QUOTE(kickurs2 @ Feb 5 2014, 07:32 PM)
Just sold my 2006 savvy amt today. Now i am officially an ex-owner. Savvy is a good car for me throughout the years of ownership. Relatively low maintenance with good handling. It does have few major problems for me which  i would like to share.

1) Air cond belt and power steering belts broke.
2) spark plug connector problem. Need to change the whole cable system consist of 2 parts (sorry i dont know what to call them.)
3) Jerkiness and gear change error. Must use correct AT oil- Renaultmatic D3. after i switch to this, jerkiness is markedly less and no error of gear change. My experience is when some service centre change back to proton brand AT oil, problem recur. However, jerkiness at low speed or after changing driving style is the archilles point for AMT. Reversing the car is also a pain.
4) faulty accumulator pump.

And lastly, somehow i have a feeling of proton service centre dont exactly know how to service this car after dealing with them all these years.

How much u sell ur savvy?
I am selling my savvy too. 2006. orange. hi-end.

Hahaha....yeah I guess.

Actually, I don't really know WHY I had that message repeat...I did that a long time ago! Crazy...

Well, anyhow...I think it's a good car and wish the AMT was more solid...but... that's life I guess.

I really want to modify one and make it EVIL!!! Hehehehehehe

My friend, ayam a hardcore DIY modder previously, I did a lot of evil mod to most of my cars. I choose Shawie also because it's cheap to own, and was thinking use the extra cash to start modding it to a corner monster. However... below is a list of challenge ayam having:

1) Spare part not easily available
2) Need special tool to repair engine(did a rough assessment, to dismantle engine alone need 13 different sizes of wrench, 2 of them are square, 6 of them are torx)
3) Spare part is in EURO price tag(almost same price like maintaining a BMW)
4) Mod part not available. Even local R3 stuff also mildly touching appearance, hardly performance
5) Gear ratio is extremely short. 110kph stands at 3600rpm(topped at 190kph @ 6krpm)

To me, the car is well balanced. The engine itself is made for makcik go to pasar kinda usage, moreover we're talking about TUV standard, that however more applicable to EUROPEAN country. They're tough cookies, but it does not mean it didn't break, especially in our tropical all year long summer. Melt radiator is the 1st concern for all Shawie owner. Other than the engine, the chassis is strong enough for B segment hatchback. Stock suspension already well tuned(considerably valuable if LOTUS indeed put a touch in it; if not, means Plotong did a good job). That however many local tuners are no brainer keep poisoning you to change sport spring, lower your ride, big rims + low profile tyres. How many of them really put an effort, draft a plan in CAD to simulate how the car roll? Hence, many modder would be like after paid a bomb to mod the car, they enjoy their placebo effect instead of really taking the car on track and time their improvement. Whoah! My car after change sport spring hou9lan7 geng ar! Corner at 120kph yawn.gif

Anyway, enough of lecturing. I was just saying, after 1 year + of ownership, instead of modifying car, I spent a fortune in restoring it. The amount of restoration cost already reaching my purchase price of the car doh.gif I don't see any more reason why should I spend more to "improve" it anyways. At this point of time, I enjoy it very much despite it's still a stock car. Rides and handling is fucking awesome. Engine problem already reduced to minimal, left the power steering pump still leaking. But hey, life goes on. What has spent already gone, enjoy NOW. I dare not to think about the future of this little red car, have saw enough Shawie ditched at Renotek as owner not enough money to maintain them anymore. Look at the amount of people crying to sell off their Shawie in Mudah? In here? Those who still hold on to it, meaning their car not much of a problem. When 1 fine day I come and offer you my little Red Shawie for a very cheap price to own, the engine probably dying already laugh.gif

Pls go ahead. That amount of understeer, I rather have a smaller power but more responsive handling laugh.gif

Why do you feel surprise with the price? Because it's more expansive than UR? Or you're expecting a piece of metal bar will only cost you less than 200 laugh.gif

WTF?!!!! How did you get the car started after 6 hours?! Your battery can tahan so long meh?!!!! shocking.gif

QUOTE(tckuan8686 @ Feb 11 2014, 12:41 AM)
is it i need to refill gas ?

can i ask the mechanic tangki to check , can he know without taking out any aircond part?

I only can afford refill gas right now , can he know directly is gas need to refill?

in 1 or 2 day i will go see , need to tell him , i become a very poor person after doing business

Aircond refrigerant is stored at extremely high pressure, hence need a COMPRESSOR to pump it over the condenser to exchange HEAT with COLDNESS. Without running engine, meaning compressor not working, your refrigerant will overheat in just 5~10minutes. After that, pressure will accumulate to an extend the hose/piping can't take it anymore. Minor case, return hose ruptured/leaked. Major case, condenser burst, debris fell into compressor+filter+cooling coil, entire akon system need to overhaul/replace.

Minor case for normal car(not include Shawie) = Return hose is around RM100~120.

Major case:
1) Compressor recon = RM400(ori new 1.6k)
2) Condenser = RM300
3) Cooling coil = RM300
4) Piping cleaning detergent = RM60
5) Full R134 refrigerant = RM120
5) Labor = RM80

Good luck

Hey guys, i've been wondering about buying a second hand savvy. Don't have a budget yet but prolly it's gonna be below 10k i think?
The problem lies with my parents, bcoz they dont let me buy those cheap satria's because it's the 1990's production. Planning on using a savvy as my 2nd choice coz of it's cheap(?)

The question is : Is it worth it for a student like me (21) to get savvy? hmm.gif
Or better save it for something else?

*PS ; kinda in need of transportation to get to the campus in Pahang. I'm in KL. Only once a month run in terms of long distance.

can u tell me when we need to refill gas for car,

my car middle still ok cold , right side driver aircond just warm air ,

still got blow strong ,

my house aircond  , when refill cold back  ,is it possible?
*
Weird stuff you're talking about. If still got cold, then mechanically the aircond system is NOT destroyed. It looks like the ventilation selector got problem as it may be taking OUTSIDE air. You might as well send to aircond guy diagnose. It's impossible for us to help u troubleshoot over the internet.

Good luck.

I'm still keeping my red amt savvy 2005 model. Was thinking of changing it once proton new GSC is launched. Do proton still accept trade in?

I just done , is aircond refill gas problem only ,

it really make me smile  biggrin.gif

Ayam curious, all these years the gas was IN the a/c system, I wonder where it goes after the 6 hours aircon without running compressor whistling.gif

Another 2 questions, aircon gas filled in the entire cooling coil. When blower blow through the cooling coil, cool air will channel through all 4 aircon duct.
1) Why only driver side not cold, whilst the centre ducts are cold?
2) If ran out of gas, how does the centre ducts are cold?

Regardless, since filled up gas settle your issue, than I'm glad for you. Do inform us again when you need to fill up gas AGAIN notworthy.gif
