Starbound is another Early Access game suffering from major feature creep, simply another indie developer trying to do too much with a small budget and too few manpower. One the reason why it's been stuck in Early Access for eons and still nowhere close of being a finished product for full release.

Lesson learned is that never buy into Early Access games. Or if you have than at least ensure it's from reputable developers with at least some credible experience in the industry and some solid source of funding to have a high likelihood it will get an actual full release.

As I continue to do the main quests, I had crafted one of the highest tier armor sets, the Universalist Armour.

Eh guys what's the 'general' quest progression supposed to be like?

I managed to get the 20 shards thing n power up the teleporter to go 2nd planet / town.

Then on the town accepted a quest to kill penguins and got owned big time by the ufo.

So am I supposed to go back to original planet and continue uh ... mining?

if you hadn't found out already, the place where you accepted the kill-penguins quest (kill dreadwing) is underground to the outpost. Go back up until you have a line of sight to your spaceship, meaning you are not under a shelter. Beam up, and then beam back down. you should be back in your base.

this works if and only if your spaceship is at your base.

what your main quest right now?

lol only on the 2nd or 3rd one. I just repaired my ship and then the quest ask me to go find some floreans and scan their artifacts or something.

owh that one. need to find gentle star and forest planet. I start live stream and upload to utube after that quest. scan Hylotl artifact.
