Hi All, I am a new user of P7500. Thinking of rooting it straight away + custom recovery + custom rom. Any nice custom rom that anyone can recommend?

Guys..I am having trouble flashing CM9 Kang ROM into my Tab via CWM. Downloaded the ROM from XDA, not sure what is the problem. Is there a way to check if the ROM pack got problem?
Btw, I have no problem flashing AOKP and Overcome ROM...Testing AOKP for the time being...seems stable...and the taste of vanilla ICS have never been better. Added on April 4, 2012, 5:32 pm QUOTE(syahmie_dbf1430 @ Apr 4 2012, 05:29 PM) hye all... its about the touchwiz ui...you can always use custom rom to improve the situation.. should i buy this tablet or wait for galaxy tab 2 series 10.1?? that day i went to smartphone fair at SACC mall... try this tablet but its kinda lagging.. is that true? QUOTE(takashiyert @ Apr 11 2012, 09:55 PM) Can visit XDA for more info...Btw, it depends on whether you like the taste of HC or ICS. I am currently on ROOTED STOCK HC (Touchwiz), with pershoot kernel that can overclock to 1.4GHz. Quite stable with noticeable speed on UI and Apps. |

QUOTE(daMieNyuZry @ Apr 17 2012, 01:28 PM) Where can I got that touchwiz? If I already rooted to clockwordmod(izzit spelling correct?), can I just rooted to another different thing? Hmmm...Samsung Touchwiz is the original state when you buy your Tab 10.1. You don't need to download anything if you didn't not flash any custom ROMs prior to this. Flashing CWM (ClockworkMod) Recovery is basically replacing the stock recovery image with a custom recovery. While rooting gives your superuser status, which means access to the root / system files of your Tab. So it depends on what do you want to do with your Tab. |

QUOTE(daMieNyuZry @ Apr 20 2012, 01:15 AM) Oh...I see...well, I also not sure want I to do with my tab...had rooted with that ClockworkMod and got that superuser....certain apps does require superuser....maybe if download apps that require rooted tab, sure has a lot of thing to do I guess.... Hehe..I suggest if you feels that your tab is laggy...it's time to bring it to another level....Since you have rooted your tab. Just flash a kernel and OC this baby...You'll have 2 cores running at 1.4GHz on your demand! Added on April 20, 2012, 2:46 pm QUOTE(otroman @ Apr 20 2012, 02:30 PM) Have any of u guys tried the go launcher hd? I installed it a few days ago n its really nice. Its quite similar to the ipad 3. With the drawers n stuff. I went n checked out the ipad3 at courts mammoth today n i dont feel so bad. I thought it was going to be like a huge difference between the 2 but not so bad i think. But then im new to all this. Especially if u have the go launcher. I think. ????...Hmmmm...I am not sure why...But I dont compare my Tab to a PAD...for me it's 2 different OS using different hardware...So I dont think you need to feel bad as it's a brilliant Androidic choice! QUOTE(otroman @ Apr 23 2012, 08:39 AM) Bros, Initially they announced Tab 2 10.1 with 1.0GHz Dual Core Ti OMAP with PowerVR SGX540 GPU. But now I think it's going to be Exynos Quad Core..GPU no idea?? Mali 400 perhaps? The tab 2 delayed bcoz they putting in new chip rite? Not nvidia. Its supposed to be better isit? Alot of people say on the internet nvidia not so good. I wonder abt the note 10.1. Same chasis as the tab 10.1 but better right? Especially for graphics. Btw, I am more keen on having a Tegra 3 device after this but it seems that Samsung is moving away from NVidia. Does anyone here tried Tab 7.7 (Dual Core Exynos with Mali400) gaming before? is it better than Tegra? I like to game with my tablet so I am more keen of having a better application supported GPU. (OFF TOPIC Added on April 23, 2012, 11:26 am QUOTE(leechers @ Apr 23 2012, 08:42 AM) Please help Are you using the Original Charger that comes with your tab? I can't charge with any other adaptor besides the original one that comes inside the box. I tried my YooBao batt pack. It shows the red X as well. I think it's either the ROM or Kernel that prevents USB charging. I CANT CHARGE MY TAB! when i connect it to charge. it simply refuse and the indicator shown as baterry with red 'x' on it. The only workaround that is working is to shut it down and charge. I rooted it but didn flash any custom rom. I am lazy to un root it and send for rma so is there any workaround on how to solve it? For me, the only solution currently is to charge with the original charger. This post has been edited by gwong: Apr 23 2012, 11:26 AM |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Apr 23 2012, 11:31 AM) Buy this : plug in the dock connector and plug in any USB generic micro USB cable - than you can charge your Tab with any of those external battery power back , such as Yoobao 4800 or 6600 or 11200 mAh. Or plug in the cable to any of those generic type USB port desktop charger Hmmm...Thanks for the recommendation..I can't see your link and so I googled for solution and haha..I found the solution HERE... I am actually on pershoot kernel and I am going to try in a while. This post has been edited by gwong: Apr 23 2012, 01:36 PM |

