Aspire, agree with you on the DLSR not going certain places. Yeah, some venues dont allow DLSR cameras to be brought in if no media pass, need to leave outside. Security will check thoroughly, in case got bom, lol

Yeah, I got a 64GB N9.

If anyone is thinking of using a camera phone for sporting events, I think you'll be disappointed. There are certain situations where there is no substitute for a DSLR.

PR1.2 has no video call, only SUPPORT for video calls. Hope some third parties like Peregrine or Skype implement video calls soon.

Ya.still no update.btw, after i update to pr1.1 the battery drain faster than ever.i just left it stand by from morning 8am until night 6pm the battery drop till 43%
*
Your idle consumption must be high. This bug exists in both PR1.1 and PR1.0 and can be corrected by killing a process in terminal. I think the bug is already fixed in PR1.2.

I think pr 1.2 lag than pr 1.1. But it open application much faster than before.
*
The first time you reboot seems to lag because a lot of processes are running. Let it settle and reboot again. Speed will be back to normal.

nais app ! installed and this is what im looking for..hahaha.

im shocked at ram usage o_0, 94%

This is a Linux based os, not Windows. The RAM consumption is normal because Linux loads as many process as possible in memory. For Linux free RAM = wasted RAM.

One very good new feature of Maps. When you touch the icon at the bottom left corner it turns into a compass and the map orientates itself to the direction you are facing. Very useful.

Good news! Developers on maemo.org have made a breakthrough in cracking Whatsapp API. Now it's only a matter of putting in the GUI. Expect a Whatsapp clone on N9/N900 soon.

Make sure your wifi is working and check again. Sometimes you need to check a few times for it to come out.

in uni now, relying on checking for OTA update via 3g. stuck on 'checking for updates' but strangely enough, looked at datawatch and no data is actually being sent/received. looks like a bug on my n9 :/
*
Try it on wifi. Maybe it doesn't work on 3G.

are you saying that this thing just like connect a phone to wifi and then it will update automatically from the phone itself? or do i need to connect the phone to pc first>?
*
No need to connect to PC. Go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications and press the update icon at the bottom.

Would be nice if someone can create Facebook Video Chat integrated to tongue.gif

And Skype video chat as well but they have to be created by Nokia. Commercial developers are not very interested in N9. Peregrine seems to have dropped out of the picture.

Excellent summary of smartphone os, Andy. If one wants a simple os which works smoothly, go for iphone and benefit from the huge number of apps, if one wants power and customization go for Android. MeeGo is a sort of hybrid with the best of both worlds - simple yet optionally powerful with developer mode. As for WP I don't see what segment it occupies unless one wants a simple os but can't afford an iphone.

Apps for MeeGo will keep on improving. It's only 4 months since N9 hit the shelves and it is already quite good. I think most users will be able to find 80%-90% of apps they need now. Give another 4 months and I don't think apps will be a factor any more.

finally updated to 1.2! lost most of my n9qtweak stuff and msn sad.gif any way to get them back? scared to use it because someone mentioned a few pages back that it will cause damage to the device

edit: tried to update my applications but it still keeps saying device is up to date :/
*
Just install back your msn client. As for n9qtweak I would hold it off first.

it felt smoother even without performance tweak inside the developer mode..

Hi Kenny..most probably yes since it looks like impossible to sell it though..hahaha

It's a good phone anyway..

With more development I must say it will be a better phone in the future

PR1.3 is coming soon right?
*
PR1.3 coming soon? Aiyah...you are too greedy la!

If a Whatsapp clone is developed for N9 and if Android 4 successfully ported you won't regret your decision. Both projects are in an advanced stage.
