already tried a few times using CWM but it always stuck around 15~20%. I watch youtube tutorial it said to be done around 10~15 minutes only. But mine stuck around 15~20% for half an hour.

QUOTE(kazama82 @ Feb 28 2012, 06:26 AM) All updates you can find in kitchen pro. Added on February 28, 2012, 6:27 amIt could be ap set from Korea Added on February 28, 2012, 6:32 amI saw the file like. Zip. 001. Can you open the zip file after dload? Maybe corrupted? If zip file, need to used cwm.. Unless you need to extract the zip file to tar file, then have to use Odin. So try double click your zip file and check first. The zip file not corrupted, that's for sure. I can extract all files inside just fine. Emm, how to turn it to tar file? QUOTE(TheLaptopDudeGuy @ Feb 28 2012, 08:19 AM) Maybe the zip file is corrupted, try redownloading it. Also, in recovery page, does the top say CWM Recovery? Hmm, maybe not. I'm not entirely sure. I just open ROM manager and select boot into recovery. Just now I tried to do it again but somehow it different menu from before and try to flash the rom once again but immediately after it started it stop saying installation aborted. Atm, trying to download the rom zip file again just to be sure.

QUOTE(TheLaptopDudeGuy @ Feb 29 2012, 08:16 AM) Wish you a speedy recovery Added on February 29, 2012, 8:17 amWhy dont u just go into CWM and flash? No need to use ROM Manager last night I kinda messed my phone up. Can only go to download mode thus can only flash back to stock rom using odin. All is well now. Currently using SuperROM v1 with Superatmos v2.1 kernel. Flash the rom using backup and restore in CWM. But my CWM a bit weird though. Right now having trouble flashing to latest superROM version. When I click reboot to recovery in ROM manager apps, then the phone reboot, there's a some kind of progress bar in flash then android bot with triangle above appeared. I have to click the power button for quite some time to reboot the phone again before the phone goes into CWM properly this time. It happen every time. Does anyone know what's wrong? One more, I want to flash to lucifer kernel using Odin lite. Do I have to flash to stock kernel first or can I just go straight flashing it from superatmos kernel I'm using now?

QUOTE(antt00 @ Feb 29 2012, 09:11 AM) Your device sounds mess up. Start fresh. Flash lucifer kernel with odin. It should come with root and proper cwm. Then reflash a rom using CWM. Then flash whatever kernel you wanna use. OK, thanks for the advice. Will try it in a bit. At the office right now, sneaking..heheh Added on February 29, 2012, 9:32 amweird..the problem still persist though now on a different splash image. Already on lucifer kernel atm. Pick reboot into recovery. Reboot, phone model name splash image (below it a yellow triangle with exclamation mark), then some boot animation image I guess and then a dying bot with red triangle exclamation mark. And it stuck there until I hold on to power button for the phone to reboot in CWM again. This post has been edited by lord_aminkin: Feb 29 2012, 09:32 AM

QUOTE(antt00 @ Feb 29 2012, 09:39 AM) Keep going. Get into CWM, wipe data, cache, dalvik cache. Then flash a new rom. Looks like I have to do this later when I got back home. I don't have any rom file in my phone and I don't have a usb cable to transfer new one to my phone.