QUOTE(takashiyert @ Apr 23 2012, 10:34 PM) why must challenge Ipad? hehe..just curious.. i guess samsung is challenging themselves..the earlier announces Tab 2 10.1 doesn't have much differences from the current Tab 10.1...So i think it's more to improving their own product line up?? |

QUOTE(MrUbikeledek @ Apr 24 2012, 11:57 PM) 10.1 and transformer got many good review. iconia not so much. If you really into tablet, go for GT 7.7. Hmmm...Really into tablet? I am just curious. How does our Tab 10.1 matches against Tab 7.7. Display Tab 7.7 is much better..but how about gaming capability? |

QUOTE(daMieNyuZry @ Apr 25 2012, 01:03 PM) Download Kernel files (usual flashable zip) save it into your tab, Then do a Nandroid backup of your current ROM via CWM. Incase something wrong happen after you flash the zip you can always restore your previous ROM. While in CWM just flash the file using update from SD function. You can google for instruction.Kernel = is what the phone/tablet manages its power from. it controls the power and battery on your phone. OC = Overclock, some ROMs with custom kernel allow OC in this case from the original 1.0GHz to 1.4GHz. If you are not using a custom ROM, you might need the help of an application called SetCPU that would need root access to OC your tablet. Hope this helps |

QUOTE(daMieNyuZry @ Apr 25 2012, 05:40 PM) Yaaa..I guess need to google on how to do that and of course need to download thqt kernel files right? Nandroid backup is same like Titanium backup application? Waaaa, from 1.0GHz to 1.4GHz? I am on Pershoot Kernel. You can check out HERE for more information. Nandroid backup is being done from the CWM recovery menu, Nandroid backups a whole image of your current ROM including system files and all your data....its different from Titanium Backup. QUOTE(MEAKU15 @ Apr 26 2012, 12:57 AM) I agree on this...Overcome ROM gives the feeling of stock HC...and best part is can combine Pershoot kernel with Overcome ROM to further enhance our tab's capability..This post has been edited by gwong: Apr 26 2012, 09:59 AM |

QUOTE(xowangzi @ May 5 2012, 04:07 PM) Dont be happy even if they release Touchwiz on top of ICS for Tab 10.1. Its a not as fluid than you think. I've played with the Tab 2 10.1 prototype and what I can say is... It doesnt impress me at all. The stock ICS feel is still the best. |

QUOTE(BenSow @ May 7 2012, 08:54 PM) in other words recommended to void warranty? Only the warranty is keeping me from rooting, I veli scared something happen :/ haha..different for me...it's when you got warranty, you root and custom..if got anything just send it back to samsung... P/S: rooting and flashing is not as dangerous as you think..as long as you read up and make sure you know what you are doing..that would be fine enough... Added on May 7, 2012, 11:19 pm QUOTE(CyaNide27 @ May 7 2012, 08:21 PM) the information i'm getting online and from shop assistants are quite confusing.... may i know Hope that my explanation helps...1. now the current tab 10.1" in the market is it galaxy tab or galaxy tab 2? 2. has samsung discontinued the 32gb? coz i've only seen 16gb selling all over but no 32gb 3. what is the RRP for wifi only and also the 3g version respectively? some shop assistants claim that the current model in the market is tab 2, but they cant show me where is the SD card slot, and the OS is still Honeycomb instead of ICS.... so i'm rather confused now.... hope to get some clarifications here.... thx.... 1) The current tab 10.1 in the market is the first version...not Tab 2 10.1 2) Samsung did not discontinued the 32GB version..just that they didn't offer 32GB original set...what you get in the market is AP set. 3) I only know that the current RRP for 3G+wifi (P7500) is RM1599. Not sure about the wifi version. And some bros are correct Tab 2 (either 7.0 or 10.1) have not been release in Malaysia market yet. This post has been edited by gwong: May 7 2012, 11:20 PM |
