QUOTE(nlik @ Feb 9 2012, 09:38 AM) Dude, not sure if that is a sensitive picture or not, and whether advisable to be posted here like this. A little more discretion and sensitivity would be welcome. There are pictures of mosques and weddings of all cultures and religions - so really, I don't see what is so sensitive about the picture.Bear in mind there are many other persons with different beliefs that share this thread. |

chuchow: That is the HVL-F20AM, the Sony Alpha iISO hotshoe (forgot their own name for the accessory shoe.)
The HVL-F20S is for the NEX-3/C3/5/5N on the Smart Accessory Terminal, I think. |

hisel:
All the Sony Alpha flashes that can mount on a regular Sony Alpha-mount dSLR/SLT can also mount on the NEX-7. The F43/F58/F20 can also be used as a Sony Alpha-protocol wireless trigger. |

5 sides = pentagon
6 sides = hexagon 7 sides = heptagon/septagon 8 sides = octagon 9 sides = nonagon To have circular bokeh, just use the lens wide open. A lens is considered "circular aperture" by Minolta's standards, if the bokeh remains circular when set to 2 stops below its brightest aperture - meaning a F1.7 lens with "circular aperture" will still show a circular aperture at F3.5. However at F4.0 onwards it may start to show a polygonal shape instead. |

Ah hao: Yes for a F4.5 lens with circular aperture, the heptagons come out after F9.0. At F9.0 it is still supposed to be circular.

Ah hao: Nope if you read the DPReview forum link you'd know that the LA-EA2 is fast. I too will say the LA-EA2 is fast, just as fast as the A65, which has the same AF unit. Of course the LA-EA2 is not as fast as the A77 which has an improved AF unit.
whateva2k: The 35mm F1.8 is a very flexible focal length - if you've tried it, you'd realize it works well as it's right in the middle. Same goes for the Zeiss 24mm F1.8 E-mount - it gives 36mm on APS-C, which is the same as your camera phone's angle of view. |

QUOTE(steve88 @ Mar 15 2012, 02:51 PM) The LA-EA1 will have AF with SAM/SSM lenses. The LA-EA2 will have AF with SAM/SSM and screw-drive lenses. Both allow you to set the aperture from the camera body. Both allow you to frame the subject with the lens wide open although you may have set the aperture to F11. It will only stop down when you take the picture. (This is different from a third-party lens, where you have to manually turn the aperture ring before you take the picture.) If it doesn't say SAM, SSM, USD, PZD or HSM anywhere on the lens, it is screw-drive. Picture quality is the same, and it can focus to infinity. The LA-EA2 has a translucent mirror so you lose about 1/3rd of a stop of light - going from say 1/60s to 1/50s, or 1/10s to 1/8s. Unless the lens is a Sony E-mount with Optical SteadyShot, Tamron VC or Sigma OS, it will not be stabilized! |

QUOTE(chekwui @ Mar 20 2012, 01:30 PM) Just bought from Harvey Norman Mid Valley, RM2199, no extra charges on credit card, got easy installment somemore. Cheapest I can find so far. The person said this is the weekend price, so better buy during weekend if want this price. I have the NEX-5 and it works with a regular Mini HDMI Type C to HDMI Type A (on HDTV). All Sony Alphas use the Mini HDMI Type C.Added on March 20, 2012, 1:33 pm Ya, I also want to know what type of HDMI cable can be used with NEX-5N, is the normal mini HDMI compatible? or need to buy the special HDMI cable for NEX from Sony? Thanks. |

stimix: F1.4 can focus with the NEX-5N - don't rely on peaking alone. Use 7x magnification to double-check and after a while you'll get the hang of peaking. Shutter speed should be fast enough at F1.4 ISO200 giving you 1/160s. (I went today and F4.5 ISO1600 resulted in 1/15s average shutter speed upstairs, and 1/30s downstairs.)

QUOTE(stimix @ Apr 18 2012, 02:55 PM) Other than what Lina said which I agreed 100%, what AF can't do is the retro feeling of turning/twisting the aperture ring or pulling the the zoom level for telephoto lens haha... Actually I have some A-mount lenses that are push-pull. |

QUOTE(toughnut @ May 18 2012, 05:18 PM) i only wish for a fairly SHARP and COMPACT 18mm lens (or any wide angle) and E-mount will be perfect (for me). There are 6 NEX cameras and 4 NEX camcorders.Sony, you produce more NEX camera than the lenses, for God sake..... There are 8 Sony E-mount lenses and 2 converters. The math could go either way. |

QUOTE(loon1983 @ May 29 2012, 02:05 PM) i thinking if NEX can replace my D700... The 16mm F2.8 pancake has 2 different accessories which clip onto the 16mm's bayonet mount on the front of the lens:only 16mm as 24mm? no wider lens for NEX? i used to 16mm in FF... VCL-ECF1 fisheye adapter - converts the 16mm to a diagonal fisheye, similiar to the Nikkor 16mm F2.8 AF-D VCL-ECU1 ultrawide adapter - converts the 16mm to a 18mm on full-frame Both of these are much smaller than an actual 16-35mm. You can also use Sweep Panorama in case you forget to bring the VCL-ECU1. Another alternative is to get a Samyang 8mm F3.5 diagonal fisheye, and put it on a NEX-7, and de-fish the picture to get a rectilinear shot. However you lose resolution when de-fishing. |

QUOTE(mavericksam @ May 29 2012, 11:55 PM) Is this the czj lens? Anyway personally i would go for sel lens then czj. For me, what cz is best at is their t* coatings. Yes optically czj might be really good but the cz colors just isnt there (no multicoat i think). Couple with the fact that you lose af and needed to get a good adapter, i dont think any upside in optical quality (not the the sel lens is a slouch either) is worth more than the diff in price and af loss. I had a Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon DDR 35mm F2.4 MC in M42 mount and while it didn't have the T* coating, I have no complaints about its color, sharpness and contrast wide open. The color is definitely there, though I would not put color as one of the Zeiss prides - it just does its job by retaining vibrance and not having any color casts or muddiness.Besides, if the sel lens is slow, switch it over to mf and you can stilll use peaking. 2 cents. It's all there even when wide open, just like my Sony Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 24mm F2.0 ZA SSM and Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 135mm F1.8 ZA. |

QUOTE(hianz86 @ Jun 1 2012, 12:49 PM) Do u guys notice that NEX-5N have this issue? After f8 and above. There will be visible black dot on the screen. That is dust on your sensor. Enable cleaning mode in your camera, then use an air blower (NOT your mouth) and blow off the dust on the sensor. This is f22 ![]() This is f8 ![]() Do u guys notice that the upper left have the grey/black dot? any guys suffer the same thing? |
