1 question here la smile.gif  if i buy those stuff like volt gun, bb gun, katana at online market la will i get any problem in custam
*
Yup..since they are categorized as weapons..

They might even ask for undertable money if you really want it.

Or maybe you're really lucky that the customs officers didn't open up the parcel..

Hmm... is SAL method of shipping really that unreliable?
SAL is cheaper than EMS so I wanna know what is the delivery time to reach our shores?
Btw, I dont think that the item will be lost provided that the right address is printed on the parcel
*
Well..the meaning of lost here is maybe the postman or custom officers misplaced the parcel since it is not trackable.
Since its not trackable..the post office will not be able to locate your parcel if its missing..

Its better to use EMS if your stuff worth alot!

QUOTE(chriswoo @ Apr 1 2008, 04:29 PM)
so far SAL for me is quite ok since out of 12 shipping and 12 shipping arrived on time + no tax even i over rm 500
*
Hmm..just curious..how long does it take for the item to reach you via SAL? I heard that its usually a month..is it?

And you're really lucky not to kena tax lolz!

nope it always on time around 14 to 20 days some but moslty i get within 12 days
*
Wow..that's really fast!!

According to HLJ
SAL: 7-45 days (varies greatly by country -- Brazil, Belgium and Italy are especially slow)

Some ppl here said that they sometimes receive their stuff via SAL after around a month.

Not local shop ler. Hong kong site. I think you better do some research first.

Added on April 4, 2008, 10:40 pm
Are you sure? I ve compare few site. HK site is the cheapest. I brought most of the item from HK site. Example, just received a Tamiya spray booth from HK site two days ago.
HK site + shipment cost = rm513
HLJ + shipment cost = rm643
Rainbouten(japan) + shipment cost = rm600
*
Sorry I must have miscalculated ><. Yeah..Japan shipping is more expensive than HK's.

Thanks for the advice. notworthy.gif

Buy in Penang(PG) very expensive. If I use EMS also cheaper then buying here. Get from KL need to paid the postage KL - PG, same case. Unless I drive down to KL go BTS, go Endah Parade but the petrol + toll, same case.  doh.gif
*
Since KL got..why not buy from there?
If the item is normal size (like normal PVC figure), usually shipping is RM10 only..

Besides, your items might get damaged during shipment..so since you can get it locally its better. If anything is broken, you can always send back to KL.

EMS not only trouble free but also fast and trackable! ^^

very scare... if kena then I need to go penang airport to pay the tax and collect my item?? can argue with them since my item still below RM500?? haha
*
Yes of course you can argue coz they are the one who made the rule that EMS parcels worth less than RM500 are tax exempted!

Btw..if your EMS parcel got stuck..you should go to Butterworth Customs..not airport lolz

It's really easy if you don't want to pay taxes. I always buy Warhammer 40k miniatures from maelstromgames.co.uk. What they do is on the packaging, they're supposed to write what is inside, what it is for, and how much it is worth. Well, the peeps from maelstrom just wrote that it's a GIFT, there are toys inside, and it's only worth £5. So, very little or most of the time zero tax and look for sites that offers free shipment. You just have to tell the person who's packing your stuff to do this.
*
Lolz..sorry to say but customs do not believe in those GIFT stuffs..

Many parcels labeled as GIFTS are also detained by customs..and I've experienced it before.
An eBay seller labelled by parcel as a gift and yet the customs requested for an invoice..lolz!

you still can ask them to do a dummy invoice what... doh.gif
Talking about non-logical price... it's not custom who decide lar.. it's seller who decide how much to sell what.. whistling.gif
So be smart and use ur brain before importing.
*
Wow..use my brain?

Please use your brain first before asking me to do so!

Did I mentioned that I did not ask for a dummy invoice?? Please remind me if I did.

All I'm saying is customs do not care whether parcels are labelled GIFTS or not and therefore, an invoice is required..either a real invoice or dummy invoice!

I've been importing stuff for years since I was Form 4 and I've been asking sellers to provide me dummy invoices. So bear in mind that you're not the only one importing stuff sweat.gif

QUOTE(chriswoo @ Apr 24 2008, 07:08 PM)
so far i always import using SAL and nvr kena once also detaind by kasam duno why but most of my item is around rm400 to rm 500 in medium box but depends on luck lor
*
Whoa!!

Maybe I can use your luck next time hehe ^^.

