Were you in the bar before you activate the mod??

yup, Bannered Mare in Whiterun, and im pretty sure im outside
could it be that my version is a bit outdated?

btw this might sound stupid, but is there anything else u need to do? as all i did was unzip the files in the data folder like it instructed. Is there any other software i need to install, as this is the first time i add the companion mod

Yes, possible that your Skyrim is outdated.



Install: In order to run the mod, the esp as well as the bsa should be placed in your Steam/SteamApps/common/Skyrim/Data-folder.

Did you tick the EMCompViljaSkyrim.esp in the Data menu of your Skyrim launcher?

Or do you have any other mods on? Just asking because your load order of the mods could cause conflict and that could be why Vilja is missing.

i did have both files in the data folder
however when i launch it i cant click the data menu in the launcher, i just got blurred one like the usual

And that's your problem. You need to tick the .esp for it to work. How come it's blurred out? That's weird. Never noticed it myself. I always used Nexus Mod Manager to activate or deactivate my mods, I use 100+ mods, so the mod manager helps .

pretty sure i already have NMM, and yeah, already activated using NMM, start the game, and she still not there

What other mods do you have? Try deactivating, do a clean save somewhere else, then reactivate Vilja again?

a few bunch actually, like better females, hair and stuff, mostly body adjustments

Shouldn't be an issue if Vilja is at the bottom of the list. Hmm... I guess Skyrim being outdated is the only explanation then .

any place i can download it for free?

ok i unistalled it, install it again, did unpack the new version(1.7.7.06), everything works well, but still no Vilja
btw, is the patch really that small? i mean just around 256MB?

That doesnt sound right, are you even playing on an original copy?

There is no patch unpacking on Steam as the game is updated automatically.

Just a word of advise, trying to mod with pirated copy will be even more frustrating because most of the time, mods only work with the latest version. On top of the frustration of getting all the mods installed to get along without conflicts or accidentally destroyed the game.

What ^ said. I don't know what you are doing wrong. I just tried it on my Skyrim and I see Vilja at the Bannered Mare in Whiterun sitting there and asking me to help with some thieves. Whether it's because your game is pirated or not is the cause, I don't know. But I have a huge load of game altering mods for my Skyrim (ori version), and I still see VIlja.

Best to do that if you really love the game. Not that I support pirating but I only buy ori for games I really really appreciate. Skyrim was really my first original game I bought, then I got Mass Effect 3, Diablo 3 (disappointment), and Oblivion (spent years on that game when I had the argh matey version, actually got 100+ mods to work on my Oblivion). Now I still get ori version for games that are dirt cheap XD

In the future if anybody needs help with Skyrim mods or tools, please mention if you are running the original Steam version or some cheapskate pirated version. It will save a lot of redundant troubleshooting posts.

if ori - wrong version, not compatible with other mod yada yada

if pirate - buy ori. end of story

Yeah, I was looking through Vilja's thread on Nexus Forum, you do need the latest patch for Skyrim, or else vilja won't appear

anybody knows why during the brotherhood quest, after the den got invaded, i killed the mistress and mother spoke to me and no quest update. broken?
