thats good...  brows.gif

i guess... using external keyboard is best option to solve latency issues right?
*
nah latency kicks in while playing games only.

eg walking hold down W for >6 sec and upon release in game will continue walking for another 1-3 seconds.
normal working day no such issues (unless i'm a cat)

but 2 sec continuous walking means death in FPS, cannot hide behind wall, just stroll out and die.
but yeah, im using ext keyboard these days anyways.

Hi guys. Do u know where can i buy original laptop charger for asus a556u via online?
*
never trust 'original' from online seller

just go to an authorised Asus service centre and order 1 from them.

A would be great, is it reliable?
*
A is good, as long as you don't trash it, it will last. (applies to everything)

but A will be out of budget. 14' already RM2300
X555uj is in ur budget (RM1999) but has not windows (OS) which you can ask them load a (arr! matey) OS in for free.

Spec will be good since its current gen i5 cpu and should suffice for your tasks or more.

What if compare A456U with TP301?

From what I can tell for TP301 against A456U,

Pros: Long battery life, thin and light
Cons: i3 + integrated GPU, if no gaming should be fine right hmm.gif

Anyway, A456U battery life is approximately how many hrs? Previous A455L eventho they got a sticker that says 3x extended battery life, it only manages about 3-4 hrs.
*
1 watch movie, speaker sound is bad. 13 inch not really good to watch movie.
2 although thin is nice, component heat management is questionable (been there done that)
3 i3 integrated gpu to watch hd movies will push the processor hard (heat and battery?) i3 6100U is also 1 gen backwards and heat is higher than the equivalent i3 7k series
4 component support, I've used quite a few asus laptops, the ones brought by many people, software updates will be longer. my u series stopped updates in <2 years (keyboard patch are non existence) whereas my N series has updates till win 8/ 3 years ish. A456u is more of a mass consumer laptop so more parts and more support.

For the same price, bang for buck,
TP301 you pay more for design
A456U you pay more for hardware

i would anytime go for i5 7200 than a i3 6100
when things pile up, it will still run more smoothly comparatively.

Haven't kept up with latest trends in laptop prices, how much would I expect to pay for an Asus like this:-

1. FHD at least
2. 256GB or more SSD (or mSata/additional SATA port, I do need quite a bit of storage but 128 is way too constricting for my work)
3. 8GB or more RAM.
4. Full-day (>8hr) battery life
5. i5 or i7, likely prefer i5 for battery life. My work is fairly CPU intensive.
6. Graphics card fairly optional. Only if it doesn't affect battery life, as that's more important.
7. Least important, preferably light (including the charger). My current N56V is almost perfect, but battery lasts like 8 minutes now and the laptop+charger is crazy heavy. New laptops look much better for that.
Definitely, my N56V (bought 2013) changed to SSD a year after I got it, never looked back. Even kept the old HDD in a special brace replacing the DVD drive which I never use.
*
just brought a 2016 late Dell mid gaming i7quad gtx for 3.4k with ssd/hhd combo FHD
build is relatively good and battery lasts 4-5hrs
and another 2016 late dell inspiron 15 i5 amd 2.8k HD with no ssd but fully optimized (means its as fast as my n53sn ssd in most parts other than ps/ai/cad).
can last 6 hrs so far (just need to swap out to ssd)

planning to get another laptop soon (rog thin one or xps)
but you are probably looking at 3k onward.

I would strongly recommend looking at the xps (and probably buying it overseas as its so much cheaper) if ur budget allows
FHD-QHD 97% colour accuracy, i7 quad, 16gb ram, ssd setup combo HHD, gtx 1050 and very good battery life (starting at 6k lah)

else go for ROG thin (red black design 1) 4.2k

Thanks. XPS is not totally out of my budget but there's depreciating returns on what is basically a consumable item in the long term. So like if I pay 50% more, do I really get 50% more utility out of it compared to something that's 3.5k or so. Based on the quick spec comparison there, not really.

Older liao, have to start thinking about actual use case and what I really will use rather than chasing the best =)

Thanks for your recommendation. All gaming machines, looks like. In particular I wonder whether Dell is any better now than 5 years ago (when lots of my friend's dell had to extended warranty cos use it every few months). Asus been good to me and family so far so currently tending towards just going for another one. RoG looks like a good idea though probably too 'cool' for me, let me check that out.
*
RoG full fat version cannot pakai for work (attention too great and too heavy, why cuz i owned 1), but the slim 1 will be cool/awesome in meetings and so.

As for Dell rep, Yes i agree that they suck badly last time, but i gave them a chance to renew themselves as the builds they are making so far seems to get better and better.

The inspiron 15 5000 is not gaming grade but for normal office use (word, excel, and basic cad process) RM2.7k (I asked for special discount)
The inspiron 15 7000 is mid tier gaming used for graphical works, cad, etc which is more than sufficient. RM3.8k (which went to RM4.2k later)

I must say that the the build of Dell has improved sufficiently and have some nice features like bios lock out, which is useful to lockdown the hhd and motherboard cpu in case of raids tongue.gif

the cons is that their software x hardware is still a mess as drivers are mostly proprietary and the default win 10 setup is farked up (drivers, software, running backgrounds, etc)
I had to wiped every driver out and reinstall back, cancel every hidden background in windows (xbox, alarm, phone, messaging, tablet, etc) to make the laptop work better.

but overall my N53SN is still my main workhorse which never crapped out (the build is awesome as always) but I am currently looking for an upgrade soon.

I would say that after >4 years a 3.5k laptop will pay off itself for normal usage and 2 years if for productivity.
And if you do heavy render works in the office, a 4.5k laptop will payoff easily due to the time saved, and the infrequent crashes of GPU/CPU.

The xps 15 6k-7k, i do agree it will need super justification for it to pay off itself, but you will benefit from the long running services of updated drivers from dell, which might be important.

Have never seen slim RoG, the ones I see are gila heavy and edgy. Will have to walk walk in mall to see, still quite doubtful whether will be suitable for work environment.

Software is not an issue to me as I don't use Windows (work is all on Linux and related anyway since years ago). So I look basically for solid hardware, no 'special' things, and drivers aren't a big deal.
*
search up ROG-GL502VM

hmm, if so might be overkill actually for you.

well just check the 15 5000 out, (need to turn off something in bios to get linux to work) but after that should be good enough to do much things.
toss an ssd and its blazing fast (since the bottleneck is the hhd in that model, i realised-lah)

Asus not as competitive in pricing nowadays, thats why I dont layan as much, but their gaming is still good (until custom makes).

i actually have a question, recently bought a UX331UN, encounter the issue, where it overheat when i put it in sleep mode and place inside my bag..

anyone encounter this problem on any asus laptop?
*
My N53SN also does this thing..
Something to do with not sleeping well, something trigger to wake device, then it standby and overheat and shutdown.