Last time my small parcel from PA also kena detained..and they are just music CDs ><

doh.gif Since when i ask "You" to use your brain lar.. I mean "You" here is Everyone who want to import something in the future lar.. doh.gif Suddenly makan my non-flame message for what ler... sweat.gif

Form 4, I've been doing this since Standard 4, or maybe earlier.. and that time was when my uncle helping me... importing those electronice stuff for school somemore whistling.gif

I mean, use dummy invoice, stated lower than RM400, lable them as Gift, and all are set...
If custom question that this is non-logical price, they have no power lar to re-adjust the invoice value...

The thing here is that I had faced several cases during I import some watches, etc where there is actually tax on it.
And u know what? I ask the seller to create a invoice and stated the watches value RM1.
Guess what? The custom argue that it's impossible... And I ask the custom to call the seller lar to clarify lar.

This is all what we called use brain when importing stuff from other place...

(P/S: Not FLAME gao u lar.. u scold me for what lar doh.gif)
*
Then next time say lor that "you" means is everyone who wanna import something..

You quoted my message and said "you" of course the "you" is referring to me la..its so obvious no? lolz!

Watch worth RM1 people hard to believe la..I always ask sellers to put around RM180 - RM100..

And yes sorry for scolding you notworthy.gif

deejay, u r from penang right?

if kena tahan then the parcel will go to prai custom or butterworth custom?? i stay at pg island.

prai custom is the 1 near with sony?
*
Its located at Butterworth..same building with PosLaju Butterworth.

Btw..it actually depends on which courier service company you use..

If you use DHL, FedEx, UPS or any other courier service, you'll have to go to Penang Airport Custom.
If you use EMS a.k.a SpeedPost a.k.a PosLaju, you'll have to go to Butterworth Custom.

If you need PosLaju Butterworth's contact number, feel free to PM me.

Any suggestions for other online stores besides HLJ?
The customer account page on HLJ is almost frequently unavailable as they keep on performing some sort of maintenance on it. That is the only drawback I found with HLJ, other than that their pricing and shipping costs are quite reasonable?

Anyone here bought stuff from HobbySearch before? They have this points system when you buy things from them but their shipping is quite costly as they only ship through EMS.

Play-Asia seems to have free shipping for certain things but I find that their figures always seem to be out of stock.

Added on April 26, 2008, 11:32 amForgot to mention that Hobby Search does not accept PayPal.

I have never bought anything off Hobby Search and Play Asia before so I dont know whether their service is good.
*
Play-Asia = packaging sucks! 50% chance your item will get damaged! Sometimes they will just put your item in the box just like that..without styrofoams and bubblewraps! I only order CD's from them (they kinda suck at packing figures, my figure boxes also kena damaged eventhough I used FedEx -.-)

HobbySearch = Damn good packaging! I received my figures in a goof condition hard box and there are papers insides to protect the figures!

If you want to order from Play-Asia, always message them with your order number and REQUEST FOR BETTER PACKAGING! Ask them to pack your items in a bigger box or ask them to add more styrofoams or bubblewraps!

I think most people like to buy from them because of their affiliation program and fast packaging. I agree that they prepare your items really fast! If you order anything before 5pm, your order will be shipped on that same day eventhough you make your order at 4.30pm lolz!

Besides..HS also has ther sales price..so its cheaper than HLJ and of course if you want your figures to be in perfect condition..choose EMS ^^

Does Hobby Search confirm the shipping costs with you after placing a order or do they straight away charge you for the total cost? Cuz if you provide them with your credit card info, they can charge you anytime unlike PayPal...
*
As far as I remember..they do not confirm the shipping costs..

The thing is.... they do not provide the weight of the product or at least an estimate on the product page >.<

Some stuff might be heavier even though they may look small..
*
You can try checking the weight at HLJ. HLJ will put up the weight of everything they have, and also the dimensions ^^

Hi everyone. I would like to bid something from ebay Hong Kong and the seller said he/she will post using registered mail. May I know if registered mail consider SAL or EMS? And whether the "less than RM 500 no tax" rule apply to registered mail? BTW that item is a transformer toy. Thanks in advance.
*
Registered mail means SAL with tracking number. Try to double check with him..whether is he using REGISTERED MAIL or SPEEDPOST.

The "less than RM 500 no tax" rule applies only for EMS.
