Today, LG Dream service came to check. They said gas was at 90 and too high. So they level it off to 70.
Then they took a pen and reset my remote control.  They said air conditioner is working well.  After finishing their work, I invited them to another room, similar size with same windows coverage but with more sunlight shining as it was morning.  They were surprised and one said they can immediately feel the difference when the door was opened for them to enter. It was a Toshiba Daisekai 1 hp running which never been serviced since new. The blower fan and filter gets cleaned by my father a few times a year and been re-gassed once since new which was more than a year ago.
So I asked them how come my Toshiba is able to make that room colder within half an hour whereas the 6 months old LG takes hours during the day to cool the room?  The man with all smiles said the Toshiba is more expensive so better quality so that's why!  Any truth in this?

Havey Norman only sells they dont service so they dont know la.

Yes, fan blower very noisy on my 2HP unit. But is good.

Same here....all my yorks quite noisy...a bit disappointed

I got a Toshiba 1hp never have problem since 199x, move from old house to apartment in 2000 and then to my present house in 2001 and now is still working. Never refill gas whatsoever. It is quiet except since this is a very old model it takes a bit longer time to start. I have a 2half hp from Panasonic it is good and cool since 2005 but the compressor is noisy since installation, service man is excellant when call to replace compressor but still no different and the Sanyo 2001 when it starts it give you a loud noisy everytime it on/off. Another Sharp is also ok silent since 2001. Of all these brands I would go for Toshiba and Sharp, you need no service man. Other brands not use before so cannot comment.

But when we look for aircond we also look for other features like if it filter air, ion, killing micor organism, etc.

I dont think LG can be that bad, i mean the aircond cooling capability, something else is wrong. Get them to show you similar model now running at other customer places or their office or get someone service man to look at it when you service other aircond. If it is true as said then there is every reason for them to replavce this unit then trying to rectify. You should write/email LG korea and request that they reply you if thier product is wayoff Toshiba. A big corp MMC will not allow their image to be tarnished and their engineer will be fired.

Toshiba airconds are freakin good. I have 3 Toshibas (2 are 14 years old, 1 is 9 years old) and switched on every night. Not a single problem to date and only serviced and refilled gas once. The rest of the time i just DIY cleaning the indoor cooling coil. Toshiba outdoor units are less noisy compared to other brands. Cant say the same for my Panasonic aircond which has spoilt 3 times within 8 years.

How ironic, among the Mitsubishi, Toshiba, York, Hitachi and Panasonic airconds that i have at my house and condo, the aircons that have spoilt are Panasonic and Hitachi!

I also have a Toshiba vaccum cleaner for more than 15 years. This thing just simply dont spoilt. Just that the tube have to replace due to wear and tear.
