Hi All, I am a new user of P7500. Thinking of rooting it straight away + custom recovery + custom rom. Any nice custom rom that anyone can recommend?

Guys..I am having trouble flashing CM9 Kang ROM into my Tab via CWM. Downloaded the ROM from XDA, not sure what is the problem. Is there a way to check if the ROM pack got problem?

Btw, I have no problem flashing AOKP and Overcome ROM...Testing AOKP for the time being...seems stable...and the taste of vanilla ICS have never been better.

Can visit XDA for more info...Btw, it depends on whether you like the taste of HC or ICS.

I am currently on ROOTED STOCK HC (Touchwiz), with pershoot kernel that can overclock to 1.4GHz. Quite stable with noticeable speed on UI and Apps.

Hmmm...Samsung Touchwiz is the original state when you buy your Tab 10.1. You don't need to download anything if you didn't not flash any custom ROMs prior to this.

Flashing CWM (ClockworkMod) Recovery is basically replacing the stock recovery image with a custom recovery. While rooting gives your superuser status, which means access to the root / system files of your Tab.

So it depends on what do you want to do with your Tab.

Hehe..I suggest if you feels that your tab is laggy...it's time to bring it to another level....
Since you have rooted your tab. Just flash a kernel and OC this baby...You'll have 2 cores running at 1.4GHz on your demand!

my guess is that it would not come till Tab 2 10.1 is out...but Tab 2 10.1 have been delayed...so really no idea now.

Initially they announced Tab 2 10.1 with 1.0GHz Dual Core Ti OMAP with PowerVR SGX540 GPU. But now I think it's going to be Exynos Quad Core..GPU no idea?? Mali 400 perhaps?

Btw, I am more keen on having a Tegra 3 device after this but it seems that Samsung is moving away from NVidia.

Does anyone here tried Tab 7.7 (Dual Core Exynos with Mali400) gaming before? is it better than Tegra? I like to game with my tablet so I am more keen of having a better application supported GPU.

(OFF TOPIC ) Hope that any bros here can share some experience on other tablets with other CPU and GPU combination. Thank in advance.

Added on April 23, 2012, 11:26 amAre you using the Original Charger that comes with your tab? I can't charge with any other adaptor besides the original one that comes inside the box. I tried my YooBao batt pack. It shows the red X as well. I think it's either the ROM or Kernel that prevents USB charging.

For me, the only solution currently is to charge with the original charger.

why must challenge Ipad? hehe..just curious.. i guess samsung is challenging themselves..the earlier announces Tab 2 10.1 doesn't have much differences from the current Tab 10.1...So i think it's more to improving their own product line up??

I pray this huge upgrade is going to be Exynos 5, (Cortex A15, no more A9), 2.0GHz Dual Core with Mali604 GPU..haha...then this Tab 2 can fight what ever pad!

Hmmm...Really into tablet? I am just curious. How does our Tab 10.1 matches against Tab 7.7. Display Tab 7.7 is much better..but how about gaming capability?

Download Kernel files (usual flashable zip) save it into your tab, Then do a Nandroid backup of your current ROM via CWM. Incase something wrong happen after you flash the zip you can always restore your previous ROM. While in CWM just flash the file using update from SD function. You can google for instruction.

Kernel = is what the phone/tablet manages its power from. it controls the power and battery on your phone.
OC = Overclock, some ROMs with custom kernel allow OC in this case from the original 1.0GHz to 1.4GHz. If you are not using a custom ROM, you might need the help of an application called SetCPU that would need root access to OC your tablet.

Nandroid backup is being done from the CWM recovery menu, Nandroid backups a whole image of your current ROM including system files and all your data....its different from Titanium Backup.


I agree on this...Overcome ROM gives the feeling of stock HC...and best part is can combine Pershoot kernel with Overcome ROM to further enhance our tab's capability..

Try pershoot kernel. Quite stable..I am on it now.

Dont be happy even if they release Touchwiz on top of ICS for Tab 10.1. Its a not as fluid than you think. I've played with the Tab 2 10.1 prototype and what I can say is... It doesnt impress me at all. The stock ICS feel is still the best.

haha..different for me...it's when you got warranty, you root and custom..if got anything just send it back to samsung...

P/S: rooting and flashing is not as dangerous as you think..as long as you read up and make sure you know what you are doing..that would be fine enough...

1) The current tab 10.1 in the market is the first version...not Tab 2 10.1
2) Samsung did not discontinued the 32GB version..just that they didn't offer 32GB original set...what you get in the market is AP set.
3) I only know that the current RRP for 3G+wifi (P7500) is RM1599. Not sure about the wifi version.

And some bros are correct Tab 2 (either 7.0 or 10.1) have not been release in Malaysia market yet.

Totally agree...SME could not be bothered...As long as your device is still under warranty..they will fix it for you.

Can try the followings:-
Remove your SIM Card,
Shutdown your Tablet,
Insert your SIM Card,
Once Found Network, Add a new APN (3gdgnet).. on your networks option
and Restart your tablet.
