No la, meaning peer pressure to smoke, drink etc la. But 'vice' is up to your imagination.

I am using stock rom with custom kernel.
I kinda got tired of flashing after owning the sgs lol.

now i have the milestone to 'play' with. The sgs2 is my daily phone so best not to muck it up.

When the official ICS rom is released, this tread will move 50 pages an hour instead of the 1 page/hour now.

The SGS II has a large memory. It is more than good enough to allow the phone android system to manage it. However there are still many users probably so used to windows think the os works like windows. No matter how google themselves say taskkiller is unnecessary users still cannot accept. No harm continue use task killers at expense of battery usage

True, but, the back button is just a minor adjustment.
After a while it becomes natural to just press back instead of home.

Not always required to calibrate the gyro.
You can download sensor list to test that the gyro is working.
It has 3 axis that you can use to gauge that the sensor is working right.

I can test for you, on stock rom with speedmod kernel.

The ball obviously isn't supposed to move. You're supposed to leave it on a flat surface.

On a side note, I never knew got gyro sensor calibration there, I saw the horizontal calibration and thought that was the last on the list.

Do you know what's a gyro sensor for?
If it maintains in the center, it means its calibrated correctly.

If it moves, it means the gyro isn't correct.

The gyro should maintain position at center no matter where the phone is tilted. That's the function of a gyro.

If it moves, and if you want it to move, you should be looking at an accelerometer, gravity sensor or tilt sensor. Not a gyro.

K3G gyro sensor has 3 axis.
It's a calibration tool, not a testing tool.
It should maintain central position no matter where you turn and tilt the device.

Obviously if the device is KO, then there is a possibility that the ball moves.

To test, go download sensor list.

It's for reference orientation, thats why calibrate on flat surface.
Whether its horizontal or tilted i don't think it matters.

What matters is that the surface is flat so the phone doens't wobble when its calibrating.

Anyway, it's an orientation tool. If you're concerned with the sensor working or not, a calibration tool isn't a testing tool.

Added on February 3, 2012, 10:24 amNo, the thing is a 3axis gyro, it won't move if its working properly.

Btw, for all phones with 3axis gyro sensors, the ball won't move if its working properly.

If it moves, 1 or more of the axis is not detecting properly to allow it to maintain 0 position.

Yes that is right.

Because it being 3 axis.

Imagine the axis as follows

From top to bottom of phone => 1
Left side to right side => 2
Screen to battery cover => 3

The 3 axis must maintain "always up" on the gyro for the ball to remain at 0 position.

If one of the axis not working, the ball will move off center.
Hope you understand, and don't worry so much la.

lol, no la, its not supposed to move.

Added on February 3, 2012, 10:45 amThe gyro is not used to control the landscape/portrait I think.
There are other sensors used for that, like the rotation vector sensor and the gravity sensor. Not the gyro.

Anyone with G version can do a quick test for me and post the list:
download sensor list from market.

Then post a screenshot here.

Or android system info app -> system -> sensors and take screen shot.

Positron doesn't know what he/she is talking about.
Screen rotation is controlled by orientation sensor, just did a double check on the sensor list on my s2.
