i thought ozil is the catalyst for the counter attacking football. he is the sort to move out into space, get the ball and release it, creating the counter attacking chance. ronaldo or bale, they are just good at running and outlets for the right passes when counter attacking.

the creativity could be coming from isco this time. i think he suits the 1 2s more, with benzema of course. i hope morata can fill that striking shoes.

as for di maria, i dont think he's quite adept at running with the ball when counter attacking. he's great at cutting inside from the right though and his reverse passes are the killer balls.

i think counter attacks could be one option that can remain even if carlo prefers possession football. any team can counter attack. if by playing counter attack you mean real madrid should sit back, absorb the pressure and then only break at lightning speed once the ball is won back, i think that is the wrong way to go. real madrid under carlo ancellotti wants to play possession football to avoid team attacking them. kinda like spain a little, if you have possession of the ball, nobody can attack you. what remains is the press from opposition, but how long can that last? we have seen real madrid press early on in the game and then just faded.

so no, it is not that real madrid will not play attacking football. it still remains an option in games. the possession football is to avoid being attacked and penetrate teams which are set up to sit deep.

QUOTE(verx @ Sep 6 2013, 03:01 PM)
Just wanted to say that this is spot on. I've never been fully convinced by Mou's reactive counterattack style of football. Correct me if I'm wrong kevraul but we grew up watching the 1st galactico team under Del Bosque where we dominated possession regardless of opposition. Returning to this style is a good thing imo.
*
i am not a big fan of mourinho's kind of attacking football too but damn, the speed at which they hit when they get the ball is downright frightening. it should remain an option with ronaldo and bale now.

i thought the 1st galactico era we certainly had a fair share of the possession but, i could not quite remember, i thought it was quality possession. i thought it was very effective, nothing could go wrong with zidane playmaking, figo teasing, mcmanaman running down the middle, ronaldo killing the defenders one on one, raul in support. it was certainly great to watch. i enjoyed those times and i bet you do too verx.

there was a post from real madrid's social media in google+ which painted ozil like a true unprofessional hugging a woman and saying his life changed with the womanizing in madrid and all. news in ABC, Perez quoted that.

if the news was real, shame on Perez. but shame on Real Madrid's social media too for posting it, and then removing it. it was on my google+ last night and i couldn't find it now.

how many woman can you sleep with withing 48 hours or less, which is the estimated time for the transfer of ozil to arsenal to be finalized? strange why he was a professional when he was a real madrid player.

disgusting.

arbeloa can defend quite well. i think you think he sucks because he offers nothing going forward.

i think real madrid is still work in progress. but isco.....hell yeah!!

some teams need a longer transition time. some teams can adapt right from the off.
let me remind you that when guardiola took over barcelona, his first league game was a loss to numancia. even then, barcelona was a team that has always played good passing football, never mind the fact that current real madrid has been playing fast transition football for the past 3 years.
i think perez and zidane this time are both moving away from results football. they could be building a real team over time, and this can be proven with the acquisition of isco, illaramendi, carvajal and promoting morata and jese.
dont fret, just sit back and relax and watch the building of a team worthy of the fans.

higuain did not depart because of zidane's preference. it may be due to the fact that higuain is ramon calderon's signing. but most of all, it was his choice to leave after years at real madrid. everybody, and that including the club, has a freedom of choice.
i do not think benzema is zidane's pick. zidane personally had a hand in bringing in varane, yes, but not benzema. benzema's was a case between david villa and him, and i think it was jorge valdano who went for benzema at last because of what valencia was asking for david villa.
of course, the french connection plays a part. who else is better suited to help benz settle down other than the french legend himself? after higuain announced that he is leaving real madrid, zidane has only benzema left to support.

on morata, i think he is technically gifted. and quick. things he did last week against atletico madrid and for the spanish under 21 shows that he is indeed technically gifted. he just lacks the match to match experience. ancelotti might be slowly integrating him into the team. it's a delicate situation here. dropping benz right from the off and starting morata does no good to anyone. benzema's confidence may suffer while morata may be over eager. this transition has to be dealt with slowly. i think from now on, we'll get to see morata/jese more regularly.

the other thing is the defense line. i think there's just too much space between the defenders and the midfield, i think because i actually dozed off in a few of those games. lol.

now, i think, we will begin to see why some bale doubters may be justified in thinking that he costs too much

is illaramendi a clone of xabi alonso? so similar. i quite like what he does. he doesn't fly into tackles but instead try to 'nick' it - if that is the word, and if you know what i mean

not a bad weekend i must say, with both barca and atletico dropping points

khedira, with his energy, should press the midfield zone which is what he is doing now. i think this is good. illaramendi meanwhile, is the cover at the back because he does his playmaking very deep for teams that he played for. khedira is good energy/machine for madrid and i think he did quite well.

on the other hand, this juve game for me, is coming at a really bad time. 1 good game against malaga, still trying to find some groove and juve had to come visiting. a draw would be a good result bearing in mind also that juve was stung in the weekend and should be all guns firing.

We will play at home dude.. Draw is enough? come on.. we are not getafe. Home game is always to win. We win this match, I would say, we can paddle off already for group stage. Let younger player to show thier worth.

we played at home against atletico madrid too dude......
do you think koke/tiago/gabi are better in midfield than pirlo/pogba/vidal?
of course the expectation is to win every game possible, but seeing the situation, it's good to adjust expectations a bit sometimes in order not to get too disappointed

much has been said about the BBC (Bale-Benzema-Cristiano) but i would love it if ancelotti would only somehow keep this squad, not move for any other strikers ie: suarez. reason being, there is morata.

and then, i thought, in place of benzema, isco could come in. imagine the BIC, i think isco could offer a lot playing benzema's role.
