QUOTE(deejay220989 @ Jun 21 2011, 07:50 PM) If that's the case, he can educate the customs. Argue with the customs that if anyone uses EMS and the CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) is less than RM500, tax should be exempted.
There was a link stating this at the custom's website..somewhere in this thread. Last time, I would print that out to prepare myself in case some customs officers do not know about this.
There are cases where the officers really do not know, and when they consult other officers then they knew, and release the item without tax.. Actually any air-courier.... including ordinary air parcel, not specifically EMS..... it's shipping by sea that they can tax you. Added on June 23, 2011, 7:52 pmQUOTE(deejay220989 @ Jun 20 2011, 09:18 AM) If normal parcel/airmail, customs have their right to tax your friend. below RM500 applies too.... tax free.... as stated above ^ This post has been edited by BeastX: Jun 23 2011, 07:52 PM

^Unfortunately CIF value... where the F means freight=air mail/courier/shipping cost is taken in to account... Tax is on CIF. Not just Cost of goods.
However there are certain parcels where the shipping cost is not stated, that's where you may escape the freight charges.
Dealing with custom department for 5 years.

They follow a weekly rate as published on the kastam site... renew on every Monday, I believe

QUOTE(Jehuty @ Aug 10 2011, 05:32 PM) well put things easier the value was written on it is 8000hkd. So i assume i'll be taxed for about rm300+ if it's on 10% right?
how much will i get taxed in ALL? 8000 hkd... (RM 3080 + shipping RM150?) = RM3230 ... tax= RM 323.00 (10%) This post has been edited by BeastX: Aug 11 2011, 05:15 PM

QUOTE(thenoname @ Nov 2 2011, 02:36 PM) Just wondering, for HLJ how many has use FedEx? How fast will the item arrive? And how about EMS? How long for EMS take to reach Malaysia? Only worth it when they had 50% off FedEx charges... cheaper than EMS (even with 20% off)

QUOTE(Senjou @ May 10 2012, 04:46 AM) Lol I just got my dolfie from Obitsu. Untaxed. The actual figure was 27,000yen at first....but that amount was cut through to 15,000yen. And I didn't even ask them to false underdeclare for me. Not sure if lucky or just plain mistake. I 'd say Lucky... 15k yen exceeds RM500 too

QUOTE(YAK @ Jul 2 2012, 01:35 PM) Hi guys, want some advise from you. I recently purchase a comander bacara figure from sideshow total cost including freight was USD 153 delivered by Fedex. I was ask to pay rm 82 for tax as kastam somehow mark up my freight as RM433!!! When instead is was only about RM90 charge by sideshow which was in the invoice attach. My question is can they do this and is there a way I can claim this back.
My previous figure purchases was tax as well. FedEx "masuk poket tax"... Anything below RM500 (CIF) should not be taxed.

QUOTE(joshandsomestuff @ Oct 2 2012, 05:35 PM) Mine's less than RM400, and it's stuck at PPL Butterworth. Consignment held by custom for inspection. High - value goods. Tsk. Dumbass customs. Is there a number I can call? Seems a bit retarded to pay for their mistakes, eh? Note: It's CIF below RM500... including shipping not just the goods.... The should be Custom office at PosOffice Besar.

QUOTE(xpittcha @ May 18 2013, 01:59 PM) Hi, i got a question about EMS/SAL postage. Do they (Poslaju etc. when it arrive in Malaysia) charge extra to send the package to Sarawak? Or i just only need to pay the shipping fee stated in the HLJ/Hobby Search etc? No additional cost... unless the CIF exceeds RM500...which is tax not shipping fees (and applies not matter where you are)

QUOTE(ahgan91 @ May 27 2013, 04:37 PM) Thanks for your advise. Can I combine 2 toys together send in 1 shipments ? Sorry for my noob inquries... Sure... with Amiami you can combine with previously bought item(s) ... there's a "drop down menu" way for you to combine. Note: Combining shipping you'll run the risk of exceeding RM500 (CIF) and therefore incurring the 10% tax cost. This post has been edited by BeastX: May 27 2013, 05:23 PM

QUOTE(kevinlowl @ Sep 8 2013, 03:19 AM) ^Hobby Search is legit. As far as I know, only if your stuff exceeds RM500. To be accurate it's the cost of your Stuff + shipping
