Crossover,
Then if I was not wrong, I'll need to recharge the battery until it's 100% again.
Is that true?
*
IMHO, it's not needed. The battery will calibrate itself over time. That's what happened to me always...

QUOTE(jenwai @ Feb 5 2012, 04:26 PM)
Thanks for replying!!
I just found out that I need to let battery die completely before charging it up again.
I'm now in GamerzRom, but I can get the Kies to connect.
I need to restore the memos that I backuped...
*
GamerzRom removed MTP Application which is required to connect to Kies (correct me if I'm wrong)

QUOTE(cradle0fFilth @ Feb 9 2012, 12:09 AM)
pikachu / fellow SGS master,

i updated my gamerz 6 to 6.2, but as i want to use the HD recording, i plan to flash to semaphore 2.5.0 instead of the the 2.5.0 bm

now, my question is, after i flash semaphore 2.5.0 (non-bm), should i still re-install all Thunderbolt script? will my kernel flashing deleted them?

amusing that i need to  reinstall all thunderbolt scripts, i can just folo the guide written in Thunderbolt's xda thread

cheers and tq in advance ey
*
It's like how Pikachu said. Flashing kernels won't affect Thunderbolt! I suppose. Only when u flash a new rom (be it wipe or non-wipe) then Thunderbolt! will be affected because it's in the system folders. Which means, after flashing a different rom, you'll have to reflash Thunderbolt!, but since GamerzRom 6.2 comes with Thunderbolt! pre-installed, you don't have to re-install Thunderbolt! clear enough? smile.gif

QUOTE(samsungXP @ Feb 9 2012, 01:09 AM)
u mean gamerzrom 6.0 flash to 6.2 need to do factory reset to get the thunderbolt script?u sure or not
*
QUOTE(pikachu01 @ Feb 9 2012, 01:29 AM)
Umm, where did you get that from?

I mean, after a ROM flash, you need to reinstall ThunderBolt!. I didn't say anything about factory reset. Where exactly did the word factory reset or reset come from?
*
Maybe samsungXP misunderstood the wipe/non-wipe thing biggrin.gif

annas473,

Seems like a lot people are complaining about the Semaphore kernel.  blink.gif
But, seems like everything is ok to me.
Should I change mt Kernel as well?  sweat.gif
*
If nothing is wrong with it, y bother changing? smile.gif Didn't have the mentioned problems with Semaphore myself wink.gif

Yeah. Was playing Drag Racing earlier.. Felt like I was holding a hot pan after about 20 minutes. ==

How are the new ICS builds? From what I read, ICSSGS seems really good although I can't make up my mind between this and Hacksung's version.
*
probably because of OC, that's why I disabled that.

QUOTE(Steven_aka_G @ Feb 18 2012, 01:38 AM)
Stable and smooth eh? Sounds interesting enough.. But here's the big question, is it worth it to change from gamerzrom to ICSSGS? =)

edit: I read that I have to flash a suitable kernel? Semaphore kernel if I'm not mistaken?
*
well, try flashing and see? laugh.gif I've just changed from GamerzRom 6.3 to Codename Android ICS 1.4.0 smile.gif

u know what.. b4 this i always use simplicity rom.. then tried gamerzom n back to simplicity.. coz i only use the stable rom, smooth, and suitable for daily use only..

then after 1st time tried this ICSSGS RC4.2, i stick with it.. mean im satisfied with it also :-) btw.. yes i use semaphore kernel since 1st day with this rom.. but heard some people said devil kernel also good..
wee.. so how was the rom? good eh? compared to icssgs n ths?

Added on February 18, 2012, 5:06 am

im not so sure but i guess not.. coz inside my phone got .mp4 n .flv file.. for sure during gingerbread can play both with stock player.. but with this ICS.. only .mp4 can n .flv cant.. other format didnt give a try yet..

but so far i only use mobo player so that i cn play the.other video format than .mp4 :-)
*
You can try Rockplayer as well. These 2 players rocks biggrin.gif Just flashed, haven't install back my apps. So I left it with WiFi on then went to sleep last night, only drained from 81-79% (fresh install)

QUOTE(jenwai @ Feb 18 2012, 08:30 AM)
gajahwhite,

I'm actually on Gamerzrom now. (Actually so far so good lah...) hmm.gif
Do you recommended me to go for ICSSGS RC4.2?
Seems like everyone is on ICS.
Just like you I prefer to use the stable rom, smooth, and suitable for daily use only.

