Hey guys, Im currently in my 2nd year of my degree. Thinking of going to study at Australia during my 3rd year. The uni in Aussie is the twinning uni with my degree. Just wondering whether does the ptptn loan remains until I graduate? If not, what happen if I insist to go oversea to study?

I can't be too sure about this, you should ask PTPTN yourself, but if I am not wrong you are not allowed to leave the country if you have a loan.

really? As long as pay back normally can still leave country? That's good to know. shocking.gif I was worried that when I take up the loan I'll never be able to leave the country until I pay back every single cent borrowed. Can anyone else confirm with me regarding this?

I have the same doubt too. I am leaving in August. Currently have RM16k of PTPTN loan. I thought we have to pay back only after we graduate ?

Taking loan couldn't go abroad? How about inter campus exchange or inter uni exchange? -.-

Regarding the vacation, leaving the country is no a problem because I just came back from travel.

If we pay back the amount we borrowed before we go abroad, then can we apply another PTPTN loan to study oversea?

just to be clear:

u cant go abroad ONLY if u're blacklisted.

and u can only be blacklisted if u didnt pay ur loan for a period of time. meaning u can travel abroad for vacation, studying or even move permanently, so long as u set a monthly payment to pay back the amount every month.

Here's my case. Tumpang your thread =)

I graduated from diploma (Self-funded)

Now I am planning to study overseas in UK to do my degree.
Can I apply for PTPTN loan in this case, it's not like continue to study oversea, I've graduated here and want to pursue a degree.

Tumpang sikit,

I borrowed from ptptn back during my time in Malaysia (2011) and graduated (2013), have taken a gap year to work and recently (2015) pursue my post-graduate studies abroad and will not be back until 2018.

What are the repercussions for doing so? I have already requested for 'deferment of payment' or 'penanguhan bayar-balik' two months ago. But no news so far, ptptn told me to wait for letter of approval but it's been two months!

The ptptn consultant told me that unless I have already started paying and have overdue monthly payment of more than 4-months only I will be blacklisted. But I can't take any risks because I don't want to be stuck at the airport for being 'blacklisted'. Anyone have similar situations or have insight regarding this?

Should I worry? Or should I start paying?

Thanks

Normally exchange programme means that you are still a Malaysian student, with your details and tuition fees payable to the university at Malaysia.
Therefore, PTPTN still continues with the exchange programme. The contract still continues.

If you go for transfer a.k.a twinning, you will transfer your details to the foreign specified university, with your tuition payable to that foreign university.
Technically, the PTPTN contract will be broken once you go for transfer programme.
The loan will be forced to stop, and you need to pay the debt back.
Also, PTPTN exemption cannot be applied for this case.
When to start paying... that's out of my knowledge.
