i design my skool wan is abstract..and my teacher keep complaining cuz she wants a meaning of the design...her 1st demand was Batik..OMG BATIK COver...

Just bear in mind that designing for printing requires AT LEAST 150dpi.

um 150dpi how ahh..?

the resolution leh...i think

Dots per inch (DPI) is a measure of printing resolution, in particular the number of individual dots of ink a printer or toner can produce within a linear one-inch space.

By default & for web purposes, the res is 72dpi, thats why when u print directly from screen it gets pixelated.

But 150dpi also only for graphic elements. If you use scanned pics and want to get picture crisp images, use 300dpi. Around 15mb-40mb in size for A4. Make sure u use good pc with good graphic card

150dpi also u hv to zoom very close make sure nothing gets 'pecah'. Learned it the hard way when I designed for my class page in 1999.

about the resolution. i change it become small dpi and make a low quality too

also make sure its a4 or any other suitable cover size...

i think the design doesn't represent your school that much...

for me it's quite good, for a school student.. keep it up! the first is better, and don't forget to put ur school's badge!

The only think I feel lacking is that It doesn't have the feel of a school magazine. A model (a high quality pic of student with school uniform - added some dreamy effect) would do a trick.

Anyway do choose a clearer font for your school name. It feel that as if you are a shame to put it there. Strike it out so when people see it they would definitely see (readable).

i got an idea for that.. u get those chrome effect tutorial online
then transform ur school logo to look metallic..
i did that last time and it looks really cool.. looks like a 3d metallic object

about the fonts i just wanna make balance with style title . Look like see for one focus

btw, what's 'cendekia' ?? is it your school name ?
agree with crynobone..you should make your text clearer..
try aplying some white pattern in your text then change the blending mode to soft light or overlay..

I like this one out of the rest But be carefull tho, cause my senior page had alot of strokes for the design and the publisher didnt print out the strokes...soo..have a nice chat with your publisher before handing it in.

for me the 3rd design is better compared to the rest but still very empty in the middle. it's still a work in progress rite? i suppose it's just design layout and u haven't put in school badge, school pic, and etc. my school's mag require all those. fortunately my design was chosen and already printed n distributed for good quality print, 300 dpi/ppi and cmyk colour recommended...

btw those things u do urself or u cope frm somwhere? where izit?

my design(my skool wan) most of them cope but i match and effect them ^^

All your design are rather crowded and over-colored. Is seem to be like you are actually making an "un-official" wallpaper rather than an official book/magazine cover. Explore more example of finish artwork by others.

As for Navigator's I already said what I need to say.

P/S: But I were to choose from either one of your, I have to say Navigator's slightly more suitable for a cover since minimum improvement

What are you mumbling about. I said yours looked like a wallpaper design (it's not the same as designing a magazine cover). I didn't say anything about who's a CnP or not, eventhough maybe Navi's got the background from some wallpaper he (or she) has manage to manipulate it to work nicely as a cover.

I gave a cincai comment already got this. n00b, if I use totally bad comment they complain, if other give this comment also complain. Next time, don't ask people if you can't accept negative comment unless your a damn pro.

your last year cover was better... except the part that the logo's opacity was lowered and the colorful frame.... try designing this year logo like that.. a simple background.. put your logo/batch in the center.. tada....

btw, can i ask you guys something.. does the design gets pixelated unless you design with a4 size ??? and may i ask , how do you guys design with a4? whenever i open the a4 size in ps cs ?? my computer got hang..(1 gig ram btw)
