I bought a kettle from Carrefour on Oct 2011 but it was spoilt yesterday. I've sent my kettle to Carrefour to claim warranty but their customer service told me that I've to send to factory because they only allow customer to make the claim within 7 days from date of purchase. If I'm staying at outstation and the factory located at KL, is it I have to travel all the way to KL to make the claim? If like that, my travel expenses definitely is higher than kettle price. So, is it meaning that all electrical appliance buy from Carrefour didn't provide warranty claim after 7 days?
If this is truth, I think the consumer should not buy those products are provide warranty in Carrefour.
Please comment. Tq

The 7 days is not warranty claim period la. It is cooling off period, not many retailers will offer such cooling off period. Even if the product is ok and you dont like it you can exchange for cash or something else.
They dont make the kettle just like retailers they only sell. It is the manufacturer that provides the warranty. So when you buy a product make sure after sales service of the manufacturer or agent is available at your place.

Check the kettle brand website nearest SC from your home. Or write to them asking the nearest place you can claim for the warranty.

If I'm not mistaken, normally we buy electrical appliance from electrical shop and we just send the item back to that shop when we need to make warranty claim.

Not always. Depend on the arrangement too. If they still the authorized dealer than is possible. But some just help you contact service center to come. For small items they will ask you send to nearest support center. Like Camera even if you buy in the house brand shop, you need to send back to the authorized center you self.
