based on my personal experience, 2.1 on defy is much much better than the 2.2...so, dont update. only update if you want to flash to custom roms (CM or MIUI variants).

several times it did cross my mind to upgrade to phones with larger screen (e.g. galaxy s2 or galaxy nexus), but in the end the good overall performance of the defy made me decided to continue using it. its ruggedness (especially water resistant) makes me even more reluctant to change phone. i know the razr is also water resistant, but its battery life is poor (based on what i read). if moto produced razr maxx gsm version, then my defy most likely would get ditched...but until then, chances are i'm sticking to it.

yes..i dont know how it actually works but from what i read it uses nano tech material to cover the components of the phone..so water doesnt damage the components..
unlike defy which use rubber seal technology to cover all gaps on the phone...

Added on March 23, 2012, 9:24 amto those of you who have dead pixel problem, i suggest change the lcd screen yourself..it is not difficult at all. all you need is a T5 torx screwdriver..no soldering, no adhesive required...guides are plenty on the net...

but replacing the digitiser is a little bit more difficult because it requires more tools (i.e. t5 screwdriver, heat gun, credit card/pry tool)...and there is a chance that you might break the front housing...but it is still DIYable..

i am waiting for droid razr maxx...gsm version is coming to europe and middle east by may..dont know about malaysia. but if got defy 2/advance/2.0..better

I guess my friend already kena sembelih la...

My defy got two problems now..first, earpiece went dead, second, battery pregnant already..

I am thinking of ordering earpiece and battery online..but just now went to check out xperia v..quite a nice phone but my main disappointments are that the phone uses onscreen buttons (make the useable area of the screen smaller) and the users complaint about sleep of death.

I was also waiting for razr hd, but i dont think it will come to malaysia :-(

any other waterproof phones? I don't want xperia z..too big.

But moto has closed shop in Asia...even if there was a new and better spec waterproof phone, we may not get it in malaysia.
