hi guys , if i Overfill manual gearbox fluid for mitsubishi , will cause anything ?
i tot gearbox should hav AS MUCH FLUID as possible so that gear lubricate with fluid .
and last longer

And also , How if gearbox fluid BELOW minimum level ?
gearbox will hav problem ?

recently i hav shaking / vibrating while ACCELERATING . Not drive shaft problem. Not tire or suspension problem

so i suspect gearbox internal fluid problem

How to check fluid ? i am a small mec , can use mec ways to explain to me

tq

in the front view of gearbox, there were screw(i think it's 17 size)
if u open the screw, GB oil is drip out, then your oil is overfill....(not the drain screw)
u can fill oil (from top inlet) until u can see oil drip out from this front screw.
so this is the sign of oil max limit.

if u can see in this picture, the screw is just near to the reverse sensor...
if not mistake, there were 2 screw, open the lower one.

in the full amount of oil...this make more resistance.

less oil than recommended will cause friction and shorten gear life.

Overfill a Autobox is a big NONO... it ill cause the torque converter and the hydraulic valve inside the box to overload....

Quickly drain away some of it and maintain it back to normal full level ...

TS already stated manual transmission bro. Manual overfill will just make gear response slower thus car feel low power. Drain some out if you want better response.

if overfill in manual transmission, oil will leak out from the breather hole... yes gearbox also has a breather hole... last time i refill from the speedo cable hole... didnt notice it overfilled and started leaking... after thorough checking on the gearbox only found out the breather hole was leaking gear oil....

there is filler plug n drain plug designed for this purpose....if u refill it thru the filler plug...i dun see how it will overfilled for sure smile.gif

if u r refilling it at other hole, to check the fluid level is thru the filler plug only, it overfilled, excessive fluid will come out from there. otherwise, its not.

Some people don't fill through the filler plug because they have to pump the gearbox oil into the gearbox as the filler plug facing the horizontal plane.

3rd...

A manual box will not overfilled with transmission oil,it ill leak out from the hole once the correct level is reached...

ONLY AUTOBOX WILL OVERFILL COZ IT FILL FROM THE DIPSTICK HOLE ...

So this misleading me to believe TS is asking about Autobox smile.gif

use a long hose, fill from the top... not necessary to pump it from the bottom...

Still messy, esp when you still have the original intake box getting in the way. I've seen people do that without using a proper hose and end up wasting gearbox oil all over the floor. That's why some take the shortcut and fill from the breather valve. We all know that you can't overfill the gearbox if you use the filler valve on the side but I have seen many who has overfilled, including the topic starter (otherwise we wouldn't be discussing this topic, would we?). Had a friend whose mech overfilled his gearbox and as he drove up Genting he could smell gearbox oil all the way up. Upon inspection he found that it was so overfilled that it was coming out of the breather valve as he drove up.

Actually, it is very easy but some still get confused over it. Fill through filler valve until it flows out if the gearbox has no dipstick. If the gearbox has a dipstick, then fill through dipstick hole and check with dipstick.