Any comment on this? sweat.gif
*
Me too, I prefer a stable and smooth rom, don't wanna keep charging it (too lazy) tongue.gif For ICS, you have quite a few alternatives - TeamHacksung, ICSSGS, Codename Android, AOKP, Slim ICS, Dark Knight. The more notable ones are THS and ICSSGS. First look seems ok with it since last time I flashed smile.gif

EDIT: THERE'S ONE THING I NEED TO ADD. THE USB TRANSFER SPEED IS UNBEARABLE!! only 1MB cry.gif

QUOTE(Steven_aka_G @ Feb 18 2012, 08:40 AM)
Okay. So if I flash over to ICSSGS, I need to do it in CWM? Odin isn't required or mentioned at all in the ICSSGS page. Oh and, is the low storage messages frequent? I sms very heavily and I simply cannot be bothered to delete my messages.
*
Yeah, no Odin for AOSP roms. Hmm, set autodelete sms??

So I can't keep my messages? That kinda sucks cause I like reading back my old messages every now and then.
*
I think the low storage refers to ur internal sd where u have most of ur downloaded apps. That should be the one that is consuming the space. Don't quite remember sms having high storage space. Coz I set auto-delete

QUOTE(gajahwhite @ Feb 18 2012, 12:47 PM)
Messaging can be set either want to auto-delete or not as usual.

To flash to ICS, safe way is use odin to flash back to stock gingerbread (JV recommended) than flash the ICS via CWM. And yes i choose semaphore kernel to make the ICS flying smile.gif

About the USB transfer, i didn't check the speed but i feel normal during transfer picture, music, & apk file.

And for ICSSGS RC4.2, yes its a stable rom. Suitable for daily use (sms, call, capture pic, whatsapp, FB, browsing, games). And also have a good battery life, 12h? 15h? 17h? thats normal already for me with this rom. Easy to say, just need charge 1 times/day. Btw, the stock browser also good already no need to install opera or else. So if you guys ask me, yes i would recommend this ROM for daily use. But if u guys not satisfied with me, dont blame me coz maybe we got diff point happy.gif
*
Yeah, I'd recommend ICS too. Looks like the battery life's quite ok. Not so draining like it ways back then on AOSP Gingerbread. Maybe you can try the one in my signature smile.gif

QUOTE(night_wolf_in @ Feb 18 2012, 12:50 PM)
android OS eating 30% while exchange so much! keep in mind that this 7hrs of discharging at night while im sleeping! (so no activities).

in the evening i would install the semaphore kernel. cause im at the stock kernel of ICGSS
*
Android OS with high% in ICS is just a mistake/bug in display. Actually it doesn't drain your battery. It's just that it displays a high usage. The exchange service is what you might want to have a look I would say smile.gif

There is 2 download "I9000" & "I9000B".
Should I get two of them?

I flash the Semaphore_ICS_0.8.1.zip using Odin3 first with Re-partition un-ticked?

Then I install ICSSGS Rc4.2?
Should I Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe cache partition and also Wipe Dalvik Cache?

Correct? hmm.gif
Note:
I'm in gamezrom...

always use i9000.
i9000B is for Bell carrier, specifically for Brazil. For installation method, refer to Flashing ICS on first post or the link by disasternero, it's the same smile.gif

How you all managed to get ICSSGS working ah? I flashed twice, stuck at Samsung GT-I9000 screen.

First was recovery flash from CM7. 2nd time I flashed to stock XXJVT and CWM it, then recovery flash again.

Ended up now I'm on CM9. Not that I'm complaining. Feature sets by CM9 are just unbeatable.

I did all reset/clearing before zip flashing to ICSSGS. But still stuck at the boot screen. And you know what was worse than this? I can't even enter recovery mode anymore. So can't do another reset after initial flashing to ICSSGS. I think the secret still lies in XXJVU, which I didn't bother to try to download.

Nothing beats having power bar widget on notification dropdown that CM9 offers. Can't live without it. Be grateful to Sammy for putting it in TouchWiz.  laugh.gif

QUOTE(Harddisk @ Feb 24 2012, 10:23 AM)
CNA is which ROM? Never heard of it.

How are the features? Are everything working fine?

My concern are:
- FM Radio
- 3G video call
- Camera (still and video with full features. Will FC like Teamhacksung's when change still's resolution?)
- Battery % display (Ths one doesn't work)
*
CNA = CodenameAndroid. It's a rom from Galaxy Nexus, people port it over. Currently there are 2 devs working on 2 separate ports of it. One is Dax from SG and another be18 (check my siggy)

Fine to me. I like the customisations under CodenameAndroid. No camera FC like u said.. And we can change most of the things built-in too. Like putting the dropdown menu in the notification bar (not there on default, just have to tick a setting). And changing battery to %, small %, circular is also possible. Shortcuts on lockscreen can be customised too.. Check the rom's thread smile.gif
