'A' for the great effort put into the interface.

I feel that you can improve the header designs better. Currently there's too much space and there's no strategic placement with married typography along with it. So it degrades the overall look in a certain way.

The other thing I can't help to pick on..

It should've been done in CSS.

But I give room for that since you guys are engineers and not programmers.

Oh yeah, I'd make the text ENGSOC MMU Engineering Society beside the logo bigger so that the identity doesn't get mixed up with normal links or content.

Other than, congrats for having a working website for you.

It might be just me, but maybe wantanseller will do me the honours.. is there a problem with the subnavigation..?

ok.. shall do some changes on the header.

header using CSS huh.. yea thought of that but a tedious job for me. tongue.gif

I'm also worried that links in the headers appear in search engine description - makes the page description unorganized even though I've already specified in the meta tag.

Kinda blur with SEO.

Hmm subnavigation.. not a good way ? Ah I know.. not using CSS. Pretty time consuming for me to write the code for CSS for <ul> and <li>. Have only been playing around using CSS for less than a year.

Would love to learn to code liquid design one day. But on the other hand, I think it is better to focus on my engineering subjects. Heh heh.

Thanks for your advice, etsuko.

PS: Love to design, hate to code.

well, just cause i mentioned CSS for the website doesn't mean the header has to be in CSS. it can still be an image, just that the design could be improved. smile.gif

same goes for the subnav.. for me, i think the word category there doesn't work.. i don't know about the rest that's why I wasn't quite straight forward with that.

well, any time you need an honest opinion, you know where to get it. wink.gif

mmm..some how for me..i don't really like the navigation arranged like that..it looks kinda weird with the navigation's background stretch along...it made the navigation look dangling...but the site is not bad...didn't expect engineering students to have nice designs like this...btw..i'm a MMU FCM graduate...most of the FOE friends i have are really not good in designing...and oh ya...probably you guys should revamp your logo too...a bit outta place there...very small too...

thanks for the comments

the header have been improved. check it out now..

http://engsoc.mmu.edu.my/

About logo placement, cant think of any other way to arrange it.
Stretch header background - looks better for widescreen users.

Color? Purple blue was extracted out of the logo. Our name card is purplish blue color too.

Kinda thinking what type of font should I change for the contents.
Font color not too good either.

manudotcom:
I'd use a more simple professional looking font then something techno-ish. smile.gif And I do agree, remove the welcome to mmu. If you wanna have that, get a mascot. tongue.gif

aidlover:
layout is breaking in Firefox. I think the logo would work better on a pure white or solid color background. the website has got broken links and images. hmm.. that's all to comment on.

somehow i think for the ENGSOC Melaka...the flash banner is a little outta place..it's like it's been placed there coz there's an empty space there...
