QUOTE(joshuachew @ Apr 1 2014, 11:53 PM) Some people don't think so. http://www.head-fi.org/t/680853/sony-nwz-z...sary-model/1545 QUOTE I've put my ZX1 through probably close to 20 hrs burn in and I think I'm ready to sell my AK120. The ZX1 seemed to have opened up in the the mids and highs more. It's not as warm as when I first had it. Listening to the Tumbao De Tamorito track from Open Your Ears album the space just opens up more & gives a more front row presentation whilst the AK120 is probably just a few rows behind. With my MH335DW the bass seems a little more comparable between the two though which was different from my earlier findings (at least with the Open Your Ears album). I may try different tracks . So anyone up for an AK120, ping me Some say difference is very minimal... QUOTE One thing to note though (now that it's opened up somewhat and who knows what a longer burn in will or will not do), but I'm having this gut feeling that bright cans may not necessarily benefit from it. e.g. if I use my Ocharaku Kaedes, I think I enjoy it less with the ZX1 as with HM-901. However something like the MH335DW it seems to suit the ZX1 at the moment. No idea how the MH335DW will sound with the ZX1 after the Studio Reference mod. Edit: About the ZX1 vs AK120 I'm sure when some of you start receiving the ZX1 would be saying "what is AnakChan talking about!?" so bear in mind some may still prefer the AK120 to the ZX1. For me, the two are just too close to justify owning one that's $450-$500 more expensive. |

Hi all,
Need some advice on getting a player. Price: RM700-1k Usage: Music during working trips, cars, flight etc Headphone: FAD Heaven II Model that I've been checking out: Hidizs AP100 (from jaben site) (seem like a good deal), Fiio x3, x5, Ipod+Rockbox? I'm quite new to these. I have only use normal smartphone with stock iem. Got the FAD recently and like it very much. And think it's wise to get a standalone player. Thanks in advance. |

QUOTE(d3play @ Apr 4 2014, 12:03 AM) Hi all, If you're willing to spend that much on a music player, I'd recommend you to upgrade your IEM with all that cash first instead Need some advice on getting a player. Price: RM700-1k Usage: Music during working trips, cars, flight etc Headphone: FAD Heaven II Model that I've been checking out: Hidizs AP100 (from jaben site) (seem like a good deal), Fiio x3, x5, Ipod+Rockbox? You'd hear a bigger difference in sound by changing your IEM than a music player with that budget. |

QUOTE(RowanPaladin @ Apr 5 2014, 05:06 PM) I'd say the X3 but as Lego said, better to upgrade your current IEMs. I suggest the FAD Heaven V, then maybe consider a new DAP. Hey man any recommendation for a good IEM to pair with x3, i just got a brainwavs B2 , but i find the higher end frequency is too harsh when paired up, the drums snares and crash is so loud during a rapid runs on songs. |
