A-GPS seems to be broken with PR1.2. I used to get fast locking with wi-fi even indoors but not any more. Can anybody else confirm?

Can you guys get a GPS lock indoors as easily as before with wi-fi/3G assist? My GPS is not a problem outdoors but indoors is the problem because the A(ssisted)-GPS doesn't seem to be working.

QUOTE(arsaa @ Mar 2 2012, 08:06 AM) thanks.Added on March 2, 2012, 8:26 amThose using lpsmagic 1.4 should be aware that it screws up your alarm when the phone is on. Your alarm will ring once then stop. The alarm works normally when the phone is OFF. But one good side effect is that it gets rid of the "Swipe to Answer" when you get a call. It will go straight to the next screen where you can accept or reject the call. I like this so I'm sticking with this version. Just have to remember to OFF my phone if I set an alarm to wake me up. I managed to get GPS lock inside my office room which is one of the most dead zone for mobile signals, not to mention GPS signal. In fact I noticed it locked a little faster yesterday. Will try later again. Hmmm...maybe a soft reset will help for me. Thanks for trying. This post has been edited by KennyKB: Mar 2 2012, 08:47 AM |

There is a new version of lpsmagic (v. 1.4.1) which fixed the bugs.

QUOTE(bai1101 @ Mar 2 2012, 06:04 PM) what is mfe? i think firmway because last version only suffer duplicate msg or end in wrong conversation. this time add another mia problem. crack me up. It still doesn't explain why others using the same firmware have no such problems. Maybe it is your social accounts or your operator? I would check these first before replacing the firmware. This post has been edited by KennyKB: Mar 2 2012, 09:43 PM |

QUOTE(UFO @ Mar 2 2012, 10:46 PM) Hi, I 'm facing this issue as well. Did your indoor GPS sensitivity change after upgrading to PR1.2? The 2 links you gave are not GPS issues related to upgrading the OS. They appear to be due to defective hardware.Mine 64GB Black with PR1.2 Updated... Even after 30mins indoor still Looking for GPS, so I googled around and found these. Soft-reseted still sames problem, might try hard reset then. http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=82011 http://discussions.nokia.com.my/t5/Maemo-a...N9/td-p/1194503 No idea whether is hardware problem or apps conflict problem...? Added on March 2, 2012, 11:31 pm QUOTE(eaglehelang @ Mar 2 2012, 11:04 PM) Same as most others, my GPS is fine as before, indoors, outdoors. Is yours 64GB or 16GB? Mine is 64GB, same with UFO.Dunno what's the problem with Kenny & UFO's PR 1.2 update Anyway it's not that I can't get a lock indoors, its just not as snappy as before. I may try this: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1127850#post1127850 Or just forget about it as the GPS performance is ok outdoors where it really matters. QUOTE(akudia @ Mar 3 2012, 02:27 AM) hi evryone Battery performance is better than most Android phones. It should last you at least one day with heavy use. For me I charge every 2 days with moderate use.sorry to interrupt your discussion about the firmware update i think im not owning the n9 rite now but im into it just wanna ask,how about the battery performance of the handphone? is it suitable for standard usage?coz im thinking of buying this for my mom.and she is not like the techy-typed person.as for now she use the old nokia 6300.thanks. It will be great for your mom because the Swipe os is very simple to use and not much can go wrong. This post has been edited by KennyKB: Mar 3 2012, 09:11 AM |

Why is N9 not suitable for first time touchscreen user? You can master it with 15 sec of instruction. Double tap to unlock, swipe from edge to change screens, swipe down to close app. That all. It's easier than Android or Lumia where you have to learn what buttons to press to unlock, bring up the app screen, the home screen and multitasking screen.
I agree with eaglehelang Lumia not recommended due dependency on Zune unless your mom is also a PC whiz. You also need many actions just to do simple things. I'm sure Andy can tell you more about why Lumia isn't so good for first timers. This post has been edited by KennyKB: Mar 3 2012, 02:39 PM |

QUOTE(eaglehelang @ Mar 3 2012, 02:37 PM) Because : our beloved N9 cannot play 720p higher profile, takda Firefox((not the official versionlah) takda whatsapp, etc. The mum will need to learn how to download from tbe community the non ovi store apps. You don't need developer mode unless you want to meddle with the os. I deleted my developer mode months ago and don't even miss it. Only a small number of apps are not available in ovi store and those are not essential apps. Firefox and Opera mini are already available for N9. As for 720p higher profile that is more for power users than moms.e As 1st time/meego user,I spent many hours searching and learning how to download, install the stuff. That also small percentage only. A lot of ppl wouldnt have time and patience to do that. Some ppl where is the developer mode, what its used for, they will blur |

OK, aspire2006, you've made your point but I want to read what Andy says about which smartphone is better for moms - N9 or Lumia. Btw, has any seen Andy? He hasn't logged in for 2 days, I hope nothing happened to him.

QUOTE(eaglehelang @ Mar 3 2012, 06:17 PM) He's over at Nokia 808 thread, saw his bayang there Nokia 808 thread? He must be thinking another phone.N9 is a beauty with the curved glass & all. Lumia spoils it with the 3 buttons Anyway, for those who experience inability to get updates after PR1.2 (indicator never stop turning) the problem has been traced to Filemanager - the one which was dropped from ovi store. Uninstall filemanager to cure it. https://harmattan-bugs.nokia.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1044 |

My indoor A-GPS performance is back to normal now. It was probably due to a missing location-settings.conf file; PR1.2 has nothing to do with it. Those who want more info can get it here:
