Then you can consider joining/starting the S3 thread. Be the pioneer if there isn't one already.  drool.gif

TS mind adding the SMSC for U mobile on first page for fellow GNex users? Can gather the rest of the carrier's code as well, just in case you have itchy hands friends like mine.  laugh.gif

Ask TS PM me, I do the conversion tongue.gif

hmm, what is this SMSC problem? Mind explaining?
*
When those people who recently get or changed new sim cards. They place on Nexus Phones which is an issue since Nexus One. Google didn't auto implement the SMSC. Thus, they have become invalid.

Now days smartphones only use normal SMSC format which is +6XXXXXXXX while on Nexus Phones they must in SMSC+PDU format. This explains the update error when user only enter the normal SMSC format without decoding the PDU format.

While SMSC+PDU format is existing on VERY OLD MODEL HAND-PHONES.

The PDU comes in 16 Hexdecimal numbers which encoded from SMSC number. With the tool, it comes handy for conversion and you only need 16 digits.

What kind of problems regarding Maps 6.3.0?

I noticed that the misalignment of the photo in Latitude was caused by ICS @ screen resolution bigger than 480 x 800 (didn't test it on lower resolution). Right now both my GNex and GTab showing misaligned photo, while SGS is fine.

Added on February 27, 2012, 1:40 am
We can't save +6xxxx numbers into the SMSC field as ICS can't recognise it. Hence have to convert into SMSC+PDU format, which is in hexadecimal. Use the link provided by droid13579 to easily convert it. Capture the first 16 characters.
Err... eh? I just used mine earlier just now. It does speak the road names. What seems to be the problem?
*
It happen since N1 not ICS. Even Nexus S in GB also got this problem ~ Correct for you biggrin.gif

Sometimes it might be a faulty sim card if the above method isn't working. I had the "sms unable to send out" problem with my digi last week and I've tried it with my old phone without success. Changing the sim card is the only option.
*
Your case has faulty sim card, but sometimes not all of us has it. Because, especially those people who port their service providers will face this problem.

Another one is called My Phone Number : Unknown Number error also arise since N1 also. This can be fixed by using a feature phone or a blackberry and iphone 3GS (Not iphone 4 due to micro-sim requirement) to edit your numbers so your number will visible again in settings.

If you not done that, you will get grey box when using an app requires sim data like whatsapp, line and viber.

Grey Connection = Not connected to Google Server.

Any recommendations for clear screen protectors? Was using one I bought from dcmugen's ebay store for my old Desire and was okay, but my bro using the nexus s screen from them didn't look so hot.
*
Try Boxwave and Martin Fields if you don't mind the peel effect. IMO, their peel effect isn't worse than those cheap ones. Unless you manage to found a clear no peel static SP, let me know. smile.gif

Funks, did you send back your xo for replacement/warranty claim. I've managed to scratch my xo during installation. Two long scratch that noticeable when screen on.
Now looking to try either sgp flex or good dry app sp
*
Dont refund and peel first, Take off your battery and off your device. Use the remaining installation liquid and spray on your microfibre cloth and rub the scratch part like 10 minutes. It should be clear in a week?

Screen peeling? Sounds like a dealbreaker to me, the cheapo one I used on my old Desire didn't have this problem.
*
When I said peel it's because Galaxy Nexus has curve screen. Your desire is flat screen of course don't have peel effect... DUH..

Peel it's because the hard plastic of static screen couldn't bend into the curve shape, so it peels.

