Need help to choose: Sony NW-A36 VS NW-A45
Promo for NW-A36, 32gb, Headphone, rm699
A45 retail rm899, 16gb, no headphones.

A45 advantage:
Can use as usb dac.
Better bluetooth support, aptx (HD with firmware update)
Not sure about SQ, i tested at shop it does sound better to me vs A36, not very big difference though.
MQA support.

A36 advantage:
Price.. 200 cheaper get 32gb+Headphone set, better value.

A36 disadvantage:
Supposedly slower interface/boot. (Latest firmware 1.20 said to improve this, but i cant find reviews)

A45 disadvantage:
No reviews.

Which should i go for ?

hi, just go for NW-A45. Foto Shangri-La has now offering NW-A45 for RM799 in 11street only. Get it now before the offer end.
http://www.11street.my/productdetail/sony-...r-sony-53315964

I'm personally not recommend to get the older generation NW-A36. Actually NW-A36 is same with NW-A35. It's just about NW-35 without earphones and NW-A36 with earphones.
NW-A45 only has 16GB but you can further add up a microSD card to extend your player storage. NW-A45 has slightly better in sound quality, you can always refers to Sony Official Website.

NW-A45 is replaced to a lead-free solder to maximize it's clarity. New circuit board has improved in clearer sound and pure, solid bass. This was mentioned in Sony official website.

Just go get a better earphones/headphones.

Thanks for the reply! I have already gotten my A45 after consideration. More new tech..amd usable as dac.esp the bluetooth aptx HD if i dont want sony bluetooth phones.

I did listen and compare both.. and there is a difference in sound quality esp in clarity. Didnt think that solder would matter... but the difference is there.. haha!

Does anyone did burn-in their portable player before? Let's say you have an old portable player which has bought at 1 year ago with more than 3000 hours usage (including burn-in). Then compare yours to a new same model portable player again, does anyone here did that before? Is there any different in sound quality improvement?

Hi,

Can any sifus here suggest me a portable player that have the following features?

- Running Android OS, coz mainly will use Spotify and also personal collection which I'll sync using cloud services.
- Build in DAC and amplifier (Of course!)
- Support external Micro SD card(s).
- Line in so I can use it as DAC/Amplifer for my system too.
- Best if it can serve as Bluetooth receiver as well, so I can receive calls from my phone (Not sure if such feature exist tongue.gif).

Thanks in advance smile.gif

No specific budget as I'm not sure the price range, however will consider around RM 1000, but do recommend me higher or lower than that.

Thanks in advance !

Hi,

Thanks for your recommendation , I really appreciate as my self also did some research n is aware that anything run android is more than 1k.

I'm wondering, is it a good choice if I just get iPod touch instead? If Spotify is my main source of music?

Thanks in advance!

Hello sifus,

Looking for a new DAP to replace my good old Hisoundaudio Rocoo P. I love it's sound signature; very clear, airy and has big soundstage.
Is there any player that has a similar sound signature or even better?

There's so many different brands out on the market i'm really confused confused.gif

Looking at the price range under RM1k but willing to go up to RM2k if it's worth it. Also, is there any good stores I can test out?

any help is much appreciated notworthy.gif
cheers

You could try Stars Picker. They should have samples that you could try out.

i am eyeing on Fiio X5, but before that, i have googled about DAPs vs phone, seems like yes, DAP does give better soundstage especially if you playing FLAC music files from LP etc ...

just want to understand more technical depth whats the difference between phone and DAP which makes DAP stands out in terms of sound ... and to all DAP users here, is it really a huge difference to pay thousands more ...

by the way i am using s9+, and the sound from this phone is actually quite ok. any comparison done with this phone before?

No doubt DAPs will sound better than a phone, but by how much depends on the models. You'll need to test them out personally. What earphones or headphones are you using? Often times upgrading that will yield better improvement compared to changing DAPs.

What IEM/headphone you are planning to use? If no budget, I will straight recommend A&K SE100 or Sony NW-WM1Z. It was good pairing with Sony MDR-1AM2.
For that budget, I will go for Fiio Q5 as similar sound to Fiio X7ii, despite being an amp/dac.
