Went for offshore training few days ago. During the helicopter underwater escape, people start taking videos and snapping pictures with their sgs 2 and iphones. I was doing the same thing, its just that when the chopper submerged, I went closer to the pool, submerged the phone and continue recording. Suddenly you become the center of attraction, people wanting to see the underwater actions. I even gave the phone to the instructor to record from a better angle and it turned out quite ok.

With the right tools and parts you can actually do the replacement on your own. I did changed my rokr e6 digitizer last time.

the same reason i stick with stock 2.2 i only change the launcher if i ever get bored with the interface 3G or HSDPA will happily eat the battery like we eat watermelons. and it also depends on the quality of the network signal in that area. weaker signal will make the phone work harder to keep it connected to the network, thus eating the battery more.

I've dropped mine for few times, fortunately most on the carpet and wood surface, protected with the cheap casing. so far the phone is still in good condition. Perhaps keeping your phone with stock rom will keep the harm out of the way?

I just ordered the so called gold battery from ebay. it claims having a rating of 2430mAh, if it can outlast the stock battery then it is good enough.

because of the free shipping. but most stuff I bought from hong kong with free shipping reaches me after 3 weeks. I had no problem with that.

Gold battery? meh, don't bother to buy. stock battery still better. I guess 1540mAh is the limit for that slim size. both andida & gold battery I use for backup only or when I travel.

I use wifi-tethering, gps & data connectivity quite a lot so I'll have to wait for those 3 issues to be fix first before jumping into custom roms.
