Not sure if this is the right place to ask. When we went to the Honda dealer's place today with the intention to look at the Insight 2012 and the Jazz hybrid, we saw a used Insight bought 3 months ago with a mileage of 1500km. The owner apparently has upgraded to the 2012 Insight and have asked the dealer to sell for him.

I never had a Honda car before and was interested in their hybrid cars.

The dealer asked me to look at the used car and it looks new. Never had an accident before.

The asking price is RM 86k.

What do you guys think? Is it worth it with such low mileage?

Would any of you hesitate to get the used Insight with a potential savings of about RM10k?

What is the interest rate for that car?
*
Interest rate is definitely higher for 2nd hand car. Have not asked around for the rate. I was just wondering about the resell value for an Insight car. This car looks very well kept. Almost as new. Can see the owner took good care of it.

The owner must be a real Insight fan, just upgrading his 3 months old car to the new face lifted Insight tongue.gif biggrin.gif

its a bargain but i would still for the new FL version..

What would your reasons be? I am quite torn as well as I reckon this is a good bargain.

Kept asking myself what I could gain with the new face lifted version as well. Of course, it looks much much nicer but on the other hand a saving of around 10 k for a good bargain is hard to let it pass by.

Its a good bargain if buy cash  tongue.gif  .. but if u took loan for 2nd car, i think rate is much higher. do ur won calculation. if the price + interest still lower than buying the new one+interest; that it is a good bargain.

If I buy, i can adjust under my house loan. Spoke to the bank already. Can take on additional bank loan but use it to pay the owner. So the rate is like housing loan....

Just a little update.
I decided to go ahead with this purchase. Managed to get 84k. Mileage is less than 1500km. Came with complete Modulo body kit, claimed to be original and also tinted windows. However, JPJ removed the front tint during inspection. I then installed the V-kool Elite over the front screen. The car is beautiful.

However, I noticed the air cond is not that cool when compared to my Innova. I also have a Innova that is about 6 years old and the air cond is good. Is Honda air cond like that? Takes a bit of time to get the car cool down especially when I was waiting for my kids in school. WHen I stop during such weather, ECON mode is off.

Any other similar experiences from others?

+1 for this

i believe the air con is somehow quite "intelligent". what i observe is, if the tempeture outside the car is same or lower than the tempeture u set. then u will get not so cold air.
*
I usually set around 21 C. Takes quite a bit of time to get the air to cold down. And usually it's set to almost maximum air blown.

A double check; if I want the air cond to work when I am at traffic light, do I switch ECON off? Or do I set the gear to S and press the brake?

anyone noticing plenty of insight on the road nowadays?
At any one time, on the road, easy to see 5 more around me in ipoh.

Last time used to see 1 or 2.... feels like insight owners jumped at least 4x lately.
*
Totally agree. But I am just a new Insight owner. Never realized before buying, there were so many around here in Ipoh. Today I saw 3 already.

You may be one of them nod.gif nod.gif rclxms.gif

Took a test drive of the Honda Insight today. The car drives well and looks good. Wanted to ask though... from the forum, looks like this car does have some quality issues? Leaking etc? Anyone can comment? Deciding on this vs Prius C... Thanks in advance!
*
I was in your shoes last month or so.

Test drove both the cars. It was between the Insight or the Prius C. Read the reviews and the pros and cons of both engines. Somehow, the C didn't quite capture the heart although the HSD engine seems to have a better review online.

The Insight somehow, caught my wife and the kids' hearts and minds. So it was a pretty easy decision from that point. Insight handling is nice and smooth.

Bought the Insight and no regrets till now.

Bottom line, I think quality is not an issue. It is a matter of heart and mind when decisions like these have to be made between 2 excellent cars.

Looking at the Prius c owner commented on their ride. Full tank can got 700 to 1000km. I envy them. If talking about fuel saving. Prius c win big time.
*
If just looking at FC alone, Prius may be much better. However I love driving the Insight. There's just a nice feeling driving it, and just enjoying the car. That feeling was just not there when I test drove the C.

yeah. but end of the day, is the fuel saving that counts

Insight also quite good lah. Nothing really to complain about. Previously with my old Wira 1.5, each full tank is about 260-300km. Now easily can touch 500-550 km. And this is city driving almost exclusively.