About the curve glass.I can't really notice the curving.
Did I receive a fake nexus?! sad.gif
*
The curve screen isn't obvious like Nexus S curve screen. Actually should use the term, contour display

The easiest way is to look against a light source (TV, sun, light) with your screen. You'll notice the curved funny mirror effect (those that makes you look skinny/fat)
*
Or try face unlock you will see your face looks freaking weird than your house mirror~ (Not trying to said staring at GNex front facing camera often makes you look handsome tongue.gif)

yeah i read everywhere and it seems that its completely normal with the heat issue... wonder why they create such a phone with such heat rclxub.gif

i think if u use continuously for 1 hour it can even fry an egg sweat.gif

Added on February 28, 2012, 12:23 am
haha im personally using S2.. Nexus is for my girl and she keeps complaining about the heat doh.gif
*
First, It's dual core so the heat it generated is 2x.
Second, Galaxy Nexus has plastic cover which is like 1mm thin. The heat had to dissipate as well, unlike our PC which has heat sink and fan. You try touch your CPU and feel the heat as well.
Third, 35~40 it's normal temperature for a smartphone. If anyone says heat, they must be used to those 1GHz single core smartphones or ex feature phones and normal phones.
Forth, you use the phone while charging of course you will feel the heat because the battery is charging.
Fifth, DON'T BE OBSESS WITH HEAT ISSUES UNLESS YOUR SMARTPHONE HAS UNUSUAL TEMPERATURE!
SIXTH, GET AN CASE SO YOU BARELY FEEL THE HEAT!

Sorry for caps, I was being too emotional. notworthy.gif

How do u explain Iphone 4 not giving out heat at all? I understand your point, i also feel unconfortable with the heat given out by this phone.
*
I never state iPhone in first place! I said 1 GHz Smartphones like all mid-range androids. It doesn't to be like iPhone ok?

iPhone 4's back is glass, it does give heat. Just it is not noticeable like plastic. That's all...

Nothing is perfect, it depends on someone. Some people might feel it is tailor for your needs, some people feel it is utterly rubbish.

Everything has it's own weakness, there are many ways to overcome these minor problems. 40 Celsius isn't hot, human body temperature is 38 Celsius. Do you complain yourself, HOT in general?

You may have thin layer of epidermis skin, I couldn't blame you. You should get use to heat in like 2 months. smile.gif

Otherwise, go for feature phones. They won't give you "HEAT"...

Lets stop the heat problem, shall we. It's annoying, for us to mention about it any more since S2, IP4S... all dual cores LOL...

QUOTE(cougar richard @ Feb 28 2012, 09:54 PM)
I am on AOKP M3 with default AOKP M3 kernel for 3 days

Yesterday I rebooted my phone then it came to bootloop.
stuck at google and android screen. repeating several times.

then I booted into CWM to clear cache, clear dalvik cache. no luck still the same.

then I wiped data but still, no luck.

pulled batt several times and waited 2 mins still no luck.

restore image created previously using CWM failed at DATA restoration. I do not know why, probably bad backup or system problem.

then reflashed AOKP M3 and GAPPS using CWM, still problem persists.

I was telling myself this time probably hardware issue and I gotta go to SC already.

Then I use Gnex toolkit flashed Google Yakju image and thought it will recover. who knows it still in the boot loop. I was like gone case this time, need to send to SC already sad.gif

but luckily it rebooted for second time and this time managed to boot up.

Then I was like takut-takut wanna reflash AOKP again.

But honestly speaking, once go to custom ROM I dont feel like turning back.

Then dont care it and re-rooted and flash again.
everything redo again....sigh.... painful.

I was thinking why is that so?

probably I messed up with the SMSC number thingy.
Coz I follow this thread and copy the U mobile SMSC PDU HEX and paste to the SMSC entry there. Once I click on the paste, then the thing crashed and I kept trying several times to paste it, but still, it crashed.

Any Idea why during my CWM restoration the DATA cannot be restored and giving error?
The SMSC entry I need to press Update or Refresh after I keyed in?
*
Press Update will do tongue.gif
Refresh is to check the SMSC + PDU is valid or not valid.

They will, you should have their RMA before shipping. If you don't wait their RMA and ship by yourself. Blame yourself for being impatient. Read their instructions on their homepage before do so.

Try contact their customer service, they have quite good response. Relax, you are not buying an product which not included CS like Zagg does.
